What if they like it? // Montreal might eat its young // The **best** violin solo of modern times (don't want to diss Mozart et al). I could write another paragraph about the similarities with Grimes' Oblivion video and (duh) The Handmaid's Tale.
Love this song. First heard it in our rental car in New Zealand in Jan. 2009. The previous renters had left a CD mix in the stereo and this was track 1! We listened to the CD many times over, some pretty good stuff on there. We suspected the renters were overweight Canadians. I'm Canadian too so I can write that :)
wow ive been waiting for music with such passion and dynamics to whom it may concern: i am very appreciative of this musical blessing - remember to appreciate and love
Has a Good Home and He Poos Clouds came out at important times in my life and seeing him live and meeting him was also memorable, a time tucked away in a small pocket of time that only could have happened once under the right and wrong circumstances and somehow did. I'm grateful for it.
Can't keep thanking myself that i found this a few years ago! Geeez i love this song. Wish someone would introduce me to some more similar music to this one.
obtain a jack (like that for headphones) but has two male ends. Insert one end into the headphone jack on your computer (not speakers) and the other end into the microphone hole on your stereo or mp3 player. Ready the recorder on stereo or mp3 player, press record, start video/music.
First time I heard this song, I saw him sing/play it when he toured with Stuart McLean over 15 years ago, in Kamloops, BC... That was when Owen got his music very well known across Canada... That was over 15 years ago when I saw him live... that music is beautiful.
@sillyredeyedmutt All of his albums are being re-released as Owen Pallett. He had to drop Final Fantasy completely due to copyright issues with the video game company.
I asked him on twitter recently and he said that they're down because he's remastering them and they will be out again soon! I don't know how soon but they'll be there and be better than ever and I'm so excited :D
for anyone who doesn't know the title is a pun on the song 'this is the dream of evan and chan' by Dntel/the Postal service. a song everyone should check out too. final fantasy is extremely good too.
he is very good friends with patrick wolf, has been for a long time. hes played with him quite a bit, so i doubt hes wannabe. they just are very similar, like any two people would be when they play similar music and feed off eachothers creativity
I'm not certain, but i read somewhere else that it's about the couple Win and Regine of the band Arcade Fire and how it's hard to have a relationship where people they don't know, know about it. It's sounds like a good enough explination to me.. But i can't even begin to understand the video.. I don't think it has anything to do with the song
@@Black_Lotus_1983 I enjoy the fact that you replied to a comment I made 12 years ago which has now just reminded me how much I used to love Final Fantasy and I should really give all his stuff a listen to again :)
Some are not strong enough to face the messed up world. I think you are right that "escapeism" is the wrong way to go, but for some - me for example, its the only viable way to live.
Late reply, but the song is on Owen Pallet's "Has a Good Home" cd (2005). Note, that a lot of his music isn't quite like this, you may want to sample it before purchasing.
ive always prefered the video version of this song. My guess is that Owen Pallet added the drums and strings from his other band, the Arcade Fire for the music video.
wow, that seems to be like i don't know, that sort of things iI would do, if I would be brave enough. Things like wear such a cool cape or things like don't listen at what people say... Well done, Mr. Pallett (Btw, I'm so sorry, he's gay -.-)
This is a slightly different version than the one on the album. He screams on the bridge but he doesn't in the other version. Any ideas on that? I prefer this one, personally.
@sillcatola Oh I'm sorry, maybe I've chosen the wrong expression : / I mean like, I would actually plan to marry him if he would want it (I know, I exaggerate :P) But it's totally okay, he's gay. okay I'm complicated :D And I'm not good in explaining. Hope you don't get me wrong again...
after all these years I still wake up to this violin melody in my head every now and then

@@yatima2975 no dissing, BUT..........
Insane how time goes by. As a teenager exploring music this was pivotal. As an adult, Owen Pallett's music is just as important to me
This is still one of my favourite songs & definitely my favourite music video :)
2019 and still listening!
Same.
2020!
2021 and still listening! :)
yep
2022 bruh.
Seeing all these people in the comment section is so nice, it reminds me that I'm not the only one who enjoys this, kind of bittersweet
A Facebook memory from 2013 just reminded me how much I love this song
I miss this song.
we need this song on spotify. barely listen to it as much as i would... love this song so much
It is on Spotify now

Remember what else was on the mix?
I saw this video on TV last night and just LOVED IT!

