Part 2, printing embedded magnets will be up this weekend. I figured it deserved a standalone video. 🍻

Excellent video and a fun project. This video solved a couple of problems that have been giving me grief. The answer was simple once you showed me how. Thanks, and Cheers!

    Nice.
    But some hints:
    ‣ You could have generated the key-holder-loop from one sketch on the xy-plane including the hole and the round end.
    ‣ I like selecting edges in the wireframe view (shortcut: v-3). In wirefame view you can select otherwise hidden edges and there is no problem of selecting a face on error.

The reason I made the key-holder hole it's own feature is for future proofing. It's not as applicable to this drawing but say you have a flange, that has 8 9mm bolts, all the sudden the spec changes to 8mm bolts, if you modeled 1 hole and patterned it you just have to change the diameter on 1 circle rather then 8, then it changes to 12 holes, you simply have to change the pattern number rather then have to move 8 holes on a drawing and add 4. Once you develop a good work flow you tend to stick with it.
      Great hint with the wireframe.

great clear and simple to follow tutorial for a first time FreeCAD user. When i z aligned the magnet cut out to 8.2mm and press ok, all looks ok (13mins) but when i try to create the pocket to 2mm i keep getting an "Wire Not Closed" warning. Not sure what i am doing wrong.

it's ok, i figured it out... my arc and my slot were not connected, i did try and join the lines but ended up re-sketching the slot making sure the points turn yellow to ensure lines are connected.

      Awesome work, you got it!
FreeCAD 1.0 release candidate is available and way more stable then the current version and you get a lot less of these kids if issues. The freeCAD Devs are really brining out the A game on the next release, it really feels like something special.

DUDE!!! You did not add the part where you actually add the magnets to tbe print. That's bad. The tutorial was going good. Tha would be BE.A.U.TI.FULL haha
Also, a tip for you. When you have edges that follows a smooth line.. like after applying the fillet. You don't need to select all the small little edges to chamfer them. A line segment is just enough. The chamfer will follow the edge since it has smooth transitions. So instead of selecting 10 pieces of edges you could have just selected 2.
Another thing for the tutorial. Click the body and add a transparency. I like to use 80%. The we can see through the object. It is Much easy to design and also a lot more easier to follow the tutorial.
Next thing, you are using "CAD" shortcuts. Se the bottom-right of tbe window. The "Touchpad" mode is way better and works pretty well when using mouse too.

Already on it. I had some issue with PETG leaking causing under extrusion on the first layer after the resume. Talking about the fix added another 10 min to the video. So Instead I'm editing it into its own video.
Never thought of doing 80% transparent, I'll give it a shot, frankly it sounds baddass.
As for commends I try to keep the settings as stock as possible because it is a tutorial. There's nothing worse the. Seeing someone use a hotkey, getting frustrated because it doesn't work only to find out that they remapped it. For personal use I have copy installed that has commands/shortcuts remapped to mirror SOLIDWORKS. That's why you sometimes see strange motions, the old money brain goes back into SW mode because that's what I learned CAD on.
