honestly, having short hair is one of the best decisions I ever made. And lot's of other women over the years have told me that it looks great because I have a good face for it but what I tell everyone is it's all in the attitude. you have to wear it with confidence. fake it till you make it!! I encourage everyone to do it at least once in their lifetime. at first it's weird but you get use to it and learn to love it! I also got used to wearing blush, mascara and lipstick to keep my look "girly". If you don't like it, it's just hair, it grows back. if all else fails, there are some very great wigs out there.
Shes so minimalist she doesn't even have hair 😂 Seriously though, your hair was really pretty and I'm glad you're donating it. My niece and mother both were cheered up recieving their donated hair wigs during chemo.
😂 Shaved head and underarms is not Minimalist nor Vegan. 😂It kills animals due to water waste to remove hair, and shaving products cause deforestation all for Vanity! Plus long hair is Natural State for both Genders and thus Gender Equality

You look STUNNING! Honestly, it really suits you :) The best part about hair is that it grows back so if you get bored, it's not a permanent change (unless you want it to be). I think you are very brave, because it is a huge change and feels weird in the beginning. When I cut half of my hair last year, I felt very anxious and like I was grieving, I wasn't feeling myself. But I never had short hair in my life and it was first time for me :)) So I think, most important is to not second guess yourself, you've made a right choice :) You look fabulous and donating hair is a wonderful thing to do xx
That's so awesome!! I'm a dude and my ex and I used to shave each others heads. Honestly I like how much women with shaved heads kind of break that norm ya know? Also, my mom does this in honor of her mother who died of cancer.

Yes! Once I gave thought, I started to feel sorry for all the little girls whose parents will not cut their hair. Everyone telling them how beautiful their hair is...I feel the little girls are defined by a feature instead of their inner beauty.

Shaving my head was one of the most freeing experiences I've ever had. I never felt more feminine in my life than the time I did when my head was shaved. It looks great on you!
You look amazing! I shaved my head about 5 years ago and I loved it. It was probably and inch long and I wish I had gone just a little shorter. It's really liberating and low maintenance to have short hair.
@Brianna B I don't remember exactly how long it took to grow out. I kept it shaved on the sides on long on the top for a long time. The growing out process did feel like it took forever and was a bit awkward because of the different lengths.

Could you please tell more about that difference in treatment. I've always had short hair (shorter versions of pixie cut, as I have small face and lot of hair, so it suits me the best. I let it grow once, at 14-15, and hated how it looked) I'm really curious what I'm maybe missing?

Donating is very admirable and I love that you’re confident to say to the World, “My hair doesn’t define me or determine my beauty!!” I wish we could declare 2020 as the year when every woman shaved their heads just to prove that to the World (and especially men!).

You're rocking it, and the best part is that your joy is radiating out of you. I had a pixie cut for a couple years (and donated 10 inches) and it was super liberating to have a low maintenance style.
I have a pixie cut and even I for a moment thought "No!" when you started to cut it. Just goes to show how a specific definition of beauty is so deeply ingrained into us. Your hair is going to be a beautiful gift for someone and you look so rad (sorry, it's an 90s kind of day) with short hair!

I cut mine really short when I started getting really severe migraines years ago and could not deal with the long hair and being sick all the time. I lean over the tub to clip it so it doesn't get all over me. The first time I had it done by a beautician - the cut was called "the brush cut". I realized after that I could use the clippers. I take them all different directions in order to not have any left poking up. It was a real relief not to have long hair hanging in the toilet or a barf bucket any more whenever I'd get a migraine. What a difference. Fortunately I had the head shape to look good with it that way. I used to have long hair, too, so I know it takes courage to do this. I even grieved for a while. Does that sound crazy?
No, it sounds like you were having trouble saying goodbye to a part of you that was tied to your identity. It's normal to feel a sense of (potentially deep) loss until you adjust more to the new reality. May your migraines go away for good soon! :)

