Hope Yuri tunes his Abarth with Eurocompulsion! Their tunes are really powerful and well dialed in. It really feels factory tuned. A Phase 2 Abarth can match the speed of a 2 liter hot hatch due to its power and weight ratio and still retains all the nimbleness of such a light car as the Abarth
@@kylesmith7755 Well FCA was majority Italian for what I know. Also, this car was developed in Europe. Today the group merged with the French PSA and got renamed Stellantis.
I rented an abarth for a couple days a couple years ago. Put 303 miles on it in two days. Thing was an absolute BLAST to drive. I honestly think that they’re the FWD Miata. And that exhaust note is by far the best of any 4 cylinder out there.
That's a blow off valve. Here's a key: - Blow off valve is on the intake side. When you're on the gas, the turbo winds up to compress the air, but when you let off the gas, the engine takes in less air but the turbo is still moving, so excess pressure builds with nowhere to go. To release the pressure, the blow off valve vents the excess air pressure to atmosphere. - Diverter valve: Same as the blow off valve but it vents back to the pre-turbo intake instead of venting to atmosphere. Doesn't make that cool "whoosh" noise. - Wastegate is on the EXHAUST side, even though it's activated by intake pressure. This keeps the turbo from spinning up too much. When the intake pressure is at max, it activates the wastegate, which diverts air away from the turbo to stop it from spooling up. Tip: Wastegates, if they vent to atmosphere, make noise when you're ON the gas; whereas blow off valves make noise when you come OFF the gas. With FCA turbos (Fiat, Alfa Romeo, others), an aftermarket blow off valve is the first mod you should make, since the factory ones aren't sensitive and will bleed off too much pressure, yielding massive turbo lag every time you let off the gas to shift. Good for you that the previous owner already did that.
You could get a 500 turbo. Same engine and Trans, just missing a tune to get it to abarth levels. And an exhaust mod. Its a much cheaper buy for basicaly the same car
I have a 500 and the shifter bushings did break, two different garages have crushed my rocker panels, both door handles have broken, I have intermittent rear hatch issues and my arm rest has disintegrated and I absolutely love this car. Fun every time I drive it. The break calipers come red btw.
Congrats on the purchase Yuri! I bought a used 2016 Fiat 500 Abarth Auto for my wife last year, and IMO is still one of the most fun car for the dollar. A year later, my wife still enjoys it. I drive it sometimes, and even it is auto, it is still fun. Just an FYI, check if there are oil leaks at the sparks (AOS o-ring leak), and maybe get the AOS cleaned and PCV filter changed. Easy DIY that takes about 1 hour.

Not sure what the situation is in Ontario, but here in Alberta we have an organization that regulates dealers and mechanics. You should check and see with yours if the dealership ought to have disclosed the cigarette smell. You may be able to get them to pay for the shampoo + ozone treatment. Either way, do the ozone treatment, it would make a good video!
Mods look like just a Ambient Thermal Management Holy-Cowl intake and Turbosmart Wastegate Actuator. The trunk issue is likely due to the rear hatch wiring getting brittle, happens a lot in colder climates and just needs resoldering.

Jakub's car has to be Ford Focus ST 2014. I am 120% positive for that.
As an Abarth owner it's good to see this. I think you should join AbarthChat on Facebook. Lots of helpful people on there. I've been dealing with the same side skirt problem btw. Most owners do, very common. Two sided tape won't work. Go in and replace the clips along with adding some 3m sealant to bond the panel together
I've owned one for the last 7 years and it's one of the most fun cars! The Abarth community is also one of the most friendly communities I've been part of.
I love your vids their so funny especially the Charger Police video where you put the Bad Boys song from the hit TV show Cops. You should do more police car videos because they are so funny. Do a Explorer Police Interceptor next for your review?
I can't believe Fiat isn't being discontinued altogether. My local dealership was forced to buy a couple 500s and a 124. They received a mid trim 124 that was a really good car, but nobody would be caught dead driving a bright red Fiata with Italian flag stripes down the hood. They sold it brand new as a two year old car during the pandemic for $7,700. They got hosed on the deal, but they wanted that space back for cars that actually make money, ie Ram trucks.
@@americansmark If Stellantis shuts down Fiat in the US they have to pay the dealerships restitution for the loss. I heard the amount is something like a million dollars+ per dealership, hence the reason why they haven't officially shut it down
@@TermlessHGW nah not really... here in Italy you see Pandas, 500s and Puntos being used for almost 300k+ miles without major mechanical problems. Interior quality? Generally on the low end... but some have fun designs. In my experience my family used a Panda as a beater (and I truly mean beater) car for almost 10 years and though it is in terrible exterior condition, no mechanical parts have ever needed maintenance. Plus repairs are usually super cheap, but that may differ in North America...
