All i can say that when this video dropped a month ago, i was in the worst state of my life, i had my channel blow up all my life when the game of FIFA released every year in Sepetember but last few months were tough, just realised the competition increased and people were able to challenge me right in the gut. Im not going to lie i watched this video about 2-3 times a week sometimes to remind myself that creating content is more important that thinking about stats and views and after realising about controlling what i can and not worrying about what i cannot. Thank you so much FIN! Would love to connect with you on discord! Thank you so so so much for this video!
I’m convinced that if you made an hour long video it would feel like 5 minutes. The flow of storytelling is unbelievable bud - Can’t wait for the next one 😁
Thanks for sharing your experience. UA-cam for me has been overwhelming and I'm taking it way too seriously. You made me realise that I can just chill, keep it fun, and stress less. I was trying to make money as fast as humanly possible, but with all that weight on my shoulders, it's really not worth it. I have decades of time ahead of me, and as long as we stay consistent, we will definitely get there. Thanks for your insight!
I haven’t edited for 3 months after my burnout, seeing this really helped me! To know that you’ve been struggling with the same battles makes me feel less lonely on this topic. And now after watching this, I’m going to put aside the glamour and unrealistic expectations and just have fun, be me, and enjoy the ride! Can’t wait to return to UA-cam!
This is a VERY important topic. Burnout just occurs sometimes and there's little you can really do except take a step back for a while. Personally, the thing that has helped me the most is taking things slow if I feel like I'm losing motivation. Just relax for a bit, think of a plan, organize my work. It can help untangle your mind. (P.S: 0:08 hey, look who it is! I made it into the video lol)
Love this video! Thanks for shining a light on these issues! I removed my UA-cam Studio from my phone altogether, and it saved my sanity. Channel started doing better after that, as well. Hope everyone stays sane and healthy in their UA-cam Journeys!
Surrounding yourself with an online friend group that also makes videos that supports you is one of the things that has kept me going so long personally
This is extremely relatable in some ways, because the journey is not easy but with time it'll get better. Giving some time to simmer, let the word spread out over time, the exposure to sink in and it'll come through. You've got this!
Fin, I've been watching your content since you had 9k subs, 3 years ago or something... You gave me advices and encouragements even in the comments under your videos! Because of you I started freelance video editing, and it's changing my life. I still want to get back on making my own content and this video made me realize I burned out a long time ago... You're one of the few who actually "gets" the problem and after watching this I'll completely change the approach Thank you for all the work you've done throughout these years! And thank you for all the tutorials and advices!
I agree on your point about consistency. I don't upload that often too but, even though i hadn't uploaded a good video in about 3-4 months, i still saw growth because i knew i had made some actual good videos which generated views and subscriptions. It all comes down to the actual content and the titles, thumbnails etc.
It’s crazy because it’s impossible for most non-creators to understand it. I remember before I was a creator watching big creators quit like “why would they do that? They make so much money”
Your point is correct! Although I agree with the loneliness point, I also feel that .... :( I spend my entire day in the computer at my house.... no fun with friends, no party, no nothing.... and I think youtube is the reason i am now very far from my friend.. they did not text me no, nothing... and at this stage of my life i realize that the social life is also very very veryyyyy important with....our online life
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you so much Fin for making a video like this! Based on my last uploads, it’s very clear that I’ve been making less content with larger gaps and I honestly thought UA-cam was going to be easier when I first started. Keep up the amazing videos! Whether you upload once a week or once a month, I know it’ll always be a banger ❤
I think the best thing I ever did was reach out to creators around my size in my niche, nothing like discussing things and people *actually* understand what you’re talking and how you feel about things related to UA-cam
I have a TON of responsibilities outside of UA-cam, so I’ve had to accept this mindset from the beginning. I tried to pump out content once, and I was burned out within two weeks. I deleted those videos because they were absolutely garbage. Eventually, I know I will be successful in this field, but I’m taking my time. No need to rush finding my voice on this platform. Thanks Fin, for being UA-cam’s unofficial guidance counselor/teacher.
Burnout is like the whole reason i stopped uploading videos 8 months ago, not becuase I don't enjoy posting youtube vids but because I ran out of creativeness, this video perfectly demonstrtates how to cope with this, long live finzar
dude, i felt every second of this video i used to check studio way too often and it really consumes you at some point, and if you start viewing at as a buisness, the youtube game changes. and yes, it can be a very lonely road especially if you focus on daily uploads... been watching you for like two years now or something, i love that we may think the same way!
