My car is dripping wet 250 days of the year with the uk weather. On a serious note, tesco sell something called spray shine. Comes in a can at £2. I swear by the stuff. Gives terrific gloss. But keep in mind the paint work has to be in relatively good condition to start. It’s great for using after a maintenance wash.
This car and your attitude towards it is a real inspiration for me John (Jon?). I've an Exige that gets tracked pretty heavily and I sometimes get down on myself thinking I can't look after it, what's the point it's getting stone chipped to fuck on track etc etc... But you're attitude is just right, do your best, don't fret about perfection but no excuse to not look after it.
yer man. Its like do you have it in amazing condition and like drive it in the summer and garage it and admire it (nothing wrong with that). Or do you unleash it and drive it whenever you can whereever you can as hard as you can and just love it and appreicate it that way. I used to be the first examples but now Im more more the second. I just want to drive me car :)
Nice video Jon. I did a decon yesterday, my paint is pretty good and because I'm brand new to polishing i grabbed a small m201 for my first attempt, great gloss, followed up with Fusso. All the best.
I use the Menzerna 3800 fine polish followed by the (newer formula) Super Resin Polish followed by G3 Supergloss paste wax on the single-stage Mexico Red paintwork on my little 1985 Vauxhall Nova. I do often skip the Menzerna 3800 stage as this paint is very soft. It was resprayed 5 years ago (very professionally) but the shine does still go quite flat after just 3 weeks of polishing and waxing, so really I just need to stay on top of it. The car itself is very responsive and is like a go-kart which is why I've always loved Novas. My mum had a similar one when she was young. But I could never take it out on a trackday, as this car is not only TOO NICE, but it's just going to keep getting in people's way.
Weekend warrior here. I just corrected and polished the Gf's car with Turtle wax one and done, very happy with the results. Thinking about trying this on my car after winter
@Lee Francis Good question, i have used them before and the only draw back for me is the durability. I'm currently using Soft99's Fusso (old formula) to see how that works in the norwegian winter.
All in one polishes for me with a wax topper unless the clear coat is really scratched to hell. My reasoning is that the factory paintwork finish on most cars normally resembles an orange peel, there's only so much clear coat one can cut and scratches and swirls will be put into the clear coat when it's washed no matter how careful one is.
Interesting comment on leaving a line of polish to show where you have worked to, always used to struggle with that. What I have found on larger panels that need breaking down into sections is to use my cross line laser set up on a tripod, marks your working area perfectly and is completely unaffected by what you are doing on the paint. Can be picked up pretty cheap on Amazon.
Interesting re the BSD; the beading is incredible but I always hate the feel of the paint after applying it. It’s never as smooth as other products. I think I’d rather use something less durable but nicer feeling.
Hi Jon, just curious on your thoughts of Sonax Perfect Finish? I've been using it for a while and Im pretty impressed. Easy to work with and finishes out really nicely.
Hi , after watching lots of your content , can you advise me on what products I should use on a light blue car to achieve a really wet looking high gloss finish , I know light cars are harder to achieve this look but these are what I have to choose from so in your opinion what would you use , I have already used menzerna 2500 followed by menzerna super fine finish 3800 , what would you recommend next out of -Koch chemie p301 , scholl s40, followed by a wax of - fusso soft 99 king of gloss or mirror shine. Or fith element from angel wax .Thanks for reading and your help
most modern lights are poly carb with clear coat on them. If you machine them too much you can remove the clear. bades you tend to just mess up with getting polish in the gaps etc..
Thanks, loving the vids by the way. Doing my 1st machine polish on my m140i later in the week. Been following your how to and got lost of the gear ready. Thanks for all your help
Thanks for this video. It's always good to see some crazy BMW F82 S55 M4 CS polishing action. Jon, how would you compare Menzerna 400 with Koch Chemie H9? I use the Menzerna and it has a great cut and finish, but it can also leave a slight film of dust if worked too long. Does the H9 address the dusting issue that my Menzerna has?
H9 is better. But I never had a dusting issue with menz fg400 I just found it was down on cut. I actually still favour h8. But m8 there's very little in it. Menz is super
Hi John, what are the dimensions of the shelves you have from display pro? I just wasn’t sure if you said in one of your videos if they were 120mm in depth?
the biggest mate. and I got 2 custom ones as well. Ive talked about this mate in other videos with the dimensios. but the dimensions are on the display pro site. they will make them any size you want though but yuou pay a bit more for that.
Hi Jon, really learning a lot from your videos. I am restoring an 80''s red Corvette and the paint is terrible, was a flat pink when I got it Sometime in it's past someone painted it in Subaru red ! I have been using Farecla G3 and it has come up better but what is the best protection to use to stop the paint fading again ?
Hello, can u recommend me something for piano black trim in interior? i tryied koch chemie ASC(allround surface cleaner) and 500gsm soft cloth but its still leave smearing. Maybe carpro interior QD will help? Thanks :)
The Koch Chemie stuff is great and you've mentioned other brands like Rupes, Menzerna etc. Have you tried Sonax polishes yet? I think they are awesome get yourself a Cut Polish like Ultimate Cut 6-3 and a finishing polish like Perfect finish and you're set.
It’s a pre wash snow foam. Bilt Hamber touchless is much stronger but conflicting reports if it’s ceramic coating safe. I have reached out to bilt Hamber, who stated that it is ceramic coating safe so you could take a chance, using a low ratio but Geyon foam is defiantly safe for ceramic coatings but not as potent as the bilt Hamber products though.
@@taylorthrall7321 never used that. The only one I know of is Auto Finesse. Don’t know if it’s any good. Maybe look at Geyon wet coat or a ceramic spray sealant?
Jon, Sounds like you’re describing a Porsche 911 - 997 as your ‘next car’ 🤔 It’s a great choice and comes with and excellent chassis, hydraulic steering, plenty of power 300bhp+, light-ish and easy to maintain with plenty of ‘specialists’ to help you out as and when required 👍🏻 It also comes with carbon ceramic brakes as an option 😏 There will be plenty of bargains out there over the next few months as thing become tighter for a lot of people 😣 Enjoying you content as usual 😊
@@ForensicDetailing Not 'daydreaming' at all Jon. Personally I'd be paying very close attention to the 997 market. It's currently got an oversupply of excellent quality enthusiasts cars and what with the current 'squeeze' prices are definitely negotiable 😏 I own a 997.1 C4S and love it. It's a great bridge between modern and classic, with a cabin that is solid & stylish, unlike the 996, which is the biggest letdown for that model 😔 There's some great cars out there - keep 'em peeled! 👀
