Hey Will, I have to let you know that I watched your video before I tackled my cab light install on my "Expensive truck" (2015 LTZ 2500 HD) and have to thank you for taking the time to do the video. I started on the project yesterday and 4 hours later I had them installed on the cab, still have to finish the wiring/headliner today. I did not buy the wiring kit, pretty pricy for what you get. I just cut off the connectors and added my own wire, soldiered and heat shrink it. By the way, the pin number is #8 on the connection point. The biggest challenge was the center light, the two square holes have to be "right on" to mount the light flush. I will come back here and add a picture of it when I am done.. Again, thanks.
@@juanalvarado2969 The recon lights don't do well in the sun.... plastic is cooked and peeling... less than 1 year. They would not do anything except send me another set at half price...
I just bought my cab lights from Recon. I was looking for a good video with a good Birds Eye view of the install, & your video was perfect! Just what I was looking for. Thanks bro! Great job! 👍👍
I have a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado with 52,000 miles on it. I put some nice rims and all terrain tires on it. Duel exhaust, 4 inch leveler kit. Leveler kit makes it look and ride so much better. Front bumper guard with lights. I think something on the roof like you installed would really top it off. Great video
Awesome job. I just worry that using the recon lights over factory. I used them on my 09 an got condensation. But seems like the newer style are sealed up better. Good luck with them. Great install.
Definitely get them! I love the way they look. Everyone worries about water leaking but if you put a whole bunch of silicone then you don’t have to worry about it.
Off question....what led light did you put in grille. Second question....what side and where does wire come from to power your cab lights. I want put a separate switch to turn off the cab lights....Thanks...
@@willsprojects2601 let me ask you I pit an oem harness but didn't put a ground and they worked for amin then stopped now my marker lights and my break lights don't work you think that has everything todo with jt?
@@j.villemach8053 that sucks but it might. Check the fuses and see if they are blowen. Just a good rule of thumb, anything with a electric needs a ground.
@@willsprojects2601 yea that's just the only thing that I didn't put on but I would just have to test which wire it's the ground make a cut and ground it right? Thank you for your replys
I don’t have the part number. It was option on there website. U can change a bulb but it’s just be a pain in the ass. I don’t think you can change to amber
I hope you stay happy with these Recon lights. I will never use them again. They are all cheaply made and don't offer the same leak protection like the OEM cab lights.
Nice. I wanna put on the orange one bro. I got a sierra 1 cab do you think i’ll be able to find them? Also i’m not in your country i live in Dubai. What are your suggestions for me before i go to the shop to put them on?
I bought them white. I could of got the amber but I don’t like it looking that way. I’m trying to get rid of all the amber including the ones in the head lights

I’m glad I could help. Yea I can agree with the center cuts were a pain.
Will, now that it has been over a year, how are those lights holding up? I have major issues with them. Can you contact me for details?
@@navybuff what issues ?
@@juanalvarado2969 The recon lights don't do well in the sun.... plastic is cooked and peeling... less than 1 year. They would not do anything except send me another set at half price...
Yea mine are already faded. If you get them, then get them painted

Awesome job, sounds like you did great research. Better than any other Recon install video I've seen.

Oh yeah sound like a nice setup!! The cab lights is not that hard to install. Just some patience and the right tools and your good to go.
Nice work Will! fixing to do mine with OEM lights
I should have went with the oem style myself. The boost auto parts light fade before a year.
So u don’t like the recon cab lights
I can’t see how you connected the plug that came installed on the light to the plug in the wiring kit. It’s not the same plug.
Nice job! I have a question regarding the switch. Is this just a sensor? Or did you end putting a separate switch in?
The lights are hooked up to a sensor. So when it starts to get dark and the headlights come on so does the cab lights
Where u located at ? I’m not daring enough to do that but I did get some recon cab lights
Awesome job. I just worry that using the recon lights over factory. I used them on my 09 an got condensation. But seems like the newer style are sealed up better. Good luck with them. Great install.
Yes they are sealed up pretty good and with a whole lot of silicone I’m not worried. If you can get your hands on some oem then do it.
Damn that's sick. Now I'm going to have to get some
Definitely get them! I love the way they look. Everyone worries about water leaking but if you put a whole bunch of silicone then you don’t have to worry about it.
Looks awesome 👍🏻

30 inch Amazon light bar for the grill. In the video I point out the spot where I get power. It’s passenger side.
How did you connect the wire from the light to the harness ?
I had to buy the harness that connects to all the lights and then from that I tapped into my truck
Did you put a ground on the can lights harness?
I put a ground by a existing screw above the headliner

Your harness should have a ground wire that needs to be grounded on a clean metal surface.
Cant you see the factory locations from the under side
I didn’t see the spots.
What where your measurements on the light ?
I got it from recon
Where you wired it to the pin, you said they only turn on at night time? Will they not turn on manually when you turn on your running lights?
The cab lights are controlled by light sensor. So when it’s dark they turn on. I didn’t need them on during the day time
Mine came in today, ordered them just because of your video!! How are they holding up man?? Great work!
Hold up great!!
How did you mount the light bar behind the grill ? I’ve been trying to find videos all over and can’t find anything. Thanks
I mounted the light bar on my radiator support
@@willsprojects2601 do you have instagram or anything for us to chat about it. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it thx.

Nice work Boats
Can you tell me the number of the wiring harness, and can you change a burned out bulb or change to amber if you wanted
I don’t have the part number. It was option on there website. U can change a bulb but it’s just be a pain in the ass. I don’t think you can change to amber

I am happy with them. I made sure I made the perfect cuts and a lot of sealant. No leaks at all
How long did it take you to install them
Took about 4 hours taking my time and recording.
Did the hardware came with the lights or came separately bought some oems but didn't came with the little bolts or bracket
The wiring kit was separate
Nice. I wanna put on the orange one bro. I got a sierra 1 cab do you think i’ll be able to find them? Also i’m not in your country i live in Dubai. What are your suggestions for me before i go to the shop to put them on?
Honestly go to the dealership and get the oem ones. My recons are fading allready
@@willsprojects2601 I swear i was about to do them today but i said to my self i should buy and do them all originally.
Really good video.
How are these holding up? And did you get the wiring harness as well?
Holding up great. Can never go much with the silicone. No leaks at all. Yes I did get the harness from them.
Where did you get the measurements for the holes?
From recons website
They are where the oem lights would go
Does this work for a Sierra 1500?
It should. Check there website
Any problems with them? I’m about to install my set.
No issues but they are allready fading
@@willsprojects2601 but no leaks or anything?
Did you have to buy the harness as well or just the light kit?
I bought the harness. It’s a must.

Also don’t forget the silicone!!
