You cant really explain the story, because the author still hasn't explained anything regarding the Abyss itself. Hell he hasn't even explained the Interference Units or reg for that matter, at least not yet. And he's stretching it out as much as he can to milk it, he's been on layer 6 for like four years.
yep, that's the only downside of the show/manga, it takes a lot of time to get the good stuff, when it comes it's great but sometimes it takes a really long time to see a new chapter.

The show is about meaninglessness and how we give meaning to things through what we sacrifice for them. These mysteries are at the core of Riko and Reg's motivations, sure the author could give us the answer right away but once he does that the whole show falls apart. We need to feel the meaninglessness, we need to feel the fierce harshness of this world. We'll get those answers once the show is ready to end and the characters journeys are wrapped up, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of the show.
@@H2SO4pyro You mentioned the show multiple times, but i was talking about the manga my dude. The industry is well known for publishers (in this case Takeshobo) pushing to drag things out for the sake of sales.

My statement stands, as the anime didnt warp the intent behind the story and it's symbolism.
I don't think he's "milking it." If he was, he would have released chapters way more because you'll make more money by making more chapters than spreading it out like this. If you've seen the manga's detailed spreads, you'd understand why it takes so long. Just look at any serialisation that has filler arcs and chapters just to meet deadlines, and that's what milking it looks like. Having one chapter released every 3 to 4 months is the opposite of milking it. The reason why the pace changed is because of a lot of reasons... one of the reasons is because editors and assistants helped change the direction of the story because the story didn't sell very well until we reached the fourth layer where the story decided to spend more time on each place than quickly going past them, it's the very story decision that you're critical of that made the manga start getting noticed in the first place.

Probably because it's not? The Abyss was discovered in the caldera of a remote island. It's a physical place, and it's incredibly hostile to humans.

@@KyngD469 It's not even known if the Abyss truly ends at the 7th Level. It seems like there's some sort of gate or portal down at the 7th Level, but it's fully possible that it continues even deeper.

yeah i was trippin when i watched s1 and then jumped into s2, because it really felt like i missed something.

4:55 I mean, the human that transforms into a white whistle is definitely killed in the process, it's just that some of their consciousness is imprinted on the whistle.
Tbh I don't think they are dead, it will be too happy for made in abyss style to just die, it is show multiple times that the whistle has a mind, a voice, thoughts and a will, so as you said they have their consciousness and that means they are still there, nothing suggest that they died.

This anime to me is in the Mount Rushmore of greatest animes of all time post big 3 era. Great video and good job simplifying the somewhat convoluted stpoy of Made in Abyss.

How come reg went from the 6th(or 7th? as Riko's mom has a sketch of reg?) layer to the 1st layer(Where Reg saved Riko for the first time) as no one can return from the 6th layer?
You can return but not as human, the elevator will still take you up but the problem is the curse and Reg is not affected by it because... well it is not reveal yet but I think is because he is half robot.
Reg is immune to curse. And it's not reg silhouette which lyza draw, it's girl-type (maybe reg's pair)

22:04 given how old pruruska looks and speaks it seems 6 years in the 4th layer might as well be 12 or 13 in the 5th and time gets really whacky beyond the 5th it’s stated a few minutes there is months on surface

If Reg can return from 6th layer trough the elevator, does that mean he has met or seen Bondrewd before? Then again Bondrewd says he never sees something like Reg before, so i guess Reg sneaked out of Ido Front without anyone noticing
There are other ways to reach the 5th layer besides the elevator, Liza was able to send a letter with a balloon and even Riko almost did that so reg could just climb through a hole or something like that
18:40 ehhh love is confusing in this show because technically is order to receive a life reverberating stone aka a white whistle a person must love you unconditionally and riko gets one despite know pursuka for likely less than 3 days it’s more likely one must deeply care for someone as kitty didn’t seem to have romantic feelings towards naniuchi
As to what I understand, Prushka did not became a white whistle because she bonded or loved Riku. Her consciousness continued to move forward because of the extreme desire of having an adventure with Riku to the netherworld. Prushka dint get the chance to see a lot of things since birth. So I guess the urge to follow Riku in her adventures was enough to transform into a white whistle.
@@pattys5934 maybe still that broke/severely bent the established rules to give Riko a White Whistle however I’ve since read the Manga, it’s made clear that anime just executed on her emotions, and intentions poorly season one is comprised of the 26 chapters Prushka is present for around the next 13 chapters the movie cut out some fairly important content that makes Prsuhka’s death acceptable and the movie was still good but for me, at least it’s the worst part of the anime Riko is also Portrayed as being far more frustrated with Bondrewd than in the anime she was actually thinking about Prushka and was crying when she fired on him that does not get shown in the movie
Edit: just had to check the manga and anime real quick Riko is far more disturbed about Bondrewds actions in the manga it’s more like the three of them together in the flashback in the anime It seems like it’s just a conversation between prushka and Bondrewd. But most people don’t like Bondrewd and Prushka if we’re being honest, just doesn’t have enough screen time for the average person to care The manga can be read and interpreted at your own pace so as the audience become they become fairly familiar with Prushka it’s 13 chapters and considering the release schedule she was present for 2 years but for me its a 90 minute experience so I I don’t think the Directors considered that so by in large the manga better portrayed the story here

