    The more I watch his coaching the more I appreciate him.
    He explains katas very well. With him it's not only learning some moves, but understanding each of them.
    Thank you.

    how you doing sensei i have a question, what are the katas by belt rank to reach blackbelt in shotokan.

    • @MegaMoh
      @MegaMoh 7 років тому +3

      1.heian shodan
      2.heian nidan
      3.heian sandan
      4.heian yondan
      5.heian godan
      6.tekkie shodan
      7.bassai dai
      And after bassai dai there is no order for the katas but some katas can never come before others.
      For example, kanku dai must be took in the duration after bassai dai, the difference might be a difference of 3-4 katas depending on your school, but it cant come after unsu.

    • @yangchensun5546
      @yangchensun5546 6 років тому +1

      +MegaMoh
      After (6) Tekki Shodan, I went on to learn the other two Tekki (Nidan and Sandan) before learning (7) Bassai Dai.
      After that, I learned Kankudai, and then Enpi.
      Am I learning it the wrong sequence because I find Enpi easier than Bassai Dai, not that the latter was difficult either.

    I can agree with everything else but using a downward block from a kneel like that is much less practical than the grappling arm break the movement conceals. I do like the gedan uki use of short power though.

      kata isn't a form of karate. it determines the belt. if I were you, go to the classes DON'T just learn from youtube videos.

    • @gatooncracko527
      @gatooncracko527 8 років тому

      +Trinity Xavier it is a form of karate, what is it a form of then? youtube videos of katas also help some people. i mean without the video of hangetsu kata i couldnt have gotten the black belt. :)

    • @gatooncracko527
