I think this IEM is market breaking for Bass heads. The bass quality is fantastic imo. With that being said, I put a 33 Ω FiiO impedance adapter on my pair 😈
Great review! Been enjoying them now for a few months, absolutely love them. I do take them to bed watching a couple episodes of landman before sleeping, absolutely fantastic!
Had to wait 6 months for mine but this set pairs so well with '60s & '70s reggae, that I don't mind. HBB pulled off a really unique (in a good way) sound signature. I was waiting for you to review the Deuce and I'm glad you like to have some fun too! Also FATfreq makes the same cable with interchangeable 2.5, 3.5 & 4.4mm terminations.
I didn't see that 4 stars coming from you😊. I was contemplating on buying the Maestro Mini when this came out. Glad I waited because I like the Deuce ( and saved money). So now I know how much bass is just enough. And as for the adapter it stays in the case...LOL.
Mark, I have it and it is fun. When I go for my 3-5 mile walk / exercise / this is the one I take. What I am intrigued about now is the HBB Punch and how does it compare. An interesting video might be the best “portfolio” of IEMs for those of us who never intend to live with just one.
I like it a lot. The thing about the scarlet mini is it’s a high volume set - you have to crank the volume to get the treble to sit right in the mix. The deuce works better at mid volumes.
I personally love their black and grey accents under the resin along with their semi custom mold, its a really good fit. I was pretty skeptical in the beginning, I had already blind ordered and this being the only IEM I have ever most spent on, I was hoping that I don't go wrong with HBB's collab and recommendation. In all fairness, I saw a few videos out there where people just judged Deuce to be shit piece of IEM basis off Squiglink charts but I am so happy, that this IEM just absolutely broke the market not in terms of price for the bass heads but also sort of it delivery. Seriously sick Collab by HBB and Fatfreq have really delivered that Subass that I craved for when I first tried their Maestro mini and Scarlett mini. Its quiet similar but with smoother treble 👌
This set really gives me the sense of the old Moondrop Variations, with a ton of extra sub-bass. Also nice to see you had fun with it. It is good, not great, but the only cheaper set that I like more right now, is the Aful Explorer, but those tunings aren't even close, so good compliments for bass-heads.
Really enjoy the Deuce. I do not have the cajones to remove the cable though after all the horror stories of the housing being pulled out so my cable remains married to the IEMs.
@SuperReview haha... Currently I do this with the Dunu Falcon Ultra. There is an interesting helmet dance I have to do. Or I can do some epic fiddling and faffing to get them in after I put the helmet on. Someone needs to solve this problem for all of us that love good quality tunes with our turns.
I think I've seen people swap the speakers on those Sena helmet comms (or similar) with Koss Porta Pro drivers. Dunno if it sounds good in a helmet tho...
A very versatile set because of the way they tuned the midbass. Metal can become a bloated mess but the deuce work great with it. Dubstep and all that obviously makes a lot of fun. I like how laid back the set is, not too much energy but its also not boring . Enough to balance the bass. Its pricey but the uniqueness and great sound makes up for it.
Also bassy with 15-50 ohm impedance adapter: Aoshida E20 and ivipQ Conch V12 (the 2DD+6BA). E20 definitely a budget gem, quite power hungry with the added impedance though
7:00 Gotta say, that flush-sitting look has something to it. Would probably be a pretty good sidesleeper IEM. If falling asleep to deep sub bass rumble is how you're feeling.
I feel the impedance adapter kind of muddies the mid range, but really, really, REALLY enjoy the bass feel and snappiness. Buy only from Linsoul, not from FatFreq as they have a long (since release) history of taking forever (3+ months). I got mine in 3 days. Best money I have ever spent outside my Geshelli stack.
Cleaning nylon cables: Color-safe OxiClean, keep connectors out - far out enough they don't get saturated. Ten minute soak, rinse, dry, cleans most of the cable. Can spot clean remaining areas. Also really good for Apple Watch sport loops. YMMV.
Should I get EM6L, Supermix 4, Moondrop B3, or Kiwi Orchestra Lite for gaming / music listening? I mostly play competitive games like valorant but I want a wide fit of game genres as well.
Hi Mark, looking forward to watching this review! :) Two questions: -is the fit similar to Maestro Mini (didn’t fit me)? -have you ever tried CIEMs and if so, what do you think about them? Sorry if you answered question 1 in the vid already, I’ll watch later.
I recall the Maestro Mini did not fit me very well, it seemed pretty oddly shaped when I tried it at CanJam almost two years ago. No such problems with this one, but I don't have them both to compare. Never tried CIEMs, seems like a lot of hassle to get one that fits perfect and will probably sound different than expected. I'm happy with universals.
@ thank you for answering both my questions. Knowing MM didn’t fit you well too but these do, I will put these on my shortlist. Regarding CIEMs: I fully understand. Just got my first one in and love the fit, better than any UIEM except for maybe the Sennheiser IE series, but sound could be better for the price. I think that’s the fault of the IEM itself though (Hisenior Okavango) and not the fact it is a CIEM. The hassle was real with this for sure, but in the end it was worth it to me having wanted to try CIEMs for years. :)
@ it would be worth a shot if you find a cheap one although most are more this "oldschool" IEM tuning with way too much mud - maybe something more recent like the Mega5EST CIEM or so?

