I doubt anyone who played Deity in Civ can conquer the world with one-tag Ryukyu. Cause no one ever did. The only person I know who did it is MrFlorryWorry, and he uses exploits
and the only way you win on deity in civ 5 with venice is to use exploits for any type of victory and if you play other civs u use some sort of trick that the AI doesnt know about with trades that make things way better for you.
I liked it but you could tell that game was weird and unfinished aswell although It had espionage and proper orders of battle which was good. Lot's of people say Darkest hour is the best but i never tried that one
EU4 is definitely #1 in terms of controlling history, most of these games don't even let you control history, and games like Civilization aren't actually truly historical as the countries are not placed in the correct time and place, and no historical conflicts are encouraged or enforced.. This list a joke. It should be renamed Top 10 Historical Strategy Games.
SH4D0WXR33CONt1 the only one i love of civ is the naration of the characters, seems awesome. But anyway it doesn't enough to beat the experience of playing eu4. Also nowadays eu4 is more and more likely merging all good of all paradox game (ie. Trait) its awesome
Its just mods. Not the actual game. If you count in mods, EU4 still trashed it, since you can play as the Romans(Imperium Universalis and Extended Timeline), play in the HRE using it's actual maps(Voltaire's Nightmare), and play as Germany and form the European Union(extended timeline). You even have mods that add more flavours to the game, like Conquest Europa, Expansion of Prussia, Rise of Andalusia and many more. Some mods even made full overhaul of the game, like Voltaire's Nightmare and of course, the best mod I have ever played, MEIOU And Taxes.
paradoxians unite!!! we must correct this injustice and force them to remake the list with paradox games taking all the top spots because we all know its the only try way such a list should be made
I guess your talking about the battle planner to which I say don't use it and micro-manage. If you think about it IRL presidents, dictators, prime ministers weren't really concerned with every detail of a battle just each ones over all goal and plan.
PantheraX I dont think you understand, HoI3 is FAR more strategic than HoI4. You go in depth in managing nations as a whole. You dont control the leaders like you do in HoI4, you control the ENTIRE nation, easily HoI3 is the most in depth game in the series and is the most complex as well. HoI4 is the easiest "Grand Strategy" game ive ever played, not saying its fun, just that its strategic value is far less than HoI3.
EU4 should have been waaaaaaay higher! If you really consider the historical part of the game, EU4 is so rich and deep. Playing on a total real world map really gives you the chance to rewrite history by making real historical enemies collide. This game is hard to master at first but that's what make this game so good. There's a infinite number of strategy you could do. Civ5 is a great strategy game, but you don't play on the real world map and leads to historical inaccuracies.
Alexandre Huot: Well, you were kinda right. You can have an earth map on civ 5, but it doesn't use true start locations for the civs. To get the true start locations all you have to do is use the steam workshop.
Also, if you download some of the dlc, you can get real world scenarios that you can play through (the fall of Rome, the American civil war, the conquest of the new world, etc) this creates fairly accurate representations of wars throughout history that you can then change and bend the outcomes of. EU4 is definitely more true to history than Civ 5, but civ isn't completely lacking in historical content.
Just finished up a game with Poland. formed commonwealth then lucky enough to get Hungry in personal union, and take over most of venice. after integrating hungry, Russia and the ottomans decided to declare two separate wars on me. I had france to help but it wasnt enough and now im just getting picked away every time the truce runs out haha. great game though
Just finished a grand italian game, Starting as Florence, getting into a grudge war with the pope, held of france and the HRE in a coalition war, and was working my way around the Mediterranean.
No Empire Earth saga? Come on, you can take your civilization from the Stone Age to the Space Era, not to mention you can literally change the whole history and conquer the world, or the Galaxy if you want. You just can't skip that ones.

Rome was the first total war game I played, and I still hold it as my favourite next to medieval 2, I could probably quote everything your in game commander says, plus it probably is the most "iconic" total war game and paved the way for the rest of the series as it took what they had fin with the past games and refined it into what we experience now.