broooo as a new youtuber myself, this video speaks volume to me. I want to make UA-cam my full-time career and it is annoying to see my videos aren't taking off (yet) ... I cancelled my plans with friends and I work part time only to focus on making the top videos ever... And it is mentally draining ... But consistency like you say will get me there ... I think dropping expectations while pushing myself to make the best videos ever is the KEY to succeed! Thanks a lot ... ^_^
really appreciate this fin, i've studied the youtube algorithm for like a year and a half now but only started making videos about 2 months ago... I burned myself out so bad so i've took a step back at the minute to really think how not to burnout as i literally wake up go on my computer then go to bed after hours and hours of doing youtube every day. Ive learned so much about youtube and taught myself how to edit but when i go to make videos it all falls apart, like i always end up disappointed in my videos even though they are doing well for just starting uploading. I really am trying to fix the problem and this helps a lot so I appreciate it lol :)
I seriously love your content. If I ever start a youtube channel, my ultimate goal would be to aspire to create quality content as high as yours. Keep it up, we gotchu!!
absolutely needed to see this! i'm personally just ending a ~6 month break from uploading, in this time "away" from my channel i've found a lot of success as an editor for other UA-camrs / TikToker's, working for others allows you to see how you've incorrectly viewed your own thoughts about UA-cam. all in all, i couldn't agree more with all of the points you made in this video. props for the Bon Iver clip, it's so applicable to art
Amazing! I feel like a lot of youtubers (including me) have this feeling of "Oh, I have so much to show to the people", but once we are on this journey, everything seems to be under our expectations (imagination vs reality) mainly because of 0 experience which is absolutely normal at the beginning. I started recently to focus on what I want to offer to the audience and enjoy the whole process and things started to look better. Keep it up with the good work, finzar!
Thanks Fin. You're someone who has helped me out on my UA-cam journey since I started. At first it was all technical, but I never would've thought I'd be getting mental health tips too. Appreciate you.
I’m a little late to these videos, but it makes me really happy that you made them. It feels really good to see a person from your channel size not only succeed, but also give your realistic perspective that got you to this point. Sometimes it really feels like your next video is only going to do worse than the last and it looks like the goalpost is just moving further. Sometimes you have NEGATIVE motivation to get a video edited and it just makes you second guess the entire video even more. Thanks for showing that you can work your way through this stress and make it happen.
This is extremely helpful. I recently started editing for a YT channel and The only one expecting high things from me as a Editor is myself, and its not good for my Mental. Seeing the Analytics from the Videos made me Unmotivated even though the Video was preforming better, the expectations I set were way to high because I genuinely thought I made a Absolute masterpiece. But the more I edit the more I realise that Things don't change within a day. Your videos really helped me before but this was the best one Keep it up Fin
This is 100% real. I burned myself out within a year and a half… fully. Started my gaming channel (not this channel) channel late 2020 and I was absolutely obsessed, even pushing daily videos and streams during the summer and every other day videos during The school years. I streamed at least 3 times a week for a year straight. I mean.. it was kinda working… i got 3 thousands subscribers and 200k views… but It burnt me out because I would do my Highschool homework, then edit, then get 4 hours of sleep. It was unhealthy. I took a really long break which ended up being really good for me. Now I’ve moderated that, and started riding horses a ton (I live in a small ag town) which has really helped. Love your message here man!
Definitely gonna make my own video soon detailing my own journey so far and experience with UA-cam burnout. Fin you've got no idea how much I appreciate your videos! I've said it before but someday Fin is going to be indirectly (or directly) responsible for creating the next biggest creator on the platform.
Finzar never give up, I have just recently started to upload videos again after not doing it for a while, I have a fixed schedule in place and the right mind set thanks to you, I’m sure I’m not the only one you have inspired 😄👍🏻
Wooow what an incredible video bro, it gave me that motivational boost I needed, as a content creator, receiving all these words helped me a lot, I felt very identified and made me realize that I'm not alone, thank you very much Fin, you're incredible
Hey man, I am one of those guys who watches and never leaves comments. I just wanted to say that I understand your feelings as I was in the similar situation some time ago. I immigrated from Russia to Denmark, exploring the world and chasing the opportunities. I found a good job, well paid, but in a country, where I was totally alone, without friends and maybe not that welcomed - in the way that If I leave it, nobody would cry about it or anything. I worked a lot in order to settle and make this employment permanent. Unfortunately, I was unlucky with my manager, who treated me more like “a slave who came from the outside to have a better life”, and instead of moral support, he used it for advantage and pushed me even more with tasks, obligations and etc. basically he put all his work on me, bullying me and my others colleagues regularly. So I worked more and more in order to stay, and keep the good life. Then things got worse and political, and even that was not enough. And the BOOM, I reached it: the feeling of total emptiness and lack of any power to do anything. The whole courage and motivation I had became pointless. Things intensified till the moment when I wanted to drop off everything and just run away, back home, where I at least se e parents and friends. And then I realized that the only way out was… to set boundaries. That is, to leave time for myself, to shift focus, to explore around and just get a deep breathe. Man, you do an amazing content. I recently started my UA-cam as well, telling about music and just some funny stories. In other words, just expressing myself. You and dunkey videos really inspire me. I really appreciate your work and the empathy you have towards your viewers. You are not alone. Keep cool!