Good fucking riddance. Anything Fiat is huge heaping pile of junk. Anyone who considers buying anything from Fiat is either stupid or they have money they don’t mind setting on fire like these guys
😃Great purchase Yuri! Those Abarths are LIT! One of the FEW good sounding 4 cylinders and they’re *surprisingly* zippy! (Surprisingly roomy too! In the front anyway, I’m 6’3 and I fit in one comfortably no problem!)
It’s so interesting to see how much Yuri has learned since the first review of his element. It’s crazy how quickly he’s becomes extremely educated about vehicles.
Nice choice, oh and btw that is actually the stock exhaust for the Abarth. It does not come with any mufflers from the factory. I didn't know if you guys knew that when you said it was straight piped, unless there is a cat delete.
I used to have a dodge dart with the 1.4t and it was the most miserable experience I've ever had owning a vehicle 🤣 love the abarth, hope it treats you well!
Yooo dart 1.4 gang. Too bad you’re experience was bad with it. I’ve had bad experiences with it for the first 100k. The factory turbo went out twice and had to be replaced. It started doing it again at 130k and so I replaced it with a bigger aftermarket one and haven’t had 1 problem with it. You definitely gotta have something weird with you to love the darts.
- The thing on your dash is the Tom-Tom GPS holder (came with the car in a box, lol). - The side skirt separation was a very common issue every single time I would lift my Abarth. - Brake calipers came red. - The paint above the windshield should be black but it was extremely notorious for chipping. They used to paint them under warranty (USA) but may have opted for a vinyl wrap on yours. I owned an Abarth for 5 years and almost everything that could go wrong with the car went wrong, but it was still one of my favorite cars.
I just had an Abarth as a rental in Denver with an upgraded turbo, downpipe, and intake. The torque steer is hilarious. All of the little pops and bangs were great, but drew so much attention. The steering feel is a bit meh, but it is super easy to rev match and when you do it just ignites unburnt fuel immediately and heads turn instantly. I can't find one in my area that meets my criteria and so I looked for a Fiesta ST simply for the 6th gear but people want too much money for them. Now that you guys put this video out they will go up in value unfortunately making them unattainable for some people.
@@tiagomnlmnl Unlikely, Evo Xs are expensive and in the video the roofline of Jakub's car is quite slopy towards the end. Evos have a boxy cabin and are quite sedan like.
This is an excellent choice for the budget. There's only two cars better than this for the money. I've got both of them in the driveway. Ford Fiesta ST and Mini Cooper S. If Jakub could find an ST for $10k, he's already won the competition. Impatiently waiting to see if that's the case. Great videos, guys!
It's pretty cool, but i think it was kind of expensive for the damages and the rust, especially the hood and trunk...and the guys doing a "Safety" and not seeing a leaking Caliper is crazy...
I rented one on Turo last year, same year, about 80k km, drove about 5 kilometers, and the gear stayed stuck in 3rd... the shifter was just wobbling everywhere. Couldn't even put it in reverse... A common flaw on these Fiats. Still, it's a fun little car, and it's sounds amazing!
Nice to know Jakob is driving a Ford Focus ST. It may be blurred. But only one car has that seat design. Also it is one of the best hot hatch backs. Well done Jakob
I really wanted an Abarth 500 as a fun daily driver a few years ago. But I couldn't get over all the issues they had. I remember reading somewhere that the ratio of issues was 5 per car (not 1 in 5 cars but 5 per car!). Can't wait to see how this pans out! :D
Dang I hope the add progress bar becomes more standard on youtube, I watched the entire add read because it's you guys but I really appreciate the thought :)

i used to own one of these things. just to let you know:
- most early models (with your dash) had rust at the corners of the licence plate lights cause it was molded pointy at the corners
- the rear trunk/licence lights/wipers are working sometimes because the wiring harness from trunk to hatch literally chews itself apart when opening and closing because they cheaped out on the amount of slack (hard to resolder mine)
- the "phone holder" is actually a specific tomtom gps mount for one that you can order with the car
- the arm rest was an option, and they always break
- the wrap on the roof area covers the typical flaking of whatever they used from factory that always flakes off
- the sloppy/vague shifter is a symptom of failing shifter cable (a new one will only feel slightly better but at least you will be able ot get it into gear)
- the stock abarth exhaust is basically a straight pipe already by borla, dunno why the previous owner spent money doing that
that all being said, it was a fun and quirky car when i had it, drove mine 120k km before i sold it.

Either way, do the ozone treatment, it would make a good video!
It’s already gone. Might have been like one dude smoking one cig in it.
Even better. Congrats on the new car! Can’t wait to see how it stacks against Jakub’s ... Ford Fiesta ST (...?)