Thank you for choosing Rome 1 and not the travesty of Rome 2, a game that made me so butt hurt that I no longer affiliate myself with CA or Total War's new projects anymore after 15 years of supporting the franchise.
Rome 1 had problems, I know. The diplomacy was awful, It wasn't historical accurate. But Rome 2's problems were a whole lot worse, at least the battles In Rome 1 actually worked and weren't a boring static slug fest, the campaign In Rome 2 had features removed that many people liked. You can't keep throwing around nostalgia accusations. Rome 2 was a build up to what was hopefully going to be the best Total War game to date and It's now called the worse by a lot of people, for legit reasons. There's no rose tinted glasses here.
I'll probably buy Attila and Warhammer when they go on sale and after all their DLC and whatever deluxe edition goes on sale on Steam, I'd rather play other games In the meantime as I've been playing Total War since Shogun 1. EDIT: Rome 2's battles will never be fixed because they can't, the unit collision will never be on par with Rome 1 and Medieval 2 due the Rome 2 using the same engine they have been using since Empire, the engine was designed for musket warfare, not melee. It always be bad. Rome 2's UI Is extremely boring and looks more like Windows 10 rather than a Roman setting, go look at Shogun 2's, look how authentic that Is. Rome 2's Is terrible.
Eh i would have put it there too. That game has way too many bullshit mechanics. Like winning a fight in that game is nearly impossible. I have 70k men with a 1 star leader against a 51k men with a 2 star leader and i lose. Like where the fuck is the logic there. How the hell can 70k lose to 51k??
What kind of troops he's using, his technology and troop quality, their morale vs yours, land type, the leader's qualities vs yours (maneuver etc etc). That's how you lose, it has happened in history. Bigger forces like Austrians have been cut down by smaller numbered Swiss pikemen when they tried to invade Switzerland.
taavidude ehm its real if your leader is one star and his 2star its like send an hanibal with 1milion soldiers against napoleon with 100k soldiers who will win? And therevare more things that can make you loose like morale if you have crosed river or if you are fighting in mountain...
Well its still annoying and stupid. Total War made more sense and wasnt as bullshit with the battles. If one army had 20k guys and other had 10k guys then the 20k guys won and that made sense.
Looks to me like you don't have a basic understanding of how warfare works. Just because you outnumber doesn't mean you win. History has given us so many examples on this (Alexander the Great comes to mind). I hope you're a troll, because if you're not...
I think this depends per player. I think HOI3 is for sure a more complicated and strategic game, but that has its pros and cons. Its amazing if you are familiar with the game, but for more casual players, or people who don't want their brains hurting too much, a more simplified and streamlined game like HOI4 is better. Personally I prefer HOI4, because of above reasons, I played 50 hours of HOI3 but never really quite got the hang of it.
Jasperr I completely understand. In all aspects HoI3 is far better historically and strategically. But HoI4 is my preference in games, its really nice and easy to play.
I can't believe that EU4 is placed 8th... One of the deepest grand strategy games out there, still very popular and DLC and patches are still coming out. A top 3 spot would be more fitting, nostalgic feelings towards the older games/series shouldn't dictate these lists.
I was looking fora comment about this game ! I'm still playing it ^^ with friends occasionally. I've never seen a. Other game like this one in scale and gameplay...
I was hoping Empire Earth would be at least listed on the honorable mention since it has an Age of Empire feel to it. Heck, you get to play a campaign as Germany through both world wars and change history by winning WWII. The Battle of Somme gave me a headache though.
I really, really hope the next game Paradox makes is Victoria 3. Vicky 2 has some bugs and glitches (especially with the markets), but I still love it the most as an economics major.
I was so happy to see Rise of Nations and Rome: Total War on here. Both of those games are absolutely fantastic! Anybody else remember that game Imperial Glory?
