Sister,is it Khichree or Biryaanee?,.lnfact Khichree is a very light dish ,without all these strong spices, and is usually cooked for the sick or weak people.We cook dhulee moong,yellow lentil , Khichree,or red lentil,dhulee Musoor ke daal Khichree.ln both cases l fry red onion slices,untill it becomes ,a little bit brown,then l add whole white Cumin seeds,red button whole chillies,salt,and chopped garlic,and as soon as,the aroma of garlic starts coming out ,l add yellow lentil and rice,with double the amount of water,as the total amount of rice and daal ,l cook it until the level of water and the Khichree becomes almost the same ,and after that l lower the 🔥 flame to its lowest point and let it simmer for 10_15 minutes .No need of soaking of rice or lentils is required,l don't use pressure cooker for this purpose.l use old Baasmutee rice for this purpose,as they cook so well (We buy old Baasmutee rice,from a nearby old shop,which has a commercial wheat_ grinding machine,chukkee,as the shopkeeper sells the freshly ground wheat,oat,millet,corn, gram ,flours, and spices,at his shop,along with old rice of all types,porridges etc etc in his shop).Prayers for the video _makers from Raawulpindee, Northern province of Punjaab, lslaamic Republic of Paakistaan, South Asia 🌏😊.
This is not 5 star. The whole point of Khichdi is to boil lentils, veggies and rice together from the get go so all the flavours mingle. Only tadka is added at the end. Some people also add the whole spices initially and only ghee is added at the end with additional dash of tadka if needed. The whole point of Khichdi is it is light on the stomach so it should not be so spicy and red in colour. Have never seen yoghurt put on top of the Khichdi, it is served separately in a bowl and eaten separately in between morsels of Khichdi. Really strange way of cooking, veggies are an integral part of Khichdi but hardly saw any.
I agree... Also Khichdi is a very rustic dish and I would never use basmati rice for it. Taste wise, I'm sure this recipe will be equally delicious, but Texture wise not so much

Khichdi is an Indian dish and is prepared only when there is some stomach problem or any other health issue etc.because it's easy to get digested by a sick person. You have used excessive Ghee which is contrary to it's basic benefits. Giving it foreign name like 5 star is OK for trying a new dish but never for Khichdi .
Good. But you added ginger before jeera crackled. The jeera won't crackle after that, and it's flavor will not infuse in the ghee. It would be great if people taught the nuances of cooking rather than repeating the age old dishes

Looks delicious. But why twice tadka, with so much ghee? I love ghee, but in moderation. Then 3rd time ghee on top too?
That’s what i observed. Anything in moderation is good for you. Too much of ghee and tadka. Not required. Thumbs down.