That's all you need if you have a pc with the appropriate input/output. Then install room EQ wizard. My pc does some weird processing on the mic input so I had to get a cheap usb dongle to use as a sound card.
Be careful, the terminal inlet will break if the two pins bend, and they will bend because the two pins are easily bendable. This happened to me while my Deuce was in my jacket pocket. I took it out later that day and was surprised it was folded and now has cosmetic damage. I had thought this IEM was good for everyday carry because the two-pin connection seemed very snug, which I believed would reduce the risk of losing the IEMs. Make sure to put em on a case if youre planning to use it out during the day
Exact thing just happened to me, the 2 pin bent making my left side not work, and when I tried to change cables my right side snapped, at least it was cosmetic. Also the sheath of the cable was already breaking after less than 2 months of usage, the sound is amazing but the build isn't very good
@@nekrozclockworkI recommend ivipq cables, they have soo many to choose from. Very, very nice build quality. And it’s best to buy them when aliexpress has those discount periods. I have a few that were discounted from 100+$ down to 60-55$

mark would you please add some graphs of other iems using an impedance adapter? mega5est and others? if you get the time of course it would be appreciated
For it to do anything the IEM needs to have a variable impedance curve. Most DDs do not and it does nothing. With DD+BA hybrids, it usually boosts the bass although some it doesn't, it depends on the design. Mega5EST it does, it's quite a broad boost starting very high up, 700Hz or so and with 20Ω it's +6dB in the sub-bass (below 100Hz or so)- that's over the existing bass boost, not over flat. It also attenuates the treble starting 3kHz or so but much less, it's only down -1dB.even 6kHz+. I don't think it's possible to post links but if you add /a/SxpeKCh to Imgur, you'll find measurements, I just did very rough ones and uploaded.
It’s an awesome iem, love the aesthetic and the cable. Powerful bass and overall is still clean. Sadly the fit is not for me, so I have to let it go after having it for a couple of weeks.

The best way I would describe the Deuce is that it's a great 4th or 5th IEM; the one you reach for when you're getting a little bit tired of your main rotation and just want to have fun with your music every once in a while. This thing can never be my daily driver because that bass will be annoying to listen to after some time. I wholeheartedly recommend this over either of the Mini models i.e. the Maestro Mini and the Scarlet Mini because of its (IMO) superior tuning and timbre. Maestro Mini IMO has a very uneven upper mid and treble region, while the Scarlet Mini is simply a muddy, muffled mess.

Other than that, I love your content especially since you and I share a very similar sound signature preference.
Everyone talking about it being fun. It’s low fidelity fun at best. The mids and highs have zero technical capabilities. They sound very low resolution. Fatfreq don’t deserve your money for this shamble of a release.
@ You are a reviewer, so I’m sure your copy arrived with zero hiccups. If you had experienced half of what I went through to finally get my pre-order, only for it to arrive with a left bud that was DOA, you’d understand the reason for my disdain for Fatfreq. I still managed to get some sound out of it by manipulating the depth of the cable insertion for a few songs, can’t get any sound now. SO, after months of back and forth with Fatfreq, they want me to pay return shipping and wait AGAIN (for another several months one can only assume) to SEE if they can rectify the issue. The release was a horror show for anyone that didn’t take special priority. They are the only company where I have felt legitimately ripped off. Like my money was being held hostage. Can’t disregard them enough now

Everyone talking about it being fun. It’s low fidelity fun at best. The mids and highs have zero technical capabilities. They sound very low resolution. Fatfreq don’t deserve your money for this shamble of a release.
But what if people who aren't you like it?
Can’t disregard them enough now
Would you be willing to share your email correspondence with Fatfreq? Might be worth a follow-up video.
Yeah, I really miss base slam with this set. And the company is a sack of yucky stuff.
Since when the unique iems start getting 4 stars on this channel? Hbb or any other collab should not affect your objectiveness and consistency. Should press dislike this time.
You good bro?
Absolutely. Are you good bro?
