    My wife's Rav was on the final month of the 7yr extended warranty of her car when the alternator and AC went out. That warranty was the best money I spent. The next three cars I bought all have extended warranty, I also negotiated the price down on all of them. One thing I learned from Chevy dude is negotiate every step of the process, price of the car, trade in, extended warranty and financing. It can be weary but worth it.

When I asked the finance manager the exact question you told in the video, he kinda scared and asked me what do I do for a living cause nobody ever asked him that question. i am an expert in Vechicle service contracts. 99.9% of the "coverage" being sold over the phone is no better than toilet paper. They will actually lie to you when selling you the garbage. One big factor very few buyers even realize is a big factor is who is the reinsurance provider on the product you are buying. Many are not reinsured and are literally worthless. Florida residents have an advantage because warranty coverage are considered an instrument of insurance so it's much harder to sell garbage warranties in Florida. i like Zurich personally.

      Do not trust any third party provide of an extended service contract. These are not warrantees, only the manufacturer issues a warranty with the sale of a new vehicle. All third party ESCs are garbage. They all have small print designed to not pay claims.
      Always remember neither Chris Berman or Ice-T are your friends. Do you really care if Ice-T loves his cars?
      If you want an ESC, only buy one from the manufacturer. Those will actually pay claims.

    My current car is a 2007 Mazda CX9. I purchased it in 2017 with 54K miles. Since the car was already 10 years old I purchased the dealer's Extended Warranty through Mazda. The cost of the contract was $1300. I have always purchased the warranty with every car that I have ever purchased. Most times the warranty went unused. This time I was extremely happy that I made the purchase. The warranty was 48 months, 48K miles. As it went I had another 8K left on the extended warranty when my water pump failed and dumped coolant into the engine. The dealer told me that I needed a new engine. I told them to go ahead since I had the extended warranty. As it turned out the warranty covered most of the new engine (they would not cover more than I had paid for the car and I had previously had some work done under the warranty.) I ended up with a rebuilt engine in my car and they provided a new loaner for me to use for at least a month. Glad I made that purchase.

    He is 100% Correct about the average cost of a repair at a dealership see the garage rips you off just like the sales department then charge you a $120 for 5 minutes of work right off the bat. Average cost of a diagnostic at a car dealership is $120 and they charge you theoretical hours if the computer says the job takes 3 hours to do the job and they have a really good mechanic who does it in 2 you're still get billed for 3 and the average dealership is charging right around $75 a hour in labor.

    • @robertscott305
      @robertscott305 8 місяців тому

      @lacherokeedecaceria1263 Yes, I'm a 100% sure. Yes, I know you buy your tools. But you don't buy them all once you buy them over time. the company that I work for their mechanics. Get a tool allowance to help pay for those tools. The company also has a laptop that runs diagnostics on their trucks. it don't take the more than 5 minutes to find out what's wrong with the trucks. And they don't take them or to 5 minutes to clear the codes and check them again. It's not worth a 125 to $200 to check f****** codes on a car.

    • @robertscott305
      @robertscott305 8 місяців тому +1

      @lacherokeedecaceria1263 Besides that, I use a local garage to fix my cars. I don't trust dealerships.he charges around $50 an hour less, and he doesn't charge me theoretically hours. He charges me what take, and there's never a diagnostic feed on the bill. I have been going to him for over 30 years? Why? Because he doesn't rip me off. Besides that modern Vehicles for nothing but big computer. Information center on the dash is nothing but a laptop. The manufacturers could put the software in that laptop (information center) On your dash it could read all the codes itself. if they did that the garage couldn't rip you off.

      @@robertscott305 wrong !! The computer tells you the trouble code but it’s up to the mechanic to find out why that code popped up . Broken wire , corroded connector , shorted wire , bad sensor ,bad ECU etc etc etc etc….. Many people think it’s as simple as plugging in the OBD scanner and presto ! It tells you what is exactly wrong. There are technicians/mechanics and there are part swappers that like to guess at what failed and they use the customers money to do so . I used to work at a local parts house many many years ago and you’d be surprised at how many people would come in and buy a part and 2 hours later buy another part or try to return the first part they bought because the mechanic sent them there , back and forth , back and forth until they guessed it right . Or many people would come in and buy hundreds or thousands of dollars because the mechanic said so . Basically rebuilding the entire system hoping that amongst all those parts the bad one was also replaced and the problem fixed.

