Great reactions, Barry. Our wonderful Dimash has his way to show respect to the host country. If they have a folk song, he learns it and add it to his concert. His lovely Mom was there to receive such love from him. He sang it so tenderly and so lovingly. Yes, because it was a song all Ukrainians knew well, when he prompted them, they gladly sang along. That was so wonderful and so heartfelt and touching. Oh, this song always goes straight to my heart. You can feel the love. His Mom was fighting to hold back her tears, but ultimately, she couldn't. Dimash, the superstar and paying homage to his superstar Mom, and to all mothers around the world. Wonderful!! Only love and respect for Dimash 🥰

This performance was at the Arnau Tour concert in Kiev in March 2020. If I remember correctly, the last concert before the pandemic. It was really exciting.
He said in an interview that he always liked this song very much but had never sung. The day before the performance, he asked for permission to sing it, as he wanted to please the Ukrainian audience (he always does this in the countries he visits) and it is also clear to honor his mother who would be in the audience. He only had a few hours to learn the letter and was decorating during the night. And he was happy to have succeeded despite his accent. You can tell he keeps looking at the teleprompter sometimes.
It is a Ukrainian folk song. The lyrics are very beautiful. It speaks of Calendulas, delicate flowers planted by a beloved mother. Symbol of Ukrainian Culture. His mother loves to grow beautiful flowers in their garden. Barry, I can't tell if you have the subtitles turned on so I don't know if you are aware that he is singing about and to her. This is a Ukranian Folk song about a Mother planting Marigolds and her child seeing them years later and knowing she planted them. That is why the Ukranian audience could sing the song when he motioned them to and why his mother was crying with him singing to her.

on the Barry bus again. Thanks Barry! This song has me in a puddle each time. My son is a little older than Dimash with the same beautiful qualities of humanity it makes my heart burst with loy and gratitude so I get Sveta's response when seeing her beautiful boy on that stage capturing the hearts of the audience. Dimash is a true gem, a rarity in our world today. thanks again for this lovely reminder of love - the most important thing in life that Dimash shows us - love for family, extended to our worldwide family of humans warts n all! Dimash dared to go where angels fear to tread and managed to bring together people from all walks of life to become friends (like the passengers on the Barry bus) at least under the banner of his music.. note also, he sings songs that speaks to our souls, meaningful melodies. as another reactor said recently, Dimash doesn't waste time on trivial things! he only sings 'good' songs. i think the good means songs that uplift the soul or that reminds us why we need to be better humans.

And also, Sohyang and Dimash are different styles. Sohyang is a noncommercial Pop and Gospel singer. And Dimash is a commercial Popera singer. Anyway both of them are the best vocalists with Park Ki Young, Beyonce, Nightwish, BTS, Lara, Dreamcatcher, Park Hyo Shin, Morisette...in the world.