The video even said that the Paradox Grand Strategy games make Civilization look like Clash of Clans...then the announcer turns around and gives the #1 spot to Civilization.
if the all the features of games comes together,it will be wonderful, for example, use the Crusade kingdom and European universe and Victory2 to make control of you faction, then use the series of Total war to give you a opportunity for conducting every single battle, then use the age of empires to build your land and manage your border combat or make a outpost or have a sudden strikes on you enemy . If that happened,I will play it all the day
formulasea 559 HoI 2 is better than both, more complex but waaaay better :) 3 sucks donkey balls in my opinion, 4 is ok but too easy at least for me (at least it has the cool feature of ten's of thousands of mods)
Total War all the way for me still. Oriental Empires has been a breath of fresh air and is a future gem for me, severely addicted. Sort of a mix between total war and civ, my 2 favourite franchises. I read that the project director of Oriental Empires was the project director on medieval 2 total war, the attention to historical detail would back that up.
Ok, so this is a decent list. If you're going to put in an objective based game such as Company of Heroes, why wouldn't you put in Hearts of Iron. That is a truly world conquering and world changing game to the extreme. Also you left out the Close Combat series that puts you in control of up to 15 squad size elements and battle all parts of World War II from both sides of the war. It was still a good video, just think these two games should be included
Nope. Shogun 2 still can't beat Medieval 2, let along Rome in my opinion. The whole generic unit type without any signature troops is really a big let down with me.
My god! Age of Empire II! Use to play that game almost every weekend! Also really love Star Wars Galactic Battleground (It was pretty much the same thing, it even run on the Age of Empire II engine). What a great RTS!
Want to not like total war so much, but I do. Gets the balance between history and strategy just right. Oriental Empires is awesome but kicks my ass most of the time.
I'm going to be honest here and I'm sure I'm going to be crucified for this: I prefer Total War Rome II to Rome Total War, yes it had a very buggy launch but in it's current state it is a much better game than it was at launch, plus I just prefer the options it provides (though I do miss the Family Tree that ended up being reintroduced in Attila).
A somewhat disappointing placing for EUIV. It is in a league of it's own compared to the other games besides maybe CIV 5. Although I was happy to have some of that nostalgia brought back to me by the other placings I still feel like some of them were in the wrong ones. I am biased as hell when it comes to Paradox though and I'm just a random guy on the internet.
To be fair, Romance of the three Kingdoms is not really good on historical. On each scenario, the historical events only true in 5 years mostly, after that is plain AI run amok.
Yoo Alex very true. I wasn't too big on Romance cuz I felt it was more confusing to learn than Ambition. But i would agree that it is AI run amok but so is Civ V. Regardless I'm surprised ultimately that Ambition wasn't on here even in Honorable Mentions
You guys didn't think of Empires: Dawn of the Modern World. It was one of my favorite games growing up, and it's General Patton campaign inspired my love of World War 2.
Civ 5 as your #1?!!! I might agree on one of them, but certainly not 5. Civ 5 was at best a test bed for a lot of half baked concepts. Some worked and some did not. You praise other games from the past, it would seem more likely for Civ 3 or Civ 4 to get the honor. If you like the new directions the Civ series has taken I would have thought that Civ 6 would have been the better choice. Most of Civ 5's concepts have been smoothed out at least. To each their own, I suppose. I do support that you lose a lot of historical accuracy, due to how zany the "historical" leaders act. I like the games that let you re-write history, but I feel the elements need to stay true to themselves. To me it would be like playing a WW2 strategy where Hitler was trying to act like a hero and protect people from the war machines of that era. It just isn't true to the element of the leaders of the war. Changing the fate of the war, that is the sort of thing I think is a lot of fun. I would have put Rome: Total War on top or placed in one of Paradox's Hearts of Iron games. I don't know if it was out when this video was made, but currently, hands down, number 1 should be Stellaris. It is the best 4x space strategy ever made. I don't say that lightly, being a die-hard Master of Orion fan. It is the most accessable Paradox title with a very easy learning curve and a wonderful in depth tutorial robot that will guide you about every element of the game if you want that level of help. It also is nearly a role-playing game for an empire in all the events that can happen from meeting ancient races to having precursor races battle it out and sucking the whole galaxy into the conflict. One late game problem can involve a robot AI uprising too if you take the wrong technologies lol. I highly recommend it.
