I hope the Singapore Tesla's Owners Club is promoting your channel because you are creating really useful and regional information that would make their lives much easier.
I'm glad you talked about Teslas in the rain. I was just curious. You guys get downpours and lots of standing water in Malaysia. Have there been any concerns about driving an EV through standing water? Are there rules one has to follow in an EV? Are there concerns about the battery going out if there is deep standing water? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but if I ever obtain residency in Malaysia, I might have interest in purchasing a Tesla to go back and forth to Singapore and Thailand. And how about charging in the rain? Is that not advised? Sorry for the dumb questions.
Thanks Daren for joining our Tesla La Kopi's (TLKP) road trip to Malaysia and showcasing our Dim Sum drive in your video! Let's continue to have more EV driving adventures driving from Singapore to Malaysia and Thailand. Do join us again :)
You think that the charging network is not ready yet but I proved you wrong by driving into Malaysia multiple times in an EV. Can you prove me wrong by action rather than opinion?
I believe that the efficiency of the car decreases in rain because the air density increases due to the rain water and the reduced temperature. A higher density in the air also means that there is more air resistance. Hence the lower efficiency.
Hey kobeba. It’s for battery efficiency. At higher speed, we drain the battery much faster and reduce effective range. Once there’s a Tesla Supercharger network in Malaysia with 250kW charging (20% to 80% state of charge in 15-20 mins), it’ll help a lot.
Hey Daren, just a curious question, I see your videos reiterating your bullish opinions on Tesla as well as talking to Tesla owners countless of times. Any reasons why you might not have bought a Tesla yet? I am sure your holdings would be enough to get you a Tesla already or there might be loans out there you can get for one.
As someone who doesn't like to see my phone battery go below 50% seeing the Tesla left 9% battery before managing to find a charger in foreign land and hoping it's working feels very scary.
Hey Tashi. The auto wipers often get too aggressive in South East Asian rain. I feel it’s been optimised for North American rain weather (works excellent in our US road trips), so many Tesla owners in the region don’t use auto wipers.
Hi Daren , i love your videos and i learn alot from it . I'm 25 years old and I'm now working on my dream to get my dream car...Tesla . Love from Malaysia ~ !

Fun, fun road trip, Singapore style! Watching you and your Tesla 'road warriors'. Lol Always enjoy your excursions to places where most Americans will never have a chance to visit...until Starship offers service worldwide. Then I'll be tagging along! Just fun to see the sights and listen to you and your friends filling us in about charging, dim sum (yum!), boarder crossings, etc.. Will watch every one of these episodes! Thanks again, Daren. Agree. With Elon opening up the Network to other brands, it further supports a massive expansion here in the States, with those enormous 50, 75 and 100 stall locations. I really look forward to all those non-Tesla owners getting buyer's remorse when they talk to all the super-enthusiastic Tesla owners. Anyway, I'm glad I'll be getting my Cybertruck in 2023 because of all the advancements in batteries, charging and especially FSD!!! When I made my reservation, it was only$7,000! Long trips will be such a joy...and to think I may be able to nap in the driver's seat...when people see that, they'll all want a Tesla! A little long, but I love watching your channel...one of the best to come along. Freddy
Really hope to Tesla and Malaysia can quickly sort out whatever hurdle in between, and start introducing Tesla and supercharger here. There is no turning back.
11:26 CCS2 is a default standard of charging in the 180kW charger right?. Nice to see the 180kW charger there.. step in the right direction. Even in India chademo charging hasn’t really caught on. Why’s it?. If I can ask. Here we have 50kW chargers mostly and still ev’s are nascent here, though they’re expanding rapidly. Excellent video, great presentation!!!!..
2 hour road trip but end up spending 1 hour to charge at Ayer Keroh (which is just outside Malacca). The driver went "Yes!" when he saw that 1 miserable available lot pretty much sums it up. If luck doesn't favour you, could end up waiting more than 1 hour after making the very unnecessary detour to get to the southbound side. EV owners really have a lot of time to burn. That 1 hour is better spent enjoying the sights in Malacca or sitting by the pool in the hotel rather than waiting around for a charge. Convoy of EVs is simply not practical as everyone in the convoy needs to charge at the same time.

There are people who will not even consider Malacca but it's become much more interesting as trailblazers for the EV revolution There are also those who felt guilty burning fuel in passenger cars to bring just few people to Malacca. We're now at the beginning of the great revolution of efficient, clean EV which will help so much restoring our clean fresh air and help with climate change. And then we have insular, dim witted, pessimistic, cynical fools like you, any curry, who pursue an anti ev agenda across many many videos. I pity you.
The reason I went "Yes!" was because the app indicated that the South Bound charger was occupied so I was taken by surprise when it was empty when we arrived. Miserable available lot? This only shows your deep-seated resentment against EVs but none to show for your intellect. You seriously think I will sit in the car for 1 hour, grinning to myself that I finally found a charger? Unnecessary detour? Even if you did not ace in geography, it is pretty easy to check out Google Maps/Navigation. I will have to U-turn and pass by the "miserable available lot" even I charged at the North Bound side.
"Rational people" like "any curry" and "Liang Ee Ping" always fail to understand the sacrifices of pioneers that bring about technological advancements. Thanks for organizing an amazing road trip!
I think Malaysia EV charging network is not ready yet. It also makes no sense to drive EV to Malaysia where petrol is much cheaper there then SG.
It makes a lot more sense to drive EV to Malaysia or anywhere in the world because it is cleaner than petrol cars.
You think that the charging network is not ready yet but I proved you wrong by driving into Malaysia multiple times in an EV. Can you prove me wrong by action rather than opinion?
Hi, hope you will share the costs of charging in Malaysia as well. Thank you.
Hey Nashzyy. The Malaysia EV Owners Club (MyEVOC) has the best insights on EV charging costs in Malaysia: facebook.com/groups/myevoc
INFORMATIVE!!
welcome to malaysia
Hi tesla team in malaysia.
I am model 3 LR owner in korea.

Love your content!
Thanks! 🙏🏻
wow wow
I am curious, why do we have to keep to 100 to 110km? Reason? Battery issue?
Hey kobeba. It’s for battery efficiency. At higher speed, we drain the battery much faster and reduce effective range. Once there’s a Tesla Supercharger network in Malaysia with 250kW charging (20% to 80% state of charge in 15-20 mins), it’ll help a lot.

Hey Kenneth. Will be getting a Tesla Model Y next year. Tesla Singapore currently only officially sells the Model 3 sedan.
Tesla superchargers should be on Johor Bahru
Agree!
As someone who doesn't like to see my phone battery go below 50% seeing the Tesla left 9% battery before managing to find a charger in foreign land and hoping it's working feels very scary.
Haha agree!
Cool! And Awesome
LOL go southbound side just to charge.
LOL I would have needed to make an U-turn anyways LOL
he should set the windshield wiper on auto in rain.

another amazing video

So encouraging~!
9% state of charge and u still sound so calm heh heh
😂 panicking inside!
Will you be doing a video on the associated costs of owning a Tesla? Insurance, road tax, etc?
Tesla Astronaut has a video on this topic: ua-cam.com/video/OFcpYuw-W5A/v-deo.html

Thanks Freddy! Looking forward to experience more US road trips too. The Supercharger network makes it so much easier.

Big oil in Malaysia (Petronas) will do something...

Tesla owners are like no other in the EV community. They just get it. 👍
