all of your video's are the most educational of any video's i have seen, been a bass fisherman most of my life, just started getting into stripper's and you have been most helpful, thank you.
Thanks Jamie!!! I really appreciate that!!
Yo Mikey, I should say that was absolutely the best I ever seen in that amount of time, plus I can see the honestly you had for the program you made , like, thumbs up and subscribe is the least I can do, definitely will watch your programs ,, God bless you and your loved one👍✌️
Thanks brother!!🙏🙏. I really appreciate your support!! That goes a very long way these days 😁🙏🙏👍
Thank you! You are a good man for making videos like this.
Thanks Brian!!
That’s a homerun video Mike! 👍👍 I’ve been fishing around 50 years and learned a lot about gear from this video. If I ever target Stripers, which I hope to soon, I have the information. Thank you very much brother! Best wishes for Big fishes to you! 🎣
I appreciate that brother!!
I'm going for landlocked stripers at Lewis Smith lake here in Alabama! There are some big ones in here. I enjoy ur videos, they motivate me to get out there!
just picked up 2 Revo Toro s 51 on Ebay for 152 bucks. Can't wait to hit some tog/bass this spring. Thanks Mike!
Any beat that price!! 👍👍
Fact: I like and watch every single Mike Smedley episode on the UA-cam. Do you have a podcast? I think it would be a really good show. LYMI
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! I appreciate that!! I might do a podcast someday. 😁😁👍👍
Mike Smedley Do it. Imagine all the video editing you won't have to do. Lol.
@@lakeratatouille I HEARD THAT!!!
Nice informative vid Mike. Thank you for taking the time to make it for us.
Glad you like it!
Thanks Mike. Your previous video put a heavy emphasis on Accurate reels. Having some choices with other brands helps with choices. Not all of us can afford $500+ reels. I'd sure like to hear your thoughts on various Shimano and Penn reels as well as Abu Garcia and other brands for different kinds of striped bass fishing.
I’ve actually been experimenting more with cheaper reels just so I can recommend a more affordable option. As far as conventional reels go; every other brand climbs in price to the point that I now recommend Accurate more than ever. The Accurate Fury is a $300 reel while the Abu Beast baitcasters i use are $400. I go thru a bait caster in around 4 years. They are rattles at that point. The Accurates feel the same after 15 plus hard years. Unfortunately I haven’t found a reel I can recommend that will last as long for the same price or less. I wish I could be more helpful. Sorry brother.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Thanks again, Mike. I suspected as much but needed to hear it from you. Much appreciated.
Mike micker here so sorry for not getting back to u bro flat out working we're doing a house whit 7000 blue bangers slates that ugly stick rod r top of the range how u keeping bro u still getting the big lads lol love u bro have to got work its half 5 over here very early for work but if it was fishing I'd b up all night lol keep them bids coming bro from the Irish
Ha. Love it!!
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks brother
Wow, great video
Thanks brother!
My opinion for best reels for freshwater stripers are Daiwa prorex 400, and for spinning a shimano saragosa 6000
Thanks brother. I’ve always been a Daiwa fan.
Hello Mike, you have amazing Striper knowledge, I have what might be a crazy request, could I use some of your UA-cam content in a seminar?
Absolutely brother!!! Use anything you’d like. Thanks for the kind words!! 👍👍👍
Thank you for all the imformation . Im on yhe west coast i was wondering which Accurate re r l you recomend for river and delta striper. Also a deal out there that may have them .they seem sold out out here thank you tight lines sir
What style fishing are you doing?
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS i go between 25 30 lb mono and 50 lb braid .Fish Sacto delta . I owbe a Fury 500 2 speed thanks
Yea ur a pro bro!
Thanks brother!
Hello Mike I have the salt water saltiest and ugly sticks tha should work good tire Carlos Tello
Way to go…….Fish on….yup it’s the Indian not the arrow
Great video. I have a question on a conventional set up. I asked you a couple weeks ago about a affordable reel and you sent back the Penn squall 2 with line counter. Want for ambrella rigs. What size the 20 or 30 and I want the lightest set up possible for rods. What can I get away with. Do I need super heavy trolling rod or can I get away with a med heavy or heavy. What do you recommend. Most of my fishing will be between lake annna and smith mountain lake. Thanks for your time and love the videos. Keep em coming.
Sorry for the late reply. I always go as light as I can get away with. A softer trolling rod is best for striper fishing because you want the shock absorber. If you’re using mono the 30 will be better. If braid than the 20.
Thanks for putting out so much helpful information. I have an opportunity to pick up some Penn Battle 3 spinning reels for half price. What size do you recommend (3000, 4000, 5000)? I want to try fishing magnum flutter spoons in freshwater (Beaver Lake in Arkansas).
Any freshwater videos coming soon??
So do slow jigging reels have the handle in the left even for right handed people? As opposed to a conventional reel where handle would be on right?
That’s a personal choice. I personally don’t see any advantage to cranking with the right hand and jigging with the left if you are a righty, but that’s what most people do. Not on my boat though, we all jig with the right and crank lefty.
Another great video Mike. Could I use the Tern 300 or 400 star drag for haddock fishing in 150 water?
Absolutely!!!
Hey Mike, what are the specs for the slow pitch rod?
Hi Mike, a quick question about my Simrad evo2, in chart mode, the image is shaking around a lot, any suggestions please, thanks Duffmeister.
how expensive are the spoons?
The big 8” Ben Parker Magnum starts at $19.
Superb vid, MS! Tons of great info; I learned a lot from this one. 🤘
Thanks Tony!! I appreciate it brother!
I got my 3 rods from headfirst. Thank you again. As far as the Accurate Tern reels. What gear ratio do you use? And is the 300 size good to use also for the type of fishing you do? I’m buying them for my 13 and 12 year olds. Thanks again. Really appreciate all the help.
That’s great!! I like low gear for most things. If your sons will be jigging I recommend getting left handed low gear 300’s If they are right handed. They can jig with the right and crank with left. You will probably have to order directly from Accurate for those styles.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS awesome thank you. Really appreciate all the help.
@@ATC235 anytime 😁
Thanks Mike. What test braid do you tend to use?
Usually 50 on conventional and bait casters and 30 on spinning reels.
This Reaction braid is really very good for the money. It’s much cheaper than other brands and feels the same. REACTION BRAIDED LINE amzn.to/2YxuIc7
Wow 50 lb for jigging stripers??? Everyone tells me 10 or 20 so the lure drops faster for jigging
What lb test do you use for striper jigging? Didnt hear that in the video
I use 50lb braid backing with 25ft 30lb Fluoro top shot
Any specific colors and weights you like,As far as vertical jigs?
Silver and gold/silver usually
No link for the rod lol thanks Mike