Nah buddy it’s more than likely the Fiesta ST
As an Abarth owner it's good to see this. I think you should join AbarthChat on Facebook. Lots of helpful people on there. I've been dealing with the same side skirt problem btw. Most owners do, very common. Two sided tape won't work. Go in and replace the clips along with adding some 3m sealant to bond the panel together
Love how Jacob even covered his seat 😂😂😂
Because it has stitching that says "ST" underneath
I've owned one for the last 7 years and it's one of the most fun cars! The Abarth community is also one of the most friendly communities I've been part of.
They came with red calipers from the factory btw 😎
So happy Yuri bought this. I bought mine in November and I've loved every second of it
If it's leaking oil, it's still got oil. 😊
lmao
My 15 Abarth came with the side skits coming off brand new. But it’s always a blast to drive
I love your vids their so funny especially the Charger Police video where you put the Bad Boys song from the hit TV show Cops. You should do more police car videos because they are so funny. Do a Explorer Police Interceptor next for your review?
You guys have great personalities and I love these friendly competition videos. Keep it up!
It’s a shame the fiat 500 abarth is being discontinued in the U.S.
I heard the amount is something like a million dollars+ per dealership, hence the reason why they haven't officially shut it down
Fiat has terrible reliability issues
Yuri: "There's my cat!"
Non car people: WtF tHeRe'S nO cAt!!!
I’m so glad y’all got an abarth. I have been in love with these since they came to the states
I've had an abarth for 4 years now and it's an absolute blast! You gotta go catless yuri you won't regret it trust me
Kk fine lol
Now I am wondering how many of us Giuliano’s drive an Abarth lol 😂
It’s so interesting to see how much Yuri has learned since the first review of his element. It’s crazy how quickly he’s becomes extremely educated about vehicles.
Definitely jealous of the Abarth!!
Was it new or used when you bought it? And what kind of issues?
Not a bad looking car though.
Oh is that the same motor? My friend has one, yeah they do sound nice
Yuri looks like Nolan in the thumbnail haha, I almost thought it was a Donut Media video
I did make my eyes larger just like they do
I just had an Abarth as a rental in Denver with an upgraded turbo, downpipe, and intake.
The 500 Abarth exhaust sounds awesome. What is it about Italian cars having the best exhaust?
No clue but I love it
Best sounding stock 4cyl turbo? I think so.
I trust in Italians making great engines (thus exhausts) and car designs. When it comes to electrical stuff, major yikes
@@ufokkenwotm8 As a former owner of a 90s Alfa, I agree. Drivetrain and chassis was magic and reliable, electrics...very fragile.
Congrats on expanding the family Yuri!
My guess for Jakub's car is: Hyundai Veloster Turbo
Or focus st 😎
@@YouChoke1v1s he said he wishes he could've found one under 10k in the comments
My money is on an Evo X
@@tiagomnlmnl Unlikely, Evo Xs are expensive and in the video the roofline of Jakub's car is quite slopy towards the end. Evos have a boxy cabin and are quite sedan like.
This is an excellent choice for the budget. There's only two cars better than this for the money. I've got both of them in the driveway. Ford Fiesta ST and Mini Cooper S. If Jakub could find an ST for $10k, he's already won the competition. Impatiently waiting to see if that's the case. Great videos, guys!
🤔
It looks like Jakub its in an adult japanese movie with the amount of censorship that its around him.
💦💦💦
It's pretty cool, but i think it was kind of expensive for the damages and the rust, especially the hood and trunk...and the guys doing a "Safety" and not seeing a leaking Caliper is crazy...
Nice Fiesta ST you got there
I rented one on Turo last year, same year, about 80k km, drove about 5 kilometers, and the gear stayed stuck in 3rd... the shifter was just wobbling everywhere. Couldn't even put it in reverse... A common flaw on these Fiats. Still, it's a fun little car, and it's sounds amazing!
Guess: Ford Fiesta ST
I wish I could find one for 10k
@@TheStraightPipes 🤔 Focus RS? No, I think you drove one of those before.
Totally a Fiesta ST with the blue stitched Recarros.
@@TheStraightPipes There is one at $8,500. (2:33)
@@swaroopajit good catch!
Nice to know Jakob is driving a Ford Focus ST. It may be blurred. But only one car has that seat design. Also it is one of the best hot hatch backs. Well done Jakob
Me seeing the Thumbnail
"The hell did you buy with some really deep Meister S1 3P?"
I really wanted an Abarth 500 as a fun daily driver a few years ago. But I couldn't get over all the issues they had. I remember reading somewhere that the ratio of issues was 5 per car (not 1 in 5 cars but 5 per car!). Can't wait to see how this pans out! :D
This video just made me happy
Made me feel like I was 17 again
This encourages me to learn any required steps on documents when making a purchase online.
If we were playing the drinking game with "but what do you expect", we'd all be asleep on the floor! 😄
Dang I hope the add progress bar becomes more standard on youtube, I watched the entire add read because it's you guys but I really appreciate the thought :)
