Going "FlyCore" Kayak Fishing for Calico & Sand Bass - Unbelievable Results!

- Had an incredible day in Dana Point from the kayak twitching flies for Calico Bass and Sand Bass. Today was one of those days that will stand out in my memory for a long, long time.
The Calico Bass and Sand Bass action was non-stop on the Deceiver flies and leadcore. FlyCore fishing is such an incredible technique to search out and find fish. And fishing from the kayak is the perfect way to do this technique.
Today I was fishing the Dana Point Pipe from 35 to out over 100 feet deep and find fish the entire way. The Old Town Bigwater PDL 132 is the perfect platform for this style of fishing and kept me rolling at 1.5 to 1.8 mph. I ended the day with 9 Calico Bass and 11 Sand Bass. Not too bad at all!

Good video. If you don't have lead core, would a Carolina rig work work those flies?
Thank you. Never tried the Carolina, but would be interesting. My thought is that it would dive too quickly on the twitch with the weight. And would be a bit tough to gauge depth. But might work.
That’s pretty wild using your hand to move the fly like that on the line. You ever get line burn from a hard hit?
We fish this technique for big stripers as well. It’s crazy good. The key is to not wrap the line around your fingers. Out in the salt, you never know what will come along.

Can you use that cortez 10 offshore for school size tuna up to 35lbs or yellowtail up to 20lbs?
