- I’m starting a new partscaster build, and wanted something pretty unique so I went to Carmine Street Guitars and visited my friend Cindy Hulej to have her add a piece of custom wood burned art to my new guitar.

That is class. The original NYC guitar store video kept me sane during lockdown in 2020, so I'm glad to see Rick and Cindy back on the channel!
Where can I see that doc.?
one of the best documentaries i’ve ever seen. SO well done. You can tell how good it was by the overjoyed reaction i had to seeing they are still at it as of this video at least. i just discovered the doc and his popped up.
As a drummer i loved the intro groove. Thanks for throwing us a bone Rhett.
LOVE the whole vibe of Cindy, Rick, and the entire shop. Thanks for this man.
YES, as an amateur guitar player, that intro groove was sick! Is Chad playing?
Hello Rhett!
My name is Oleksiy, I am a musician and art teacher, and I am from Ukraine.
I am your longtime subscriber, your UA-cam channel has always been a great source of inspiration in music practice for me.
For more than a month, a terrible war has been going on in our Ukraine. Millions of people were forced to leave their homes. My family is no exception. My wife and daughter are now in Poland - I miss them very much. According to the law, men from 18 to 60 are not allowed to leave the country during wartime.
Kind people of Europe help Ukrainians, we are very grateful to them.
Currently I am in Lviv - a city in the west of the Ukraine. It's relatively safe here. Praise the Lord, I have friends in Lviv and I manage to be of some support to the people of our Ukraine. With friends, we visit refugee centers with music programs, play live on musical instruments and sing songs, conduct meditation programs to relieve stress. We talk and support the Ukrainians who have left their homes, we distribute food and sweets to them. We are also looking for funding to prepare food for refugees and energy bars for our army.
Thank you very much for your support! After all, even words spoken to help Ukraine can be of great benefit.
I'm beyond stoked to hear Rhett play this new machine he's building... those pickups are wild!
Rick Kelly is a treasure. Lucky to have known him for 20 years. Thanks for doin’ this dude , means a lot.
This video was awesome but needed to be at least another hour in length!! 😂🤣 Amazing shop, definitely need to visit if I ever go to New York! Keep these videos coming Rhett!!
I Love Her! She’s so Great!! Great person. Great Artist. I need to know who her hair stylist is, too. LOL. Fantastic. He’s a great person, too. The two of them. I can’t believe the detail she can master with just one tip. Priceless! Work that uke! ☺️ And, man. What a great shop! I’m a New Yorker, unfortunately not living there anymore. Maybe; Hopefully, someday I will be back home. I have to tour their shop. Just blown away. I could never dream up a place; an experience like that. Thanks so much for this video, Rhett. You are always knocking it out of the park! 🎶🎶🧡🧡💛💛🌻🌈🌅🎶🎶🌷
Rhett you lucky dog... I miss NYC so much. I lived there for 20 years. If I was still there I'd get Cindy to do one of my instruments in a New York minute.
Cindy and Rick are the best. I’ve got one of their Bowery Pine T style guitars with a wood burned pickguard by Cindy. It’s an incredible instrument.
Congratulation!
I've a wooden pick guard on an old Washburn some one painted up nicely. You think I could send it to them ?
And is it terribly expensive ? Thanks
Dude, I'm so happy for you! Cindy does amazing work! I can't wait for the finished build... Please, keep us posted.
Amazingly talented woman. Doing a shot together was the perfect ending.
and she's such a good photographer too !
Cool. I'm glad that she didn't burn the shop down while you were there.
I’m loving the laughter in the the guitar shop! ✌️🤪🎸🎶🎵🎶
What an incredible place with the coolest people!
I dropped by Carmine last time I was in NYC and chatted with them for a little bit. So fun to talk and hang out with them for a few min
Pass by Carmine Street Guitars just about everyday. Thrilled I can now go in. You can't get more NYC than by taking discarded pieces of it and reassembling it into something beautiful.
The second she touched the burner to the desk and smoke came up, I could SMELL it. I haven't used my woodburners in decades, I should definitely start again. Super cool video.
I love her work, someday I will get one
Cindy is awesome! Such a video of Rick and her!
So great to see Cindy and Rick on your Chanel. So much history in the space and each build they do.
Looking forward to the video for the finished guitar. That girl is terrific.
Glad to see MJS mentioned in the video! Just ordered a custom set of pups from them and they're fantastic. 10/10, would recommend!
Love her work and your guitar is going to be quite a special piece when you are finished with it. I hope we get to see a video of the rest of the build. Love your show.
yes! i remember the video of the visit to carmine street guitars pre-pandemic - nice to go back there (virtually) and see Cindy and Rick again, thanks!
This was so great Cindy and Rick are such amazing characters, I love getting to peek into their world!
Great choice going with a MJS Custom pickup. They make amazing sounding pickups and are also the nicest people ever! Can't wait to hear what it sounds like.
that was an mjs? I have one of their p-90's lying around for a project
3:03 i remember for the same reason once a blacksmith in order to make a sword went looking for nails from an dismantled old temple
I've been following Cindy's guitar making for a couple years now. Love the designs and results of her work.
Such a cool shop, indeed. Tin ceiling. Love it.
I love it! She's so good at what she does. Now I'll be waiting for the video of the finished guitar, complete with demo and your personal evaluation.
That’s awesome and Cindy seems like an amazing person. Would love to see their guitars
I was back home in NY this week and stopped into Carmine St. Rick had an amazing instrument for sale from his Bowery Pine series. Bought it on the spot. Honored to own one of his amazing pieces and can’t wait till it gets here to CA!
I remember your original video of this shop, I thought their whole building guitars with reclaimed wood was really cool. Would loved to have seen more of their guitars. Cindy has some amazing wood burned art on her site as well.
