Most actors know that, at some point, they’re going to have to cut and color their hair for a part in a movie or tv show. But sometimes, a role requires an even bigger change: a fully shaved head. While these days it’s easy enough for the amazing makeup and CGI teams to work around an actors real hair, there are the rare actors who are not only willing to cut their hair for real, but actually want to do it! Whether it’s to lend authenticity to a role, to fully get into the character, or just because it would make things a whole lot easier, these fearless actors threw caution to the wind and pulled out the clippers. Kristen Stewart had always wanted to shave off her famous brown locks, and when her deep sea thriller Underwater came along, it was the perfect opportunity. Millie Bobby Brown was only twelve years old when she shaved her head for Eleven in Stranger Things, and never looked back. Karen Gillan was terrified to cut her gorgeous red hair to play Nebula in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, but when Marvel comes calling, you don’t say no. The Kissing Booth’s Joey King went bald for her role in The Act, Cara Delevigne did the same to play opposite Jaden Smith in Life In A Year, and Amandla Stenberg felt totally liberated by their own head-shaving journey. Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, and Olivia Cooke all did it on screen, but no one beats Charlize Theron and her iconic look as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road!

I just shaved my head two days ago and it’s honestly bizarrely cathartic. I was terrified, but I had to for medical reasons and I’m honestly loving it. I love how I look. It makes my features look way more feminine somehow. And I love how excited I am to really just be able to grow my hair out healthy. I get to really take care of it this time and grow super healthy hair. It’s liberating too, and I just feel great with it.
There are times in life when even the smallest words or actions are infused with the most exquisite meaning.

There was a Brazilian actress who shaved her head in the episode of the soap opera and her sad reaction was real because she was super nervous about shaving her hair
Her name is Carolina Dieckmann and the tv show was called "Laços de familia". Her character had cancer. The scene was so touching and her performance outstanding.

Millie actually got her inspiration to shave her head from Charlize Theron. Millie’s mother protested but Millie was excited and wanted to do it.
Matt and Ross continuously cheering up Millie with clicks while her hair was being cut is so heart warming 💕. Millie truly rocked that look 🔥. All this paid off really well.

The most iconic woman who shaved her head for a role was not mentioned and that is the lovely beautiful extremely talented Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley who shaved her head bald for the film Alien 3

I know how some of these actors and actresses feel, recently I shaved my hair and I was SO scared. But now I'm so grateful I did it because now getting ready for school is so much easier..

Let's not forget Indian actress Persis Khambatta, who played the Deltan navigator Lieutenant Ilia in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." She actually cried when they shaved her hair off for the role, as shown in behind-the-scenes footage for the movie, back when it was still "Star Trek: Phase II."

The most important is to respect the cast choice. I mean in plural about the actors who agreed to lose their hair to play the characters and although in the beggining looks scary, in the end they loved to do the work and their hair grew up again(different,but cool).

Me cries when I got a little piece of hair cut so it can all be the same not some taller than the rest
I’m growing my hair very long (hopefully) because it’s a hairstyle I’ve never had. After that I want to try a bunch of haircuts until finally try out shaving it. The only thing that makes me think twice is that I had alopecia areata once and I wouldn’t like to have fully bald patches in my head that I wouldn’t be able to hide. Because my wish is to shave it “long”, like 2 centimeters or so.

When I was asked by the doctor that I should lose my hair to do the head surgery and maybe I could lose my vision too, I told myself BE BRAVE! IT IS BETTER BE CURED THAN HAVE HAIR AND NEAR DEATH. In the end Doctor was gentle and I didn't have to lose all my hair,just half of it and I can still see.
So I believe the actors had the same feeling as I before playing the characters.

But no one mentions Keanu Reeves in The Matrix and The Matrix Resurrections. What's more his costar and friend Carrie-Anne Moss did the same thing for the fourth part only for a few scenes.
