    Thanks for the video: We have the sealer, purchased only for bacon. Interesting fact that to use the sealer for cure process too? that you do not need to flip the slab over daily, thanks !! I found out that by turning the bag down before putting the slab into the bag, not getting the end seal part of the bag wet, wiping it down too, you only need one time to pull a vacuum and seal.

    Yum, bacon. I am sure that will be some good bacon after it is cured and smoked with apple wood.

    Good to see you learning and helping so much, Olivia.
    Maybe I misunderstood. Did you say you won't be turning the bacon every day? If so, why not? I'd think you'd still wan to turn it because gravity will effect the curing liquid.
    That looks like a good vacuum sealer; I;ve got one, but haven't used it in years.

    we have a different version of the sealer and use it for our apples and pears harvest. What type of apple trees do you have?

    Can we leave the meat stored like that longer than 10 days? Like for years?

    Is this as good or better than food saver brand? I need a new one but I've only used foodsaver.

    Because the vacuum pulls the cure into the meat, will it need to cure the full 10 days like in a zipper bag? I thought the time was shorter kinda like the difference of cooking in a slow cooker vs pressure canner? Don't know just asking. xoxo from sunny Arizona. Forecast for today: 73F

    • @LumnahAcres
      @LumnahAcres  7 років тому

      It must likely will. But using the equilibrium method you dont have to worry about over curing

    Does it just seal bags or does Mason jars too? xoxo from Arizona.

    • @LumnahAcres

      Yes you can do canisters with it also

    You say salt. Do you mean pink salt or celery salt or regular salt?

    • @LumnahAcres
      @LumnahAcres  7 років тому

      We are using Himalayan salt. You could use regular salt

    I like your videos, but I wonder why you don't give your daughter Olivia a stand to step on, so she can reach the desk much easier, just a thought. Sincerely, tom

    Why grams Al? I avoid metric wherever I can...one world order tryin to ram this metric stuff into our world! Ounces...pounds....that’s where it’s at!!

    • @kirstenwhitworth8079
      @kirstenwhitworth8079 7 років тому

      Math is so much easier with metric, but I do use the American customary system (aka British imperial system) for most things.

    • @107retired
      @107retired 7 років тому

      Kirsten Whitworth I’m easier with standard (imperial)....been using it since the 60’s...some wheels just don’t need fixin...