Ian Cabugsa So? microsoft owns the right, they could probably set up a new studio or somthing like that. I think they got enough money, and furthermroe there's not many rts out on the market right now, especially when startcraft 2 is dying. Just make a new AoE 2 with sick grapics and tons of stuff and no dlc and shit and you got a success in style of halo from microsoft again.
Ian Cabugsa yeah maybe, but i want it brand new, with top notce graphics and more of vein of AoE 3 where every faction had tons or unique units and not just 1 per faction as in AoE2 but still in the medeval era. With sick music, and online options and possiblitiy for new content.
Victoria Empire Under the Sun! it has one of the best economic simulations ever and the importance of education as a means not to fall behind makes it one of the best gov sims ever.
Well straight to the point just as yours was. Civ 4 and 5 have a different approach and both do well in their own areas. One major pitfall of Civ 4 certainly was the square tile map that made some movements more benefitial than others. Also lets not forget Civ 4 Vanilla was just as bad as Civ 5 Vanilla was. The AI was not up to par and major mechanics were introduced in later expansion just as in Civ 5. Without certain mods Civ 4 is also not as good as without them. Most Civ 4 fanatics that still go on declareing Civ 4 is so much better than 5 only played early Civ 5 and never got into the later version with both expansions, several patches and of course the balance mods. What is a problem for Civ 5 and likly in the long run for Civ 6 as well is that it is much harder to write an AI that can fight with the hex map and limited units per tile rather than just adding up units to a SOD. Still I prefer the hex fields and the unit per tile (one or more depending) system. I would argue the hexfield system alone makes Civ 5 much more interesting in multiplayer. I played many play by e mail games in both Civ 4 and 5 and Civ 5 was certainly much more interesting when it came to warfare. Civ 6 now is certainly better than both Civ 4 and 5 were in their vanilla state!
Hewlett Craphard It's not boring to most people obviously; the average player has 1000+ hours. You probably haven't played enough to completely understand all the mechanisms. It is very confusing, I'll give you that.
Hewlett Craphard, obviously there is no way for me to cite that. I'm just saying that just because you personally find it boring doesn't mean it's a bad game.

Paradox are the kings of historical grand strategy.
Except for March of the Eagles.
Shh! We don't talk about him, he's... the weird one.
I like Mount and Blade (Not a grand strategy and almost historical, but it hey it's fun)
Can't wait for Bannerlord. They add siege man siege (Which to be honest the original is kinda boring and there's is only one ladder are you kidding me though it also feel like I'm a spartan)
Hosea Davit M&B is fun. What dlc's do you have?
PantheraX
I have the Viking Conquest reforge though it's quite slow but I like the berserker story. But now I play Gekokujo
Yeah Civilization is really fun until you get nuked by Ghandi.
The irony is strong in this one
Nit Picker Civilization IV is much better than the new one
yeah only thing bad there is the combat system
ive got 1762 Hours in civ 5, *cries.
Getting nuked by Ghandi is: a) Fund and b) Part of the expirience. You are no proper Civ player until it happned to you (and he did so from Civ 1 onwards).
Number 8: EU4: this game makes civ feel like clash of clans
number 1: civ 5
So, Clash of clans > EU4???
saying EU4 makes civ look like clash of clans just proves no one at watchmojo has beaten any civ game above the settler difficulty
I doubt anyone who played Deity in Civ can conquer the world with one-tag Ryukyu. Cause no one ever did. The only person I know who did it is MrFlorryWorry, and he uses exploits

The 2/2/4/1 General ddrjake dude
Watchmojo doesn't actually watch/play, analyze or research anything, they just pick random titles that are popular and throw them in a random order.