Man I needed this. I'm so fixated on getting big I've completely lost the focus from the creative process. Just recently did I start rebranding my channel from funny-ish gaming videos to educational content. I'm so glad you made this! Go Fin, Go!
love how you dove into your own experience with youtube and its current state! after doing youtube for a couple years, i definitely think these tips would’ve helped me out so much when i first started out. great tips and awesome video finzar :))
Just uploaded a video after a whole year of no uploads. The performance was very good but you're completely right about the dopamine rush, so unhealthy mate!
Hit so many key points that it was almost as if you were in my mind watching me through the struggle that is UA-cam. Oddly enough I was bricked up the entire time. Another great video Fin, keep at it! Your comedy and expertise are always a pleasure and don’t let UA-cam studio tell you otherwise!
This video really spoke to me. Every one of the points you've made in this video is something i'm either battling currently, or i've experienced in the past. Thank you for highlighting these issues and presenting them in a way which makes them feel less like personal issues, but rather something we all battle through as full time creators. I particularly liked the part where you mentioned the mindset of creators who've just started - it bought me back to when I first began making videos and how differently I looked at things, compared to my current outlook on the creation process. Also, a massive thank you to your Finn, for the incredible preset packs and content that you regularly continue to put out for us. My Channel's work has been improved 10x since I started watching you and bought your preset packs, which have opened up an entirely new window of opportunity for my videos. These tutorials, along with videos like this one, make it feel so much more possible to make this my long term career and achieve my long term goals. Cheers mate.
Appreciate all your tips and insights, thanks for sharing!!! Not enough people talking about this. Ive been trying to grow my stuff for a while and I’ve seen a little success but my goodness I can relate to absolutely everything you said in this video. Being obsessed with the analytics to them even driving the things I make… and they perform worse! Stepping back, not looking at analytics anymore, and just focusing on what I want to make has been so good for my brain. You mentioned making better content and I think it’s funny because reducing my expectations and putting less work into an edit that really didn’t need to be overly crazy (retention though?!?!!!?! Nah 😂) has made my relationship with video making a lot healthier.
Thanks Finzar! Really enjoyed those thoughts. There are very very few content creators that I wish would make longer videos. You are in that crew. I appreciate all the work that goes into making interesting thoughts come alive. Reminds me I need to slow down and just enjoy some editing. On a little side note, I would be curious what type of videos you would want to make now if you were to start something new. Throw one in some time.
The analytics point really spoke to me I even turned off vid IQ cause I was constantly trying to get my stats up and never really "turned off my brain" but ever since I started taking breaks from it all its really helps
Such great advice for a new UA-camr such as myself. I’ll keep all this in mind and probably watch this video multiple times 😝 Thanks for the amazing content as always!
Damn, I needed hear this, so thank you! It's easy to think that burnout is just normal tiredness, but they're two different things. Sometimes I'd just look at Premiere Pro just to feel like I'd done something, whereas like you say, it would've been more productive to just step away. Thanks for doing this, man! Wishing you continued success in your future!
Thank you finzar, i started youtube 2 years ago, and my first year was a lot thinking just like you said in the video, after that year i got bored of youtube because i was just too much stressed and spent 1 year without doing any videos, and nowadays i see how much is important to don't treat yourself as a robot, go easy, we're humans not machines, nowadays i'm back making video trying to everyday be better and not think of youtube as my entire life, i'm doing it with much more confort and calm, trying everyday to improve this mentality that we don't need to work 24h a day on youtube and we don't need to grow up in 1 month, just chilling and enjoying the journey, take the tips this guys gave us And lets go UA-camrs!
Go grab my presets 👀😎

Go Fin, Go!
Legendary storytelling + you’re truly helping creators and editors get better. Thank you brother 🙏
love how you dove into your own experience with youtube and its current state! after doing youtube for a couple years, i definitely think these tips would’ve helped me out so much when i first started out. great tips and awesome video finzar :))
finzar’s storytelling getting better with each upload :D
finzar I absolutly love you because you help others
Just uploaded a video after a whole year of no uploads. The performance was very good but you're completely right about the dopamine rush, so unhealthy mate!
You are honestly the only one on youtube who I find funny and really useful please keep it going
It's amazing how like-minded we are and how I came to the same conclusions over the years
Thanks man! needed this and u came at the right time, you're not only growing your channel, you're helping people out to start their journey!
bro u are such a awesome person, so creative and happy. U are the guy that I wish I'll be some day
This editing is next level, simply amazing! Keep up!
love you fin, you are doing great brother :)
This was absolutely spot on, fantastic and the most relatable thing I've ever watched.
I think i needed this video ❤️
Oh a free therapy session. Thanks Finzar. I really needed to hear this.
