Until I started paying my tithing I have all kinds of financial problems. Now I'm healthy financially from month to month and it has rewarded me handsomely and I know that if I'm in trouble I can go to the church. All those Millions he thinks we're being misappropriated are to take care of the church in hard times.

Let's do second grade math. There are 15 million lds around the world. How many of those are kids, old ppl jobless, students missionaries, handicaps. Now, let's check out how much it takes to build chapels and 200 plus temples? Plus free food for members and not members, ask the Catholic church in South Temple, etc. Numbers don't match my friend.

What are you talking about ?? You sound like Judas or something when he told Mary not to use expensive oil to annoint Jesus for his burial that he could be used for the poor . Our church leaders do as directed to do . Why should they tell you how they chose to invest ?? They did as asked . Paid a fine they never should have been fined for . They will continue to build temples .

I went to the open house of the Mesa Temple rededication. They moved the visitors center into a brand new building which now suddenly also housed Deseret Book and a BYU Creamery ice cream parlor. The ice cream parlor conveniently has direct access to Deseret book. It feels very much like Main Street USA in Disneyland where the retail space is often interconnected to maximize revenue. You have to pay tithing to get into the temple, and they want you to spend money on your way out. It’s disgusting for a “church” to use these kinds of practices.

I am a somewhat active member (lots of interesting personal experiences), and I approve of this video. No one is above the law. If people are going to stick to certain beliefs they must be accountable for them. Wait until church members understand the kabballah and the sacred 22 letters of the hebrew alphabet, that's an eye opener.

I grew up in Idaho not far from the sugar factory. I'm now angry not only that I've paid tithing for nearly 50 years, but that they made money off my favorite sugar while causing my friends and neighbors to sink further into poverty.
When the SEC order came out, I experienced a desire not to pay tithing for the first time in my long life. I was counseled that paying would show my faithfulness, and that it wasn't about the Church but about me. I paid.
I told myself yesterday that if the Church had a reasonable faithful explanation or an apology at conference, I'd continue to pay. I had no idea they had quietly slipped yet another disingenuous and misleading essay into the flock. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and for covering it so effectively.
I've been somewhere on the spectrum of Progressive to PIMO for three years with mainly my concern for family relationships holding me in. The Church continues to disappoint me at nearly every opportunity when I've been looking to them for reasons to stay.
As a survivor of emotional trauma at the hands of an actual malignant narcissist, I value honesty above all else. I cannot stomach the dishonesty of Church leaders towards both members and non-members. I am ill and feel so betrayed.

One technique used by con artists is to make a request for more than they are actually seeking, then retreat to their actual desire, which seems like a good deal to their victim by comparison. It’s interesting that the church initially brings up The United Firm and Law of Consecration, making tithing look like a sweet deal by contrast.

It is very disheartening to discover that our money went into a bank account while my children went without fresh fruits and vegetables to eat and other children literally starved. It is every members duty ensure the tithes of the church are spent for their intended purpose and legally. The church goes out of their way to assure members that proper accounting standards have been followed when in fact they were not and it was the first presidency who directed the deceptive practices. It is a shame when members lack the moral courage to stand up for honesty in their dealings with their fellow men and instead rely on whistleblowers and government agencies to enforce honesty among their own leaders because they lack the courage to stand up for what is right!

I have been so blessed in my life for choosing to live a life of living the saviors way of life. People will continue to find things that are trivial to debunk a church that is led by the savior. He always wins. I am sad that so many of you need to be validated by silly things as to why you aren't going to church any more. There will never be a good excuse for not going. It's easy to give up and stop going, what is hard is trying to do what is right and have former members give you crap about it. It's funny that you can keep that up but you can't challenge yourself to being a better child of God. Go figure

Telling my family and friends that I know longer believe was way harder than living the lifestyle. I’ve been out of the church almost ten years and it is still hard.
If I may ask you one simple question that doesn’t have to do with the finances….how does it truly, truly sit with you to hear the current President of the church say that calling yourself a Mormon is a “victory for Satan?” How do you reconcile God not mentioning this until the new President is announced? It may seem trivial to some but to me this is one of the easiest ways to show untruths. It would hurt my soul to believe that all my life I was making Satan happy by calling myself a Mormon and that he was sitting front and e enter at the theater when just a few short years ago the church had their “I’m a Mormon” campaign feature film.

Led by the savior? You’d better check on that again or ask him in prayer if he has any involvement with this organization. Keep in mind that God is light and intelligence and communicates through light and intelligence not emotions. The church has conditioned the members to rely on feelings and emotions which is damming because emotions are elements of the flesh and we are commanded to not rely on the arm of flesh.

Leaving one’s community, friends and lifelong religion when they find that their leaders have not been honest in their teachings and that they are preaching a gospel contrary to their own god takes far more courage than blindly following a religion to which one is born without questioning the ethics of such an organization.