I love it! Over the span of a few years, my hair went from long to shoulder length to an a bob to shaved in the back and sided, with only an inch or two on top. I had it professionally done the first 2 times and then figured out how to do it myself. I am so damn happy and will keep it this way for the long run. It’s 11 months since my brain surgery where I loss my left side vision permanently and my eye shape changed too. Now looks droopy and smaller. And when you said you looked yourself in the morning and for a second didn’t recognize yourself, I felt so related. I definitely still don’t recognize myself and while I am happy to be alive I still can’t be happy with this new version of me that I didn’t choose to change. I loved my eyes before. Not so much now. It’s been quite a journey of recovery. Not being able to work. Not being able to do my normal activities. Living with headaches all day. And also dealing with the loss of vision and “acceptance” of the new me. It’s hard. But looking your big change, inspires me. Maybe I need a makeover or something like that. I’ve never died my hair completely. Just a balayage. I wonder if anyone has any ideas on what I should do. I’d love to hear from you.
I have shaved my hair for 40 years with a few period of long wild hair. I have always defined beauty by my own standards and the freedom is AMAZING. Plus, I have the most perfectly shaped head that I like to flaunt. LOL!

Yes girl, you look gorgeous! I did this a year ago and it feels so liberating! And if you ever wanna grow it out again, don't worry about the growing out proces! Growing it out is really fun because the length changes a lot and you can try many different hairstyes :)
I lost all my hair at 11 bc of cancer and not washing my hair was so great lol. also I had a wig by a charity so its nice you donate your hair, the wig owners take good care of them :)
I just shaved my head last Friday (less than a week ago). Not because I wanted to.... because I have sudden onset of alopecia along with other autoimmune diseases. You look great. I know the back of my head hair lays flat and the top is fluffy. Granted, mine is basically a zero, so basically just stubble as I have big bald patches from my illness. You are so generous to donate your hair. 💖 Thank you for those of us who basically don't have a choice. 😊💖 and btw... you look great with it buzzed!
As someone who has has various haircuts that involve shaving since 1986, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I have hair similar to bear fur 🐻, so growing it is never an option for me. I remember one time in particular, I had a woman with cancer and on chemo come up to me and say that she was inspired by my shaved head and she took the kerchief off of her head and said she was going to show off her head more because of me. She told me that she did not realize that shorn haired women looked so good. Made me feel really great to help her feel braver.

I cut my hair all the time and have kept those "ponytails" separately in baggies. Been only doing this for about nine years but it's interesting to see how the color has changed. When I was younger I would cut my hair very short but never shaved...I have my father's hairline unfortunately. One of the best haircuts I ever gave myself was the day after a Halloween party. I went as The Joker and teased and moussed my tri color hair. Looked really ratty fabulous but the next morning I couldn't get a comb through it...but just combed as far as I could and cut...combed and cut. Each cut was a different length but all short.
I think you’re absolutely beautiful and also brave to try this! I regularly do the big chop (usually just a bob) and you save a lot of product and water by having short hair. Also, it’s good to redefine beauty for yourself once in a while!

Same dude told me that my best feature was my hair. I hate having long hair. I want to shave it so that I can have more confidence just being ME.
Kelly - RIGHT?!? i just want to cut off all my hair, but i’m not 18 so i can’t make that decision on my own unfortunately :( i don’t want my best trait to be my hair because i feel i have so much more to offer than just “nice hair” !! i don’t get the obsession for women to have long hair 😫
@Dede August who are women like me? I don't blame men for everything but their biases and opinions seem to.matter more in society than women's and everything is catered to them, even how women look.
I ve watched so many of these videos and you are the only person who is honest, humble and who who shows gratitude for their hair and typically you are the most beautiful and you dont see it!!

Love your thought process about shaving it off. Donating is very admirable and I love that you’re confident to say to the World, “My hair doesn’t define me or determine my beauty!!” I wish we could declare 2020 as the year when every woman shaved their heads just to prove that to the World (and especially men!).

I've been *trying* to grow my hair for the past four or five months since I stopped bleaching it, but it's so curly it grows at such a snail's pace, I don't think it's ever been past my collar bones. At this point I'm like "JUST SHAVE IT OFF" but honestly, I'm too scared to 😂 I totally commend you for doing this, there's such a societal stigma attached to a woman's hair, and having long hair is such a sign of ~femininity~ that I feel like a lot of girls are too apprehensive to because they won't fit that stereotype of "princess with long flowing locks". But look at you! You're like a badass warrior queen, and I'm here for every single moment of it. I'm totally living vicariously through you right now 😂 rock that short hair, you look like a goddess 💙

You're rocking it, and the best part is that your joy is radiating out of you. I had a pixie cut for a couple years (and donated 10 inches) and it was super liberating to have a low maintenance style.
I have a pixie cut and even I for a moment thought "No!" when you started to cut it. Just goes to show how a specific definition of beauty is so deeply ingrained into us. Your hair is going to be a beautiful gift for someone and you look so rad (sorry, it's an 90s kind of day) with short hair!

