    Ahh I love coming back to old tutorial videos I used to watch when I first picked up guitar.. I remember trying to learn that chord riff slowly and with all downstrokes cause I sucked at upstrokes.. Today, I just played it properly and at full tempo

    I had to look this up, because I heard the brief "pop-punk guitar" part on the song and it reminds me of a track on the PS1 Game Spyro the Dragon, as a kid.

    At the beginning when it do the very bottom cord sometimes it doesn't make the sound it's supposed to it just rings or sounds dead just wondering what I could be doing wrong because sometimes I'll get lucky and it will sound fine

      Hey, can you tell me which chord it is? If it's one of the barre chords (I think you're talking about the Bb?) then it will be tricky to get if you haven't played barre chords before! Make sure your thumb is behind the barred 1st finger to give it support, and try to use the bony part along the side of your finger for the barre, rather than the soft middle part. Also make sure your other fingers aren't touching any other strings, because this will just deaden them. Hope this makes sense! If you're still having trouble also make sure to check out my video all about barre chords: ua-cam.com/video/7cXrInICqjA/v-deo.html

    How do I strum two strings fast without strumming the other strings on the guitar

    • @virtualguitarteacher8668
      @virtualguitarteacher8668  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Jake, I assume you're asking about the power chord section? I'm actually strumming the lowest 4 strings there, but using the 2 fingers playing the chord to mute the strings around it. So if I'm playing a 5th string power chord, my first finger is just a tad higher and just touching the 6th string as well as playing the 5th string, enough to deaden the sound of the 6th string but not hard enough to actually play a note.
      Then I'm doing the same with my 4th finger (or third finger if you're using that instead). I'm playing the 4th string as normal, but just leaning the finger down so it's just touching the third string enough to deaden it.
      Finger the chord then play the strings one at a time to make sure you're muting the 6th and 3rd strings but still getting sound out of the 5th and 4th strings, then when you strum it all together you won't even notice those muted strings.
      Hope this makes sense!

    What pedal is being used

    • @virtualguitarteacher8668
      @virtualguitarteacher8668  4 роки тому +1

      Hey! For the clean section I just had a compressor on, and just a distortion pedal for the power chords. All of the lead parts were the compressor into an overdrive into the distortion, but if you have a fuzz pedal that would work really well too! I'll have a video out in a couple of days with more detail on the tones, so stay tuned
