I've been saying this for several years. LIVERPOOL - SHOULD - HAVE - MOVED - AND - BUILT - A - NEW -STADIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And look what's happening now. Man Utd and Jim Ratcliffe have come to the conclusion that a new £2Bn 100 000 seat stadium is the better option. 'A Wembley of the north'. And Liverpool are now stuck in a 61 000 seat stadium, hemmed in from all sides by houses, a road, and a park. Now we're not going to be able to compete financially for top players, with Man Utd. Also, players will see Man Utd as the better option financially, but also because of the brand-new stadium with such a large capacity. People wanted to stay at Anfield for sentimentality, and for the heritage, but neither sentimentality or heritage buy world-class players, and they don't guarantee success. ffs.
Worth remembering after the first expansion, John Henry mentioned that the Anfield Road expansion probably won't be financially feasible, but we now have a new Annie Road. They clearly don't like to comit otherwise we start asking "when when". But I'd be surprised if behind the scene the feasibilities for the next stage weren't being explored, including the transport issue.
No plans to expand Anfield DOESN’T MEAN there WON’T be plans to expand Anfield in the future. When the plans are ready they will be submitted formally to the authorities, not on TIA.
Why do people not listen! 60000 is the max they can build without a train line being built, it was part of the planning agreement. It's been said years ago. That's it for anfield expansion, there will be no more. We have done it on the cheap and now have a half bodged stadium. Should of built a new ground in Stanley Park and done it properly.
Shame about the expansion talk as we’d fill 70k plus. Let’s see what happens but most of us will probably be old or dead before they have some further ambition to expand the ground. Maybe sometimes you have to make stuff happen.
They want 5 BILLION in profit on a fraction of 330m outlaid. That covers all the matchday income (inc corp) for the next TWENTY SEVEN years. And still they said they "couldn't afford" a 60m Anf Rd expansion. Now it's no plans to accomodate SOME of the 56k fans that were on the ST waiting list. They are con men pure and simple. A despicable gang of creeps.
What do you expect them to do? They cant do the SKD stand until all of the people in the 2 streets behind it agree to sell up and leave, there is no infrastructure for trains to support the amount of people that go to Anfield now let alone if they added another 8-10K seats in the Sir Kenny stand. The club probably is worth 5 billion now, when FSG bought it the club were down, now they got a elite academy and training facilities and upgraded Anfield Stadium plus won alot of trophies with Klopp there, that just means there were smart in buying the right club at the right time.