Here’s a fun theory for everyone reading this.
Liza HAD to go through Ido Front and probably talk to Bondrewd before she descended.
They both knew exactly how Life Reverberating Stones are created, and how they must be refined into Whistles.
Liza is probably aware that her daughter will eventually follow her in a few years, and that means she’ll need her own Whistle.
Bondrewd can’t blow his Whistle even though it’s implied he can rub it to descend via the elevator as per his trip to the 6th Layer in a Season 2 flashback. Either that or someone else activated the elevator for him.
This means that Liza might have asked Bondrewd to help create a Life Reverberating Stone for Riko.
Considering Bondrewd’s line “You have brought about a trial that was necessary to guide Prushka to completion” implies that he had this whole thing planned, why did he plan it in the first place? Why did he choose to raise a child born in the Abyss (interestingly similar to Riko’s birth) with love and care? Because he knew love was required to create a Whistle, as he sacrificed himself for his own stone, meaning he himself is the only one he had who loved him.
Thus, my theory is this. Bondrewd and Liza discussed Riko’s eventually journey to chase her mother, how exactly White Whistles are created, and asks Bondrewd to help make Riko a Life Stone since she already knows Riko will need it deeper down. That’s why Bondrewd decided to raise Prushka. Prushka, born in the Abyss, would share a default type of bond with anyone else born in the Abyss. Bondrewd knew Riko’s story and cared for Prushka so that Prushka would have the capacity to love others. He keeps her isolated so that she’ll instantly want to get to know any newcomers and bond with them quickly. The Umbra Hand in the flower field said Bondrewd was eagerly awaiting their arrival at Ido Front. Because every step was already planned out. Only in his plan, he would’ve probably explained how they’d need to sacrifice Prushka to Riko in some fashion. So who’s the real villain?
It’s Liza, for asking Bondrewd to do horrible shit just to help her daughter come down and find her for whatever reason. And Bondrewd and Liza both know something secret about the Abyss itself, hence why the Prushka-Stone plan is part of “the preparations to step into the next 2000 years are complete” bit. Something happens with the Abyss every 2000 years, possibly with regards to some sort of choice being made by someone whenever a 2000 year period ends.

No but why does abyss remind me so much of little nightmares its like reg and riko r mono and six both trying to navigate through a horrific world of nightmares bigger stronger and hostile rather than escaping they go deeper and deeper trying to find something that will just let them sirvive the nightmares and the mirrors are like the curse of the abyss they bend the children into there nightmares and reg and mono both have unique powers to help them sirvive the world they are roaming
Depends how you look at it but yeah, both of them have tiny characters in a big bad and horrific story, so in an artistic way they are similar

That's not a good explanation, the explorers from Orth live there and their entire life is revolving around the abyss and yet they know pretty much nothing, so the question is how that tribe knows that information and orth doesn't? And is never explained in the show

Well that is not exactly water, is something that looks like water and even so, in season 2 we can see a creature that still moves even after being cooked so I doubt that will work

Beloff traded a lot of his body to Bondwerd to obtain that clone of midi. You left that part out saying Bondwerd left with nothing.
He didn't give Bondrewd his body, Bondrewd really left with nothing, Belaf made that clone using some magic from the village and he paid for the spell or something. Bondrewd didn't have any involvement with the clone.
In the village, you can have anything if you pay equal "value" to it. Belaf gave up his limbs and sensory organs to have a Mitty clone that's not just a mitty clone but copied down to the very soul. That's not something that Bondrewd can do himself.
So those children were really babies they made it look like little rabbits for us (for them, they were real infants).
Well noo...... they were rabbits for everyone, its just that they had a twisted form because of the artifact, trust me made in abyss is not shy when it comes to horror =))))

Well, you can go up, but there is a limit, like a few steps, there is also a thing like gaps in the field and you are able to go up by going through them, that's what Nanachi is able to do thanks to the blessing

It's hard to follow if you haven't consumed to anime/manga, to put it simply there are multiple groups of people (like 3 or so), some of them ascent and some decent so it goes back and forth, this video was in chronological order, it would be easier to follow if you watch/read the story so if you're interested in it I'd suggest to give it a try ;)

Great summary, anime makes more sense. Do they explain why kids? Aside from the pedo allegations of the author that have neither conclusively proven or disproven, is there any reason why kids are the main focus?
Outside the reason you mention, I think because it makes things more dark but also to have a pretty or chibi style, to have the looks of a friendly colorful story but inside to be nightmare fuel, there is a lot to talk about how the show looks and is presented, maybe I will cover this topic in the future in a video about the anime adaptation

The Faputa thing was so boring and obviously stretched, like it was cool for a while but man i do not care that much, i wanna know reg's origin and the abyss bottom
Faputa and reg are at-least 150 years(1900yr old)+ most likely and riko is likely 14/15 at this point in the story and nanauchi is likely 20+ considering they have a understanding of sex not displayed by the other characters like riko I’m saying this charcater to old to be 12💀
Hmm, its a weird concept, because time moves different it doesn't exactly mean he is older, his age is kinda the same as Riko, same as Ganja, they lived 150 years but for the rest of the world was 2000 years, they never lived that much, the abyss is more like a time capsule. So Reg body and mind is around 15 ( I think )

my headcannon is that Nanachi is female, throughout the show Reg is shown to be very fond of Nanachi and Riko even states in a conversation with Prushko that Reg gets... aroused when rubbing Nanachi's fur. I just cant imagine he would be so interested in another boy like that, shown how he acts with Ozen's assistant (I forgot their name) which is probably heavily implied to be a boy