      @lacherokeedecaceria1263 I'm gonna straight up call you Liar. I owned a 04 SS impala. The check engine light came on, so I called the dealership that I purchased the car from and made an appointment to have it checked. When they took my car in to check it from where I was standing, I could see my car. The mechanic brought this cabinet out. I'm assuming it had a desktop in it because I could see the keyboard and the monitor with a cable coming out of the side of it, he plugged in to my car, he hit a couple keys, walked over to me and said you're gas cap is bad You need a new one. He put a new gas cap on it. Punch to couple more keys. Put the cabinet away and hand me a bill for $140 to replace a gas cap. You're a bunch of thieves. Trade the impala on a 13 cruise. Now GM wanting to pay for Onstar so they told me they could run Diagnostics straight through the Onstar system. The dealership told me even though i'd start can run to diagnostic. I should allow them to run the diagnostic Just to make sure they're not wrong. No, just to make sure you can rip me off.

    Back in 2006 I bought a used '97 f150 v6 2wd (totalled truck in 2014). I was dumb enough to pay an extra $400 for a Lubrico used car extended warranty. In 2008 the truck got this vibration but only between 80-100 kph, below or above that the truck ran fine. The warranty was their full coverage warranty which included electronics, AC and power train etc... I had the truck fixed (a weight had fallen off causing the driveshaft to become unbalanced.) for $220. When I went to make a claim on the warranty I was told that the drive shaft is not a part of the powertrain. After multiple calls to them and getting the same BS answer I asked the guy on the phone that if the drive shaft is not part of the powertrain then how exactly does the power get to the rear differential from the transmission??? The guy just told me to F-off and they would no longer take my calls and they blacklisted my account. Lubrico??? hmm the only thing the "Lubricoed" was $400 outta my wallet. I have never bought another warranty since.

      I had a similar experience with a 2018 Mustang GT 6sp manual, I purchased new with a 3yr extended warranty. In 2021 my shifter broke off and I took it to the dealer who told me the shifter was not covered. I disputed that until I was near blue in the face and they staunchly stood by their story. My luck with warranties runs about 50%. It seems most times I bring a car in for repair under full coverage bumper to bumper the dealer has some BS explanation that the repair isn’t covered. Ya I’m fed up with warranties but what are you going to do? You can’t go without them because your setting yourself up for more expense just by the small stuff it covers. I think it’s all a scam just like back in the old days with the added cost for undercoat, what a joke and a rip

    Had extended factory warranty on my vehicle. Problem was getting the dealer service to fix it. Had 5 things fixed at dealer under factory Warranty and each time it took 6 to 8 weeks to get the part and put it in. Warranty work gets shoved at the back of the line. But, when I had something fixed out of Warranty, it was 2 weeks tops to get it done. After extended research, I found that with warranty work, the dealer has to cross every T and dot every I, and doesn't get paid as much from warranty work as out of pocket, so are reluctant to do warranty work.

    I learned my lesson a long time ago. The transmission on my Impala would not shift. It turned out that the modulator valve was bad. EXTERNAL PARTS WERE NOT COVERED. When I worked for a Ford dealership, warranty work was always given as punishment to the out of favor mechanic. I buy cheap cars now. When they break, I just throw them away.

    We recently bought a newer Traverse Premier and we got a really decent 4 year warranty on it with a zero deductible no matter where we take it. And we’ve already had to fix the common Shift to Park problem, and a replacement LED tail light housing due to a bad seal allowing moisture to get in. Took it to McLuskey up here in Cincinnati and they’ve been great with it.

    I've got a Mustang Ecoboost. I've still got an engine claim pending so I don't want to speak of too many details. Let me just say they didn't need to cover the first part of my claim prior to the engine claim as they were notified after the work was already done, and they covered 3200 of my almost 4k bill. I didn't realize my warranty was still valid at the time. It's been at the dealer for 8 weeks since then awaiting an engine claim, and I assume all is going well between the warranty co and the dealership it's being serviced at. So far, I'm pretty happy with the experience.

I was given $4,710 for a 6 year 150k coverage thru a 3rd party company Endurance. My local dealership where i purchased it started offering me $5,813 for 150k miles. I told them about the 3rd party price and that i know warranty sales have gone up 40-50% in last few years and that they charge 2-3x what it costs them. they brought it down to 4,613. I got them down to $4,500. Still way more than i wanted to be spending.

    I've sold/financed cars & trucks for 35yrs. I learned a lot about dealerships. There three things that will make your life a whole lot easier when it comes to Vehicles: Never Buy New......Never Buy Extended Warranties......Most importantly never go to a Dealership for anything.....The best way to think when you do walk into a dealership is "Mafia" (Ironically many are Mob owned) every single facet of these companies are to skim as much cream from you as the can and leave you gutted. Want a real extended warranty....Put the money an extended warranty would have cost in a separate bank account. Chances are if you bought a good car to begin with, you may never even use it.
