I have been struggling with VLBI for about 2 weeks now for a presentation on SgrA* and you have basically answered all my questions. Thank you so much for this video!
hello Liam. I am planning to do a Ph.D. in geodesy with a specialization in VLBI. I'll be very happy if you share your research idea if possible, please. Thanks
Hey I am here after , the most clearest picture of blackhole by eht , with use of multi colour ability .... Seeing this video for knowing vlbi ,feel great people making video on this since 2019 wow 😮

Hi! Thanks for the amazing video! I'm left wondering if we as the public, have access to the single wave patterns that created the final image. If not, if someone is able to connect me with anybody that has access to them, i'd be extremely grateful. I had never seen something as jaw dropping as this...
Note that formula Theta = lambda/diameter is incomplete. Usually it is Theta = 1.22 * (lambda/diameter) of the antenna dish. That is in radians (!). To get the angle in degrees, you should multiply the result with (180/PI, or 180/3.14.......). Or, good approximation is to use formula; Theta= 70 * (lambda/diameter). For days I am trying to make radio telescope for neutral Hydrogen at 1.42 GHz using 80 cm antenna dish, but having problem with various feed types. Patch feed is okay, but horn feed gives me slightly better result. Remains helix feed to try. I am getting a signal, but antenna feed capturing too much thermal noise from various directions.
Because every participating dish needs to be recording at exactly the same time. If you record two signals six months apart they’ll be completely different and you won’t be able to compare them to find the phase difference.
You could probably make it work if the earth revolved around the sun with a frequency higher than the signal, but that would be billions of times per second.
@@AdrianBoyko I love to hear those gears moving. I'll bet someone will figure it out. You obviously know what I mean. Its like when they used it to triangulate distance. I have lots of strange and unique ideas. I think someday they will get dinosaur DNA from outside our atmosphere. That cloud that blocked the sun and killed them off 65 million years ago when the meteor impacted the Yucatan peninsula would perfectly preserve it in space-somewhere. Thanks for your replies. I like it.

Wow this is great, im doing a project on interferometry and this is by far the best explanation I've come across so far, thanks!

Someone finally explained how it works in a way that I could understand. Well done, sir!
Thank you so much this video is perfect, helped me a lot

Awesome explanation.
Here from veritasium's video, great stuff!
They need to record M87 for a year while the earth orbits the sun to make a telescope with a mirror the size of earth orbit.
Excellent explanation!
Great fucking video, made a whole project work based on it, saved so many hours. youre a god

Nice explanation

Great job of explaining. Instead of using a dish the size of the earth why don't they use a dish the size of the travel of Earth throughout a year?
Because every participating dish needs to be recording at exactly the same time. If you record two signals six months apart they’ll be completely different and you won’t be able to compare them to find the phase difference.
You could probably make it work if the earth revolved around the sun with a frequency higher than the signal, but that would be billions of times per second.
And orbiting the sun billions of times a second would mean traveling much much faster than the speed of light, so that’s out.
