      @@DannyFoster-c8p Plastic is not biodegradable, meaning it does not disintegrate-it simply breaks into tinier and tinier pieces, known as microplastics.
      Marine debris can prevent algae and plankton, the photosynthetic producers in the marine food web, from receiving enough sunlight to create nutrients. When these tiny organisms are threatened, the entire food web is put at risk-first-order consumers that eat the plankton, such as jellies; second-order consumers that eat the jellies, such as turtles; and apex predators such as sharks.

    Not sure why this video covers responsible plastic pellet handling. The real environmental issue is all the finished plastic products that end up as litter everywhere, including the oceans.

    • @syncringe1885
      @syncringe1885 7 місяців тому +6

      Because its usually the consumers that litter them intentially. Which is worse imo but still having less out there would still be better. Also while my math may be incorrect here only a few dozen or so make up each bottle each spill can drop a few hundred thousands of these little things. We don't always see the pellets making most people not think about them. Remember bottles are extruded from pellets. Cleaning up and reducing any plastic in the waterways and other envorments is a step.
