I grew up surfing in the area. I normally would go to what we called the cove or colonial, a little north closer to the inlet or at reef road. Always saw sharks out there but mostly little spinners. I came real close to a bull shark once, I could almost touch it. It was in the same wave I wound up catching and I stood up as fast as I could to get my feet and body out of the water. The thing was huge especially compared to always seeing little spinners and sometimes hammerheads which can get pretty big. So many days when it was overcast and crappy outside i would be out there by myself with bait fish all over the place, definitely could get uncomfortable with that feeling. Those days if it was decent I wouldn’t stay for more than a few hours.