I knew it was Cindy as soon as I saw the thumbnail. You are really lucky to own a piece from her. Rick's shop is absolutey one of the icons in NYC.
Cindy is awesome! Her work is marvelous
I just watched the Documentary on Carmine St. Guitars. Then this video popped up in my suggestion box. I thought wow, I wonder if he went to Cindy for something.
Pretty cool. Your Tele looks great.
I loved her Traveling Wilberry guitar.
The Carmine Street Guitars movie was an excellent review of this landmark shop.
The fact she mention's Darwin and Yomico makes me smile and feel proud of those two fellow Venezuelans, making a stride in the tattoo world, I'm lucky to have a Yomico tattoo because right now paying an appointment with him or Darwin is way out of my budget
so much talent by Cindy! and what a sweet tele. can't wait to hear that pickup!
There's something really special about getting something hand crafted like that, it just seems to be getting rarer. What a great little place.
Visited their shop in 2018 jaw dropping stuff.
Cindy Rocks , love her work , Carmine St. Guitars is the best
As a Spaniard living in the UK... This "burned" burnt my eyes, but the guitar is cool, man!
This was such a cool video, what an experience and I can’t wait to hear that pickup!!!
So cool I miss these traveling guitar store shows
Pyrography is the name of the art. I’ve done many pyrography pieces, but haven’t done a guitar just yet.
Wow! Incredible and now added to the bucket list! Cant wait to see the guitar complete.
An Alladin's cave for guitarists! When i lived in NYC I wasn't in to guitars but next time I'm there I'll go there for sure!!!
I have a set of Strat Pup’s, from MJ’s,they were custom to my specs, and they are AWESOME! Smitty the owner is a blast to work with, he takes the time to personally call you and double check that he understands what you are requesting. So happy Cindy and Rick work with them 👍🏽
Those "n-immodium" magnets keep everything nice and firm!
Super cool! Can't wait to see it finished and hear those pickups!
I remember watching a video on Cindy and this shop awhile back. She is incredibly talented. This shop is on my list of must go to places.
Cindy is an amazing artist and love seeing her and Rick work on these fine and unique instruments. Awesome.
I'm so glad to hear they're re-opening! I've been dreaming about getting them to make me one of those pine-bodied Teles for years, this summer when i'm in NYC my first stop, even before the hotel is gonna be Carmine St. :)
Very cool shop, and the work Cindy does is incredible! Can't wait to see the finished guitar!
I have not thought of wood burning in several years but it is something I did as a kid as well, back when I first learned how to solder things. Never would've thought about this application, but it's perfect for having an identifier on your guitar.
Love it! Can't wait to hear the new fuzz acquisition in action! Cheers Rhett!
Cindy's guitars are just badass!
😍 The guitar is cool too.
Cool shop and awesome people.
What a great shop and Cindy's artwork is amazing!
This is awesome thanks and thank Cindy
The Rhett-Fink Tele... sounds iconic !
could you imagine buying a wood burning kit for a 7 year old today. And maybe some lawn darts. man we lived dangerously in the 60's and 70's.
That looks great . She's very talented.
True artist! Wonderful design and masterfully execution ❤🤩👌
Waouh what a great clip ! Watching an artist doing her craft is so great ! Can't wait to see the end result it's gonna be awesome
That is awesome! Just so much personality!!
Been ages since I've seen inside Carmine Street Guitars. Still "WOW!" every time I see what they do. Very cool.
Those might be the coolest people I’ve ever encountered in a UA-cam video
Yay!you guys are opening soon, can’t wait to visit again!! You guys are the coolest!
So neat!!!! Thanks for sharing!
What a great guitar shop/workshop… could have watched more.
That looked like a blast, they are so cool!
That has to be one of the coolest shops I've ever seen, like stepping into another world
So cool. I’m adding one of those to my bucket list.
Awesome Rhett, can't wait to see how it ends up!
those custom pickups really help with ..nailing down some hard riffs
One my favorite videos you have ever done!
Awesome, such a cool shop, hopping to get to NY at the end of the year, I’d love one of those pickups with the nail heads for a project I’ve got going on. Great video, a pleasure to watch 😊
Man! Cool people and cool shop. Thanks for sharing.
There's no Plan B with a wood burner 😆 Great work, Cindy and Rick 👍
Man! Cindy is a crazy good artist. The wood burning looks amazing and it will look so cool when finished I'm thinkin'. VERY cool Lady, in so many ways! Thanks for sharing Rhett.
That is Awesome, very cool, thanks for sharing.
I want to hear those pick-ups! She did a great job *burning* your guitar, and I love her!!
Very cool, she's a real artists. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I'm reminded of my work bench. A house-fire waiting to happen.
That looks so cool!
That's Awesome, loved the design
It turned out great Rhett. I went there around 2009ish. A really cool shop!
DOPE!!! UNDILUTED DOPE!!! I will check them out... I want that pickup!!! Great Video!!! 🐺
Very cool place and people!!
I have been following Cindy for a few years on the IG. I love her work.
That is one cool guitar shop, and some pretty cool people running things. Rick is great, and Cindy is a gem!
Thanks for the vid! Looking forward to seeing that parts Tele get built! 🤘
That's awesome. I want one of them pickups!!
What amazing talent.
Love It! My daughter is a folk tollpainter, she paints my custom guitars. She has done violins, guitars etc.
Reminds me of the Village from my youth. So many great shops and artisans and places unchanged and still gritty like old New York.
New York is dead.
I want that book in her shop that says "Electric Blues guitar" with a picture of Roy Buchanan and holding his Tele!!!!
Wow, man. This is all soooo cool!!!!!