I haven't ever shaved my head, but I cut my waist-length hair into a pixie at the beginning of grade 12 and I got so much hate for cutting my hair before grad, but honestly I loved it. I'm back to long hair now but there's something really liberating about just getting it all off...literally a weight lifted.

Beautiful! I don’t like it when magazines or UA-cam videos say: styles for short hair, and then it is all about at least shoulder length. Or they don’t even mention short hair. I have had short hair since high school. It is not easier than some longer hair (mine isn’t anyway) but i like it.

I cut mine really short when I started getting really severe migraines years ago and could not deal with the long hair and being sick all the time. I lean over the tub to clip it so it doesn't get all over me. The first time I had it done by a beautician - the cut was called "the brush cut". I realized after that I could use the clippers. I take them all different directions in order to not have any left poking up. It was a real relief not to have long hair hanging in the toilet or a barf bucket any more whenever I'd get a migraine. What a difference. Fortunately I had the head shape to look good with it that way. I used to have long hair, too, so I know it takes courage to do this. I even grieved for a while. Does that sound crazy?

I love it! Over the span of a few years, my hair went from long to shoulder length to an a bob to shaved in the back and sided, with only an inch or two on top. I had it professionally done the first 2 times and then figured out how to do it myself. I am so damn happy and will keep it this way for the long run. I love that you taped the process and your thoughts. Thanks!

It’s 11 months since my brain surgery where I loss my left side vision permanently and my eye shape changed too. Now looks droopy and smaller. And when you said you looked yourself in the morning and for a second didn’t recognize yourself, I felt so related. I definitely still don’t recognize myself and while I am happy to be alive I still can’t be happy with this new version of me that I didn’t choose to change. I loved my eyes before. Not so much now. It’s been quite a journey of recovery. Not being able to work. Not being able to do my normal activities. Living with headaches all day. And also dealing with the loss of vision and “acceptance” of the new me. It’s hard. But looking your big change, inspires me. Maybe I need a makeover or something like that. I’ve never died my hair completely. Just a balayage. I wonder if anyone has any ideas on what I should do. I’d love to hear from you.

I have shaved my hair for 40 years with a few period of long wild hair. I have always defined beauty by my own standards and the freedom is AMAZING. Plus, I have the most perfectly shaped head that I like to flaunt. LOL!

Yes girl, you look gorgeous! I did this a year ago and it feels so liberating! And if you ever wanna grow it out again, don't worry about the growing out proces! Growing it out is really fun because the length changes a lot and you can try many different hairstyes :)
I lost all my hair at 11 bc of cancer and not washing my hair was so great lol. also I had a wig by a charity so its nice you donate your hair, the wig owners take good care of them :)
I just shaved my head last Friday (less than a week ago). Not because I wanted to.... because I have sudden onset of alopecia along with other autoimmune diseases. You look great. I know the back of my head hair lays flat and the top is fluffy. Granted, mine is basically a zero, so basically just stubble as I have big bald patches from my illness. You are so generous to donate your hair. 💖 Thank you for those of us who basically don't have a choice. 😊💖 and btw... you look great with it buzzed!

As someone who has has various haircuts that involve shaving since 1986, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I have hair similar to bear fur 🐻, so growing it is never an option for me. I remember one time in particular, I had a woman with cancer and on chemo come up to me and say that she was inspired by my shaved head and she took the kerchief off of her head and said she was going to show off her head more because of me. She told me that she did not realize that shorn haired women looked so good. Made me feel really great to help her feel braver.
So glad you did this for a good cause.

I cut my hair all the time and have kept those "ponytails" separately in baggies. Been only doing this for about nine years but it's interesting to see how the color has changed. When I was younger I would cut my hair very short but never shaved...I have my father's hairline unfortunately. One of the best haircuts I ever gave myself was the day after a Halloween party. I went as The Joker and teased and moussed my tri color hair. Looked really ratty fabulous but the next morning I couldn't get a comb through it...but just combed as far as I could and cut...combed and cut. Each cut was a different length but all short.

I think you’re absolutely beautiful and also brave to try this! I regularly do the big chop (usually just a bob) and you save a lot of product and water by having short hair. Also, it’s good to redefine beauty for yourself once in a while!
