Each episode will focus on the life and times of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who was the founder of the Sikh Empire in Punjab. The series explores his military campaigns, his economic and educational policies, his relationships with his wives and family members, as well as the political and social landscape of Punjab during the 19th century.
But we will start from the ancient history of Punjab; discuss Punjab before Maharaja Ranjit Singh, highlighting the dynasties, empires and the Muslim invaders during that period. Punjab before Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a region with a long and rich history, having been inhabited by various civilizations over the centuries. The region was known for its fertile land and strategic location, which made it a center of trade and commerce. One of the earliest civilizations to settle in the Punjab region was the Harappans, who built a sophisticated urban culture in the Indus Valley around 2600 BCE.
The region also saw the rise and fall of various empires, including the Mauryan Empire, the Gupta Empire, and the Mughal Empire. In the early medieval period, the Punjab region was ruled by various dynasties, including the Rajputs, the Ghaznavids, and the Ghurids. The region also saw the rise of the Sikh religion in the 15th century, which was founded by Guru Nanak and later led by nine successive Gurus. By the 18th century, the Punjab region had become fragmented and was ruled by various small kingdoms and principalities. It was during this time that Maharaja Ranjit Singh emerged as a powerful ruler and united the region under his leadership, establishing the Sikh Empire in 1799.

Maratha power did not end with Panipat loss. They recovered Delhi within 10 years from Mughals and Afghans.

@@panjabiswger3635 it was just a minor setback. The next 10 years after panipat were spent in defeating the nizam of Hyderabad and Hyderabad Ali and Tipu Sultan of srinrangpatnam

Nice video but one major mistake. After Raghunathrao left Punjab, another batch of marathas was sent by peshwa to Punjab under the leadership of Jankoji Shinde. Sabaji Shinde Patil was appointed as the governor of Punjab after adina beg died.
But he ran from Punjab when jahan khan invade Punjab from kyber pass. And in battle of lahore 1760 sikhs remain alone.
@@ranjitsinghsher-e-punjab9790 wrong. When jahan khan came in 1760, Sabaji Patil Shinde fought him and severely defeated him. Later when Abdali himself came with the whole 40,000 strong Afghan army, that's when all small maratha continents from Lahore, peshawar, Multan and Attock retreated to Delhi.

@@Raut-warrior i am also saying about second battle . jahan khan invade Peshwar and abdali came from Bolan pass. Jahan khan again came front of Shinde where he retreated back to delhi. And that time only sikha remain alone. Jahan khan again got wounded so abdali send a later to him to join him in sirhind.
@@ranjitsinghsher-e-punjab9790 how can 5000 soldiers under Shinde fight 40,000? Total maratha strength in all of Punjab was just 15,000 and that too scattered across 4-5 forts. Though one batch of some 3000 Marathas fought to death and all perished.
Maratha capital was 2000 kms away in Pune hence it was not possible to secure properly. To stop abdali it would have needed atleast 30-40k soldiers with top level maratha generals like Dattaji Shinde and Malharrao Holkar but it wasn't possible for 2 of top maratha generals to stay in one province

Marathas took back delhi in 1771😅..how did their power end?? Neither ragunath rao nor peshwa were in this battle.. they were sittinh in gwalior and pune..yes their power in north was routed for 10yrs surely