This entire list should have been Paradox titles, lets be honest here.
Johan Johansson tru
Johan Johansson paradox games are good but I think it should be a better list of top 10 grand strategy where you control history
It's Johan! Of course you would feel this way.
So true
Samsid haha what do you mean! I'm not biased at all!
Hearts Of Iron IV?
minecraftboy411 exactly what I was thinking.
Just my opinion obviously, but I think it's still kind of raw and needs to mature like EU4 and CkII has.
If that is so, Hearts of Iron 3 should at least make the cut to be in the list
I liked it but you could tell that game was weird and unfinished aswell although It had espionage and proper orders of battle which was good. Lot's of people say Darkest hour is the best but i never tried that one
EU4 nigga
EU4 should have been higher on the list :(
+
defintly
Gerwin Bergsma exactly
They said that it made Civ look like Coc and Civ was highest!
It probaly ranked higher cause Civ is easier to play though EU4 is much, much more entertaining and rewarding
EU4 is definitely #1 in terms of controlling history, most of these games don't even let you control history, and games like Civilization aren't actually truly historical as the countries are not placed in the correct time and place, and no historical conflicts are encouraged or enforced.. Civ 5 is about as close to history as Taco Bell is close to Mexican food.
Its just mods. Not the actual game. Also, I do not see how the tutorial of EU4 is ranked 1 in this list
Wait, the master of RTS EUIV stands on the 8th spot? Can you be more strategic then in EUIV?
i want to say hearts of iron because strategy is more important in those games than eu4
I'm probably biased towards Paradox games but damn you are right. To me, EUIV is much better than CIV5. Like I said though, I'm biased as hell.
its not the master of RTS lol. Its the 3rd best Grand Strategy game after EU3 and Crusader Kings 2
paradoxians unite!!! we must correct this injustice and force them to remake the list with paradox games taking all the top spots because we all know its the only try way such a list should be made
Wombat Games Never forget HOI3. But yeah you are right.
WHERE THE FUCK IS HEARTS OF IRON 4?!?
Just nooooo, Hearts of Iron 3 is a better Historically Accurate game. I enjoy HoI4 better, but HoI3 is far superior.
How? Unless you turn of historical focus it goes pretty much as it did IOTL?
PantheraX IOTL?!
HoI4 isnt as in-depth and strategic as HoI3.
I guess your talking about the battle planner to which I say don't use it and micro-manage. If you think about it IRL presidents, dictators, prime ministers weren't really concerned with every detail of a battle just each ones over all goal and plan.

No hearts of iron IV ? No ? ... Oh ok.
Jones Dekker EXACTLY!!
Jones Dekker ikr
I really was expecting it at the top 3 but heck I think watchmojo didn't do their homework right.
I would think 3 would have made a better candidate, but yeah no mention of HOI is disappointing..
525TheGreyWolf three was a much more complicated game, and it's nearly impossible to play if you don't understand the supply mechanics
age of empires anyone? WOLOLO!!!
AYOOOYOOOOOO AYOOOOYOOOOO WOLOLOOOOOOOOOOOO

IcePhoenix 330 civ v is still not comparable to eu4 hands down, might as well be a tutorial for eu4 players
3:00 "you might want to hotkey the PAUSE button"
It's SPACEBAR by default like in every Paradox game.
Just proves that they never actually played the games.
EU4 should have been higher. It's more detailed
paradox makes the best stratagy games hands down bo argument. and eu4 is my favorite. i have over 2000 hours on it.
Agreed
Hell yeah and vicky 2was good for its time
Became HRE Emperor as France, owned a vassal swarm, and did a WC. Yay
Just finished a grand italian game, Starting as Florence, getting into a grudge war with the pope, held of france and the HRE in a coalition war, and was working my way around the Mediterranean.

