- In this video guide we show you how to fit architrave to an uneven door frame.
Most door frames are flush and it's easier to fit as all angled cuts are 45 degrees. However if your door frame is out of line then you will need to work out the angled cuts. This video shows you how to measure up and cut the pieces for the process.
Awesome! This is the most thorough method to fit architrave on any jamb regardless of the condition or angle or plumb. Thank you kindly.
Best video for the real world fitting architrave on UA-cam.
Fitted my PVC architrave perfectly after watching . Thank you for your valuable instruction, it is appreciated.
Thank you for this info
, I tried this yesterday and have a perfect fitting architrave, renovating is expensive so doing a lot of work ourselves, but want to do it right, thank you 😀
Got mine fitted perfect after watching this !! Thank you 🙏
Thanks from Australia! Very handy in my old house, will now avoid some of my old atrocities! Cheers PP
Nice tutorial! Who would have thought that all that geometry they teach at school might actually be useful in real trades? 😉
Brilliant, easy to understand tried this worked perfect, your a genius.
Very nice easy way this is! I have been watching a lot of videos but this is first video to understand and do it nicely! 👍🏾
Great tutorial mate
I was trying to fit architrave on a really uneven door frame last night and failed miserably. Can't believe how easy it is to do after seeing this video. Thank you Sir!
No worries, glad we managed to help :)
Nice one. Well presented. Keeping it simple.
great technique, made fitting mine easy.
Very informative video , brilliant
Absolutely perfect thank you!
The tips shared here are invaluable! It's a shame the person behind the camera or phone did not record the steps clearly. A real shame! I'd suggest you record it again. Thank you anyway. I'll put it into practice straight way (after watching a few times). 😉
excellent really helpful video and well explained
I must say that's a great video. I wish things end up that easy when I try to do something lol.
Good video fella.
I Struggled today!
I Wish I’d of watched it last night!
great video guys
I like it chap 👍🏻
A well executed Vid ! Nice quality sound and good clear instruction. 5 *****
very helpful - thank you
They've bugfered up the top right corner in tjis example but it's a good technique.
This is a great video!
Nice tip, but just for the folks doing this (dont forget to adjust the mitre angle on your drop saw....use your bevel to adjust the angle on the saw, if those cuts aren't exactly 45 degrees....if the door frame is out then they won't be, hence old mates video..hopefully you have decent 'indents' on your drop saw base) Run a test cut on some scrap timber if you have them to check the mitre angles. If you're using a Paslode 'Angled Finsh Gun...throw it in the bin and get a 'Straight magazine gun' as used in the video...lol.
Great tip mate. Thanks for sharing
Great video! Just got a little dizzy with the shaking... haha
Great Job📐🔨👍🏽
Depending on how accurate your miter saw is you can use a Stratton angle finder in the 2 corners...also I don’t use miter fix anymore I find hot glue is better
Mitre joint top right was a big rough.
Yes, this is the right / fast / easy way of doing it. Gluing together the architrave and pin it on.
Most "clever" diy videos show how to fiddle endlessly with all the measurement of all the pieces, and at the end the joints will have gaps.
Great vid, thanks.
No worries, thanks for watching.
Good presentation, easy to follow and very informative
Spot on.
Good job
Right hand mitre has a gap.
Legend
I've never lived in a house where the door frames were perfectly square.
Haha, in my house I don't do carpentry, I'm into wood sculpture!
Hi, is there a way to contact you? I'm trying to put architrave on the outside of my shed door as there are gaps
Why did you put a line on the wall with your level ? Just put the bevel to the marks mate
Cheers
informative vid but did the cameraman go to the pub at lunch?
What was that music in the background called please?
Annoying.
Architrave is a secret British code word used to keep Yanks from making properly fitted door casing
Rubbish. Their quality of workmanship is far superior to the crap that's over here.
@@cygnus108 agree but then they do fell a forest to make one house
What was the spray you used before you put the glue on the end of the molding?
Why did you have to send 4/5 nails through one area (top left corner) when applying architrave?
Please list your glue, spray, and nail gun.
the spray is the activator for the mitre glue.
do not glue up an architrave before fitting
Blimey I was doing this wrong!
👍
I really enjoy plans from woodprix.

Watched 10 seconds, the shaking was doing my head in
great video, until pinned it on, and became the decorators nightmare.
get a tripod
I did similar technique on a job for an Indian then he said my architrave wasn't straight and didnt want to pay me he didnt believe me that the door wasn't square and straight he took me to fair trade he lost and had to pay plus 15% because I stamp my invoices with a 30 day payment after that I charge 15% for lawyer fees tax
loss of income to pay employees so in the end don't work for Indians let indians barter with themselves and Chinese always pay cash witch is a bonus besides the indians I'd say it's an asian thing cash is always better
Tjrn 420 there are more then 1,35 billion Indian ppl I am sure they are not all the same ;) this measurement fits on any background :)
What in Hell is Architrave?
Hi Larry,
Architrave is an interior moulding which is fitted around the edge of the door frame. This helps cover up any plastering issues near the frame and adds a decorative feature.
over here we say 3mm lol
Over here we say CASING!
Gave me a headache to watch. You need a better camera person!
Thanks for your feedback, we shall keep this in mind for future productions.
