I find "desktop replacement" a difficult term. For me, a true desktop replacing machine is a device which stays "healthy" for years of use. A machine with parts I can replace when they break and is meant for service. I had a gaming laptop a few years ago, used it for about 2 years as my main pc. But even though I was not gaming on a bed, it was collecting dust like mad (before I get comments, we do clean our house..). I had to open it up and clean out the fans ever 3-4 months, and repasted it twice with significant perfomance gains after that. But, after two years, screws were worn out, plastic thingies broke off even though I was maximum careful. And as I mainly bought the machine for lan parties, I found that gaming for hours on a 17 inch screen is just not optimal. I had my eye (and prepurchased) on an Eblaztr for a while, but this turns out to be a scam. At least, I won't see my money back. That idea was great though.