empire earth was awesome. it was better than rise of nation for sure.
@@dturpin2638 no
empire earths sound effects where way better then any AOE or current day RTS.
while rome was a great game, why pick it over Shogun 2 or Medieval 2? Esp. the latter offers more content with many refinements on the same engine.
i liked more the game engine of rome or medieval 2 rather than what they did with shogun 2, less bulding in the cities, the siege battle are way simplier (and for me, less fun) the only thing i like more about shogun over medieval 2 are the naval battles and the diplomacy.

yeah medival 2 is the beat
Agreed... Medieval 2 is better...
And more History to be re-written as you got the kingdom expansion pack... :D
shogun was shit, medieval is the best total war game ever made...(i dont like samurai so that is why i prefer other total war games.)
Rome was the first total war game I played, and I still hold it as my favourite next to medieval 2, I could probably quote everything your in game commander says, plus it probably is the most "iconic" total war game and paved the way for the rest of the series as it took what they had fin with the past games and refined it into what we experience now.
My list going into the video:
In no particular order,
Total War series
Ck2
EU4
Hearts of Iron 4
At least that's my top four.
hoi4 ftw, btw what's your favourite nation
adam sandle In what game?
hoi
adam sandle Merica.
lol I'm more of a France guy, attack Spain, defend from Germany seems way more exciting than other prospects
Eu4 and CK2 are the best history game so far. Perfect for a ucronic gameplay. Then Total War saga. Civ saga is funny, but not realistic..
Also all the paradox game like HOI and Victoria are perfect for ucronic history gameplay ..
And then there are the save file converters.
Akke vezze Guarda chi c'è!
I meant that the save file converters make the games even more enjoyable.
Ciao capitalista ahaha
since when did fucking company of heroes let you change history 😂😂😂
mow saga os much better
The Silver Elite I thought I was the only one who noticed 😂
Asd ASD But you don't change history, the game does
Well, you do become the commander of an army in war which happened before your birth HURR DURR!

Martin Eggman well in my opinion Rome 2 has the best campaign hud
The start was awful for Rome 2, but they fixed it by now, it became my favourite in the series, right after Shogun 2...
You could try the new Total War games you know. They're good. Why would you rid yourself of hours and hours of fun just because ONE game was bad?
I wish Empire Earth had at least made the honorable mention section. The sequels were only ok, but the first was amazing
EU IV at #8 smh
I hope you're a troll,because if you're not...
Hearts of Iron better be in here
ANGERY
You still have several of his brothers, so...
It wasn't on their...
*What the fu*
What the fuck WatchMojo? Yall screwed over Paradox Interactive on this. Most of this list should've been a majority of Paradox Interactive games.
Except for March of the Eagles.
Didn't get how that one would be on the list. It's one of the most bland titles Paradox has made. HOI4 or Victoria 2 wouldve been more appropriate
Jasperr You mean HoI3 not HoI4. As HoI4 is far less advanced and the only nation that cant become a world power is Albania in it.
Of course Civ V was gonna be here...
#CivV
Oh my god, so much nostalgia in this video...
No HOI4 or VIC2 but March of the Eagles as an honorable mention?!
For shame, WatchMojo, for shame.
I can't believe that EU4 is placed 8th... One of the deepest grand strategy games out there, still very popular and DLC and patches are still coming out. A top 3 spot would be more fitting, nostalgic feelings towards the older games/series shouldn't dictate these lists.
i feel like Empire Earth should be on here, very underrated game and one that not many know about.
i love EE campaigns. Very underrated game
Same Here EE is my num 1 with rise of nations
It's kind of ironic because EE is actually the best one.
empire earth
dedsec 7 agreed brother
I was looking fora comment about this game !
I'm still playing it ^^ with friends occasionally. I've never seen a. Other game like this one in scale and gameplay...
