Aw, the folly of Power Scaling: It doesn’t matter how high of a ceiling you make for the power of your characters. Even if you literally have them kill the gods of the Multiverse. All it takes is one writer. Just one writer that says “Nah. THIS is the new ceiling”. Rinse and repeat until everyone in your universe can punch time.

The reason for this is probably that the writer heard "Nightmare is all-powerful in his realm", and without thinking about context or the opponent, wrote that they can beat characters that destroy the multiverse, just because they happened to be in his realm.
This is what happens when writers dont think before they create or people don't read their story before publishing it

I loved the magic spell casting and duels between Strange and Mordo, them invoking the names and powers of the various extradimensional bearings
"this is a terribly written story" I like this side of Rob when he gets to tear apart bad comics.
The only way Nightmare could even conceivably defeat the Beyonders, is if they can’t comprehend a metaphysical realm, a place that’s not “real”, or physical.
And therefore their powers don’t work, then maybe Nightmare wins, but since THAT theory wasn’t given, this is ridiculous, my opinion of course.
Well, given Franklin Richards only built the new multiverse through a combination of Molecule Man serving as glue for it and the power of the Beyonders to make reality from nothing (a noticeable weakness for Franklin in History of the Marvel Universe), nothing should impair their power at any capacity because they're independent of needing reality to warp.
The Beyonders are so disconnected from what Nightmare does or his realm, that this ought to not be a real thing for him to pull off.

Ok so Nightmare beating TLT is a thing that happened because him putting the universe to sleep tripled his power. Sure. Fine.
But him beating 3 Beyonders, a trio capable of beating TLT, on a normal day? No. That's stupid.
I’m 99% sure that the living tribunal nightmare beat was simply a vision that he made strange see, as I don’t care how much that universe being asleep increased his power it just won’t be enough to put him on the level of the LT.

It also sounds like they want to bring nightmare onto the same scale as dream, I wouldn’t see that working, yeah nightmare is powerful and yeah, he can frag you in his realm, but realistically his realm and himself would at best only be a part of dream. Where dream rule’s unconditional and nightmare would be just a reflection of him in a funhouse mirror

Nightmare's been getting a lot of hype in comics lately, first Living Tribunal and now he's beaten the Beyonders as well. Villian of Doc Strange 2 is definitely Nightmare, if not him being next MCU final boss.

Marvel has been aligning some of it's Cosmic Entities and major Dimensional Lords to parallel DC's Endless and other Cosmic Entities, ever since Neil Gaiman wrote "The Sandman."
They have been steadily been making Nightmare as powerful as Dream. They have been making Death sexier, and depicting less and less as a skeleton. 'Master Order, Lord Chaos, Mistress Love, Lord Hate...I could go on...at least that's what I think. -HERETICPRIME

@@hermitmoth6118 More likely what you said. We don't actually see Nightmare encountering the Beyonders he just brings them up in a conversation randomly. Though he has in the past had rendered Eternity in a state catatonia. How does one put a cosmic entity such as Eternity into a such a state is beyond me since Cosmic Entities lack the range of emotions that mortal beings have such as fear.
This is lowkey written like a 70s comic book and I kinda respect it, at least in dialogue
It's Steve Ditko who is drawing Dr. Strange and Stan Lee who is the writer of Dr. Strange in the sixties.
The Beyonders rightfully was placed as one of the most powerful beings in marvel comics after intense build up over the span of multiple comics and years, announced in the one of the greatest comics written by the great Johnathan Hickman where he nails the unbeatable/unstoppable aura and shows their abilities by beating the living tribunal. An entire comic run was devoted to find a way to beat them to stop them ending to multiverse. And here there's just some lazy writer who just uses them just to tip the scale for 1 issue. What a joke of a writer

Plot twist: This entire storyline ends with Nightmare absolutely wreaking havoc on the Marvel Multiverse, but at the end it all turns out to be someone's nightmare, fabricated by the cosmic entity Nightmare. A meta-fictional take would be pretty fun, where the boundary between Nightmare's fabricated stories(This storyline) and the real stories(The actual marvel continuity) fade away, as the author could stress to the readers that they are both stories anyway, and at the end of the day, all stories are fabricated.

They started making Nightmare too powerful back in 2019 with Loki: The God who fell to Earth. Daniel Kibblesmith had Nightmare undo a woman's marriage for the Hell of it. Not just a nightmare scenario, he literally undid her past. If he could do that wouldn't he have just stopped Doctor Strange from being born? Even Dream from Neil Gaiman's Sandman can't undo the past except if a thousand souls dream the same thing at the same time. I love Nightmare but they have definitely made him OP.

In Secret Wars 2, Dr Strange said he could have trapped "The BeyonDER" in some kind of mind trap illusion loop, forever. Not the same as the "BeyonDERZ", but they are related.
So if Dr Strange could do that the "The BeyonDER", in a bar, even though he's not more powerful than "The beyonDER". My guess is that Nightmare, in his own realm, could do something similar to "The BeyonDERZ".
Heck, even Gerrideur King of the Trolls has Orikal, most powerful of all who live, trapped in a mystic flame.
