Here’s what you need:
For Basbousa:
1 Cup fine semolina
½ Cup medium or coarse semolina
1 Tbsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
½ Cup sugar
1 Cup melted unsalted butter
½ Cup coconut flakes
2 Eggs
½ Cup table cream
1 Cup milk
For the cream:
4 Cups whole milk (1L)
½ cup Cornstarch
2 Tbsp sugar
8 Oz cream cheese
1 Tsp vanilla extract
½ Cup table cream
For the syrup:
1 Cup water
1 Cup sugar
Lemon juice (half lemon)
1 Tsp Orange blossom water
Garnish with any kind of nuts you have and enjoyyyyy!

Hello really like what you’ve done I had a question did u let the cream base set in the fridge before u added the top basboosa layer or just added it without setting the cream part ?
Hi! Thanks for your comment. No, you don’t need to put it in the fridge before adding the top layer. But don’t pour it all at once, use a spoon to spread it wisely, you can also let it cool in kitchen for about 5min before adding the top layer. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for watching! The cream cheese I used was Philadelphia but you can use any other brand. You can even use “Labneh”.
Can we use corn flour instead of corn starch?
Cornstarch and corn flour are completely different ingredients. The cornstarch is used here as a thickener, you can use 2 tbsp of fine semolina instead but the texture is definitely better with cornstarch.

Baking time: 15-20min the first half bake and after spreading the 2nd layer you bake it again for about 20min but it also depends on your oven.

Same thing happened to me, I think it’s because in the video they didn’t add all of the filling but I added all of the filling so it’s very milky and white at the top

@@sn.fatima2953 no that’s not what I mean, bake in one tin, but when you’re adding the cream make sure you don’t put too much of it in and make sure you have enough cake batter to put in so it completely covers the cream

Any cream cheese, I used Philadelphia in this video.
I am literally trying to make it now as I watch the video. I haven't used the right size dish, so i have extra mix. I didn't have enough cream cheese so i had to improvise with some mozzarella and blitz it to cream it. So will see how it turns out. The remainder of the mix will turn into another dessert 😂
@zeenathousee I have never tired using mozzarella, I hope it turns good. And yeah, the remaining amount of the mix can turn into good mini desserts or another regular Basbousa without cream 🙌🏻.