I got the empire earth gold edition :( I never finished the campaigns lol.
still got the game thanks to the patch
Yeah rigth
Why the fuck are all of these games on the list, but not HEARTS OF IRON 4?
I was hoping Empire Earth would be at least listed on the honorable mention since it has an Age of Empire feel to it. Heck, you get to play a campaign as Germany through both world wars and change history by winning WWII. The Battle of Somme gave me a headache though.
Just every paradox game (except maybe march of the eagles)
quadro beam the paradox dlc's would have been better than some of the games they put on this list
This made me to want to play Age Of Empires again! So much fun memories:)
It's kind of funny that we all quote Caeser as saying Veni Vidi Vici, whilst the way he would have said it was Weni Widi Wiki.
No Victoria 2?
They couldn't do an entire list of Paradox games but atleast a mention of Vic 2 and HOI 3/4 would have been nice.
CrazyKiwi Of course they could have done that. Or atleast have given EU4s rightful place in the top 3.
Yeah, Victoria 2 and Hearts of Iron 3 or 4 should've been there
I really, really hope the next game Paradox makes is Victoria 3. Vicky 2 has some bugs and glitches (especially with the markets), but I still love it the most as an economics major.
Victoria 2 is soo good
*Empire Earth cries in the corner*
I was so happy to see Rise of Nations and Rome: Total War on here. Both of those games are absolutely fantastic!
Anybody else remember that game Imperial Glory?
Total war has better titles tho
I pray this came out before hearts of iron 4
Eu4/CK2 > Civ5.
I think that they're too different to be compared...but i found more funny eu4 too
The video even said that the Paradox Grand Strategy games make Civilization look like Clash of Clans...then the announcer turns around and gives the #1 spot to Civilization.
I know there were already 2 Paradox Games on the list but Hearts of Iron deserved at leas a honourable mention.
I came here just for eu4
if the all the features of games comes together,it will be wonderful, for example, use the Crusade kingdom and European universe and Victory2 to make control of you faction, then use the series of Total war to give you a opportunity for conducting every single battle, then use the age of empires to build your land and manage your border combat or make a outpost or have a sudden strikes on you enemy . If that happened,I will play it all the day
I wish Empire Earth was on here.
i want a strategy game a mix of Europa Universalis and Total war
My Favorite strategies game command and conquer
where is heart's of iron 3-4 ? or rome 2 ?
formulasea 559 HoI 2 is better than both, more complex but waaaay better :) 3 sucks donkey balls in my opinion, 4 is ok but too easy at least for me (at least it has the cool feature of ten's of thousands of mods)
I love TW series. But i stopped buying new releases when they ,,commited'' Warhammer. Profany!!!
Great video! I have enjoyed a lot of these games and agree with the list.
cossacks empire earth hearts of iron man of war assault squad and wargame series
WHERE IS STRONGHOLD CRUSADER ???
Perfect, right what i was looking for
You forgot hoi4 and vic2
We all know that pretty much every Total War game especially Medieval 2 should have been on this list
DONT CARE HOW EARLY YOU ARE
Danny Casserly Thanks for speaking the truth.
Empire Earth is still my favorite. Even now I still play it from time to time.
CK2 should have been higher, and where's Empire Total War :|
In the whole Total war series, nothing can beat the peak Rome Total War made, mate.
Yoo Alex Shogun 2 imo
You just show us what we want to see. Where was Medieval 2 TW????
Want to not like total war so much, but I do. Gets the balance between history and strategy just right. Oriental Empires is awesome but kicks my ass most of the time.
I'm going to be honest here and I'm sure I'm going to be crucified for this:
I prefer Total War Rome II to Rome Total War, yes it had a very buggy launch but in it's current state it is a much better game than it was at launch, plus I just prefer the options it provides (though I do miss the Family Tree that ended up being reintroduced in Attila).
This should be call.. top 10 nostalgia and my personal favorite games where you control history.
This list should be filled with Paradox and Total war games.