so much meaning in this video... i can't believe how well done it is
was fascinated when i heard it years ago, marvellous opus ;-) thanks mr pallet and the concert on arte..... beautiful!!!!!!!
This song never fails to make my day a little bit better. Thank you so much for posting!
Yes it is! Owen is friends with them, he's the one who arranges the orchestral stuff for The ARcade Fire, he tours with them too, usually.
wow ive been waiting for music with such passion and dynamics to whom it may concern: i am very appreciative of this musical blessing - remember to appreciate and love
I can not recover my soul from this song; it will forever be there.
My tuning people out song. So Happy!
i imagine he presented this at their wedding, must have been lovely
This has to be the cutest video evar.
There are so many amazing musicians from canada, its unbelievable. I love this country more and more.
thanks for posting it!
We used to have an Axis of Evil and an Axis of Cool - the latter consisting of Canada, Sweden, and varying bits of the UK.
2022 and I just found out about this song last year
mindblowing.. dont know why but addicted to the song 👊🖒
nothing beats this... i hear it a dream starts in my mind
Owen is so good... Great comment!
What I wish I could get away with at work. My headphones and a fabulous red cape. I really feel this music video

I love you, Owen. Thank you so much for your amazing music. You bring a fellow artist so much joy. To be honest, you are the only one I can listen to.
this song always reminds me of the warm and beautiful spring morning local train ride in Japan.
i saw him for free in vienna! one of my favourites!!! great musician!
it's an amazing song!!!! so much feelings in there.
Same here. =]
Perfect song to feel a little better on a less good day.
No idea how or when I came across this absolute get, but I love it

Yep, Owen Pallet AKA Fianl Fantasy writes the string arrangments for Arcade Fire and is a close freind to the band.
This song plays in my head every time I see a girl with big headphones.

Anyone else notice how Has a Good Home and He Poos Clouds have both been taken down from Spotify, Soundcloud, and everywhere else?

Well I think Owen Pallett himself is a pretty reliable source so try not to worry :p
@@clearlenscap9707 bit late but they are under owen pallett now

I am more obsessed with this song than is healthy, I think.
this song i forgot i had this in a playlist
i hear it and start crying immediatly
Haha, me too. Listened to it during a breakup and still recall the feelings from 15 years ago
At the end she is like "get off me old lady", but seriously what right does that lady have to take of her headphones?

@Bernardusaurus Correction. He's a semi official member who's toured with them, supported them and worked on all their albums so far.
Win Butler and Régine Chassagne
perfect *-*
I lovers this, ever so much.

for a sec i thought this had to do something about final fantasy the game
i was like wtf is square doing some kinda new shit?
xD good music

really wish the screams were intact for the album version
@dannynjames Correction. He worked with them. Tours, etc. Not an official member.
i need this version of the song on cd... the album version just doesn't cut it
he's in it!
whoooa fantastic shit ! love this
love it !
he plays with them once in a while, and im pretty sure he wrote most of the string section on a couple of the arcade fire cd's...
Wonderful vid!
I fell in love with him when I saw him perform at Pitchfork. He's incredibly talented.
Every time I see when she takes out the yellow and pink food it reminds me of spongebob and patrick... Anyway, Owen is great.
This album is "Has a good home" Can't say which is best though since this is the only one I have.
ive always prefered the video version of this song.
My guess is that Owen Pallet added the drums and strings from his other band, the Arcade Fire for the music video.
@misanthrope013: The drums are also in the normal sold version but very much quieter.
His voice makes me want to melt. -_-. This song is so yummy. Owen's so amazing.
eventhough I prefer the live-version, the video just rocks.
me likes....
I'd totally eat food like that.
@naseoj :O I didn't know that! Granted, I downloaded the Final Fantasy albums like a year ago, so my info is a little outdated :3
@carlyjaynehoward ...he's in the video, he's the chef-type person with the water.
That girl is really pretty...
where the fuck did this drum beat come from?
feels good when it happens doesnt it
Oh my god did you see that unicorn! :D
of course it does! all of those canadians know each other. haha.
genial!!♫♪♫ღ ♫ღ
lol i do the silly pencil drum thing too.
well, i sorta just wave them around in glee
Hey,
to be honest, they are quite different. I enjoy them both equally much. Go get one, and get the other one later. You will not regret it.

@dannynjames Owen Pallet is a member of Arcade Fire, so probably. :P
@dasjewden plz keep listening to his stuff. its lovely. :P
Owen Pallett is an artist known as Final Fantasy. This isn't from the series of games called Final Fantasy.
This is a slightly different version than the one on the album. He screams on the bridge but he doesn't in the other version. Any ideas on that? I prefer this one, personally.

There are enough videos on youtube with the guy.

I don't mind watching her :P
Besides it's about the music!
Some months ago, people used to wonder if regine was the waitress
same, i was in awe
do you remember that first band that played?
something involving a lark
yaaaaaay. ;d
does a higher resolution version of this exist? i find it hard to relate any more to this than i already do, i'd love to see it more clearly.
I think there's a remastered version of the whole album. I personally found it in Spotify.
Is this the original version? I have a version without the drum beat and 'reversal synths' .... Where can I find this version??
