I did an alternator relocation a/c delete 180° thermostat and the power gain and cooler temps I got was amazing also a clutch fan hub eliminator so the mechanical fan spins with the belt

Have you ever blown up a fan from removing the clutch fan? I’ve thought if that but never tried it. Years ago I had a flex fan on my 65 Chevelle

@@fabguy276 no it's been on there for about a year so it's just an aluminum hub with the fan on it and I haven't had any problems

How come your nifty shifter broke what happened do you know? Or did it just die entirely. Im not familiar with the one for the obd2 cherokees and how different those are versus mine.
I was reading about how to set up the aw4 for manual shifting without a nifty shifter and using switches and stuff with the stock wiring but i really like having my stock features. But anyways there is a way to install a torque converter lock switch without the nifty shifter if you want to do that it might help if you liked having that feature youll definitely stay cooler in the sand. Im not sure what people do about the TCM if it bothers the TCM when you lock the converter on a switch but i dont think it would it shouldnt the only thing i can think of is it probably doesn't want to shift with the converter locked so youd probably want the TCM off im guessing. You can run without a TCM ive seen people do that and set it up for only manual shifting but when you put it in drive youd be stuck in 4th so youd have to shift manually. Since the aw4 has the throttle valve cable that controls your pressures and it will all function just fine without the TCM except it wont shift it will just be in whichever gear you put it in via the shifter.
Im not saying you should delete your TCM im just saying its fairly resilient and simple so i think you could keep the TCM powered like normal and lock the converter on a switch. The torque converter has its own solenoid so say you lock it then the TCM goes to lock it i dont think that would have any negative effect all you'd be doing is jumpering that wire with a switch and sending it a signal. The only thing id be worried about is it shifting automatically while locked. It may be worth it if you liked that feature and you dont want the nifty shifter. There are tutorials on how to wire it and add switches to turn off the TCM and get manual shifting and a torque converter lock without the nifty shifter that would be very reliable i have a friend who has daily driven his without a TCM for going on like 7 or 8 years now and he just shifts it himself he drives a lot too well over 100k miles like that. My wife also drove hers for a few months without a TCM. So turning the TCM off to manual shift shouldn't hurt it but id never delete mine i like having it shift for me when i want.
I would also wire in a little warning light on your 12v signal for when the torque converter is on, i think youd be able to use a one way diode to make the lighy only work with the switch and not from the TCM signal if you wanted to get fancy. It might be cool to do some sort of switch on the steering wheel or something easily tripped on and off for the torque converter when bombing through the desert something like a nitrous button on the steering wheel with the coily cord but with a latching button instead of momentary.

That fan looks a little vulnerable.

I don’t disagree but it is higher than my rock sliders and the stuff I do is mostly desert so I doubt I would ever rip it off. If I hit the fan in a rock I would be having bigger issues than just that. lol