So not even going to mention Romance of the three Kingdoms alright i see how it is
bcb555 better yet; Nobunaga's Ambition: Iron Triangle
To be fair, Romance of the three Kingdoms is not really good on historical. On each scenario, the historical events only true in 5 years mostly, after that is plain AI run amok.
Yoo Alex very true. I wasn't too big on Romance cuz I felt it was more confusing to learn than Ambition. But i would agree that it is AI run amok but so is Civ V. Regardless I'm surprised ultimately that Ambition wasn't on here even in Honorable Mentions
To be fail, Paradox titles like CK2 do it as well (those damned Abbasids and Karlings in particular).
Yes.. but conquering China and Japan is most badass thing that you can do
Scourge of War and Gary Grigsby's games beats all of those in a instant.
Crusader Kings II only 6 :'( :'(
You guys didn't think of Empires: Dawn of the Modern World.
I highly recommend it.
devD1967 why would they put stellaris, a fantasy game that takes place in unwritten history on a video about history games
No Cossacks game? That was pretty awesome!
I knew that AOE2 had to be in it
Mr Mojo include European War 4: Napoleon and World Conqueror 3 both developed by Easy Tech. It's fun and very strategic.
ck2 should be #1
Yeah, castrating my sons while I groom my daughters into fine brides... Totally dig it haha
Ye
Making a dynasty more inbread than the Habsburgs. Yuuuup.
I totally agree!
Prepare for the Mongol Invasions!!!
What about the Waterloo Napoleon last battle game
Why can't the make a new age of empires? WOuld be so fun.
Hubert Eichson if they do it should have many pov in ww2 that would be interesting
Hubert Eichson because Ensemble Studios already disbanded years ago.
Hubert Eichson Age of Empires 2 has new expansions on Steam. The latest being The African Kingdoms.
No Empire Earth mentioning?
Kessen was pretty fun. Remember playing it as a kid.
No ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS?????
Defenders of the Crown on NES got the addiction started for me
Disliking for the lack of paradox games.
Medieval 2,rome 1,rise of nations, stronghold crusader, age of empires 3,crusader kings 2 some of mine favorites.
I'm predicting total War attila
DISAPPOINTED!
Lemon Bleach Indeed... 😑
Because its not even a 10'er
Rome Total War is easily the best game in the franchise.
Attila is pretty bad...
I perfectly agreed with your list
no hoi?
I opened this video for hoi4
great video
Civ IV beats Civ V.
DrDress no
Dino Ortega
good point... well argued
DrDress Fuck no dumbass. Civ 5 is awesome cuz u get diplomatic victory, fukin ESPIONAGE, and faith, a bunch of new Great People, and awesome weapons.
Eu4 beats civ 5
Total War Shogun 2 should be on that list.
stronghold crusader??????????????????????????????????????????????
Can't place that here my lord
THANK YOU i've been trying to remember the name of "Rise Of Nations" for years now THANK YOU!
March of Eagles and not hoi4 or vk2? really
This needs to be updated.
No C&C Red Alert?
its rather fictional then historical because america and ussr never battled directly
The Darius Rework or should say it already change history by eliminate hitler in the first place
How did Empire Total War not get onto this list?!
Europa Universalis not first??? haha, shitty top 10
Your idea of a good game is what is shitty. Staring at a fucking map is not my idea of fun. More like boring as FUCK!
Hewlett Craphard It's not boring to most people obviously; the average player has 1000+ hours. You probably haven't played enough to completely understand all the mechanisms. It is very confusing, I'll give you that.
"most people"
Citation please.
Hewlett Craphard, obviously there is no way for me to cite that. I'm just saying that just because you personally find it boring doesn't mean it's a bad game.
Obviously it is a bad game.... for me. I never once claimed to speak for anyone other than myself, unlike you.
can aoe3 sometimes get the spotlight instead of aoe2? both are equally awesome and excellent stratagy games.
