Love it when he said " it depends how you measure success... " am a big fan of yours Mr Blunt! ❤❤❤
I feel that hes too clever for these interviews, not just these 2, everyone. Hes educated and self taught to a very high degree, he doesn't slur or shorten words in songs, hes been I the army, he faces his crap and doesn't run away. Hes not a mess in front of the world... I am sick of the rich and famous telling thier sob stories, hes never done that. ❤
He is a True Gentleman Witty
@@manuelaalves9354 at 27:40 he makes a joke about 'sticking to suppositories' and both interviewers think hes being serious.
I'm kinda shocked to read your comment, because I was going to say something very similar. He IS very intelligent and he must be super-compassionate and patient with people who say or ask stupid things. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this. 👍
The brits have this uncanny ability to laugh at themselves and use humour to defuse situations that maybe others don’t have. James is an expert at this.
He's quite humorous. He and our hosts poked fun at that after the episode!
Dear Mr Blunt don’t let anyone change you , continue to do what God has given you ….
Use the talent that you have been given , his blessings on you . I love your music . Very talented you are … I’ve really enjoyed this interview got to know you better
Thank you for the wonderful comment! Hope you decided to subscribe and tune in weekly as we have more episodes!
I could listen to James all.day.long.
Try 13 years, Back to Bedlam. 😅 👍
Great interview. James Blunt has his feet firmly ground on earth, whilst his music soars the skies.
That’s the appeal of him, he isn’t big headed about his success, which is phenomenal.
He's incredibly kind and humble!
James Blunt, the man who could talk all day but give absolutely nothing away. So clever, that's a gift on its own.
He is comfortable here in this one interview because they let him talk other interviews. They just keep cutting off and cutting him off and don’t let him speak. I really like this one.
You are loved, James, and I'm proud to say that I'm a fan of yours.
Forget about the negative people we just LOVE you and your music!!!!!!
I love James Blunt
Thank you for the comment! Hope you enjoyed this episode and decide to tune in as we drop episodes every single week!!
Couldn't agree more about his definition of success! ❤
Always a pleasure listen to Sir James Blunt coms home
This is one of the best interviews I've seen with James. It feels a lot more like a frank conversation and James feels more comfortable in it than he usually does. :D I hope he'll come to Brazil...
Wow, thank you! Thank you for the comment! Hope you enjoyed this episode and decide to tune in as we drop episodes every single week!!

They didn't get the suppositories joke
I replayed that a couple of times. It didn't land at all did it? 😂

Nope, Not even close 😂 flew over our heads because we thought he was being serious 😂

You are really the coolest and most level headed Rock Star.

Great interview fellows. I never heard James Blunt speak about himself before. I knew he stayed at Carrie Fishers once she was a great talent, sob. I like Blunts singing and heard him do Flowers and while looking him up I came across this interview.
Your an AMAZING artist. Forget those negative people. Your an AMAZING song writer and singer and musician ❤️
Thank you for this interview. James is a very interesting person and a great artist. Enjoyed watching this.

Unrelated to this interview, but you may want to look into William (Billy) Douglas, former journalist, for a possible broadcast on blacks in hockey.

I loved boarding school- but I went at 14. I can’t imagine sending my baby at 7yrs. And as a mom, I wouldn’t want him to leave a minute earlier than necessary!
What did you love about it
I begged to go to boarding school. After 2 years at Grammar School I was more than ready
@@GentsTalkPodcast It was just a fun time- it felt like being in Harry Potter (except, more work)- but I had great friendships, adventures, and it was just fun and full of opportunities. I did sports, theater, traveled, had interesting classes and research opportunities. This was in the 90’s pre-internet in our dorms (we had a computer lab) and no mobile phone (we had one pay phone on a hall w/30 girls), so we just snuck around talking to each other all night. We got up to all kinds of shenanigans but it was like, really innocent fun.
I just love James Blunt❤
I went to boarding school at 11 and absolutely loved it. My (older) sister absolutely hated it!
JAMES THAT WHAT. MAKES U YOU🫠
Bocce pizza in Williamsville NY for best wings/pizza.
I don't know why I don't I like this man..
Then don’t watch this. No one forces you.
The boarding school bit is fascinating to me. He said it left him emotionally stunted, but he signed his kids for it.
He praised the self assurance it gives pupils and the networking potential, which resonates with the most damning criticism moved to men like David Cameron and especially Boris Johnson, among others.
Men who are simply convinced to be born to lead without actual merit or expertise. Always failing upwards, to the detriment of the people and the nation.
Whistling cheerfully after leaving a disaster in their wake, just to come back a few years later to another prestigious post.
I once saw a programme with a class swaps between a poor state school and a prominent public one.
One of the poor pupils got the opportunity to continue as a boarder. He was so starry eyed and happy.
They did a follow up a few years later and he was doing well there.
Except, he had a permanent smirk of superiority on his face and developed a very condescending tone and off-putting demeanor.
Those places really mold people into... Something nasty.
We’ve heard horror stories about boarding schools that’s for sure…
Yes. Great places for people heading up but not so great if you don't want what they want.
@@juliaforsyth8332 But then he went to boarding school, did the military route and then went his own path.
There are always contradictions because after all his father was a Colonel in the military and James went to boarding school at aged 7 and then went into the military as he had a military sponsorship through university. He was deployed to Kosovo as a captain, reconnaissance and led 30,000 NATO troops himself. At one point he was ordered by the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO in Europe at the time General Wesley Clark to take the airport in Pristina which was held by the Russians at that time. He refused and was later backed up by General Sir Mike Jackson, who stated: “I'm not going to have my soldiers be responsible for starting the Third World War.” Instead they surrounded the airport and an agreement was reached after talks between the Russians and NATO instead of attacking them and starting WW3 with the consequent loss of life.
If he did not have the self assurance when given the order to attack the Russians, to disobey rather than simply following it the consequences would have been dire. It is the appreciation that one needs both self assurance and to be judged on one's merits also.Johnson based on his actions is a psychopath as is evident from his music James Blunt is not though he may have been brought up, through boarding school to be less demonstrative and resort to acting like the court jester when he wants to deflect.
Equally the lack of confidence in oneself may lead to compliance to the detriment of all. The song "No Bravery" , "Carry Me Home", is very illuminating and like Boris Johnson, James Blunt also went through the public school system but they are the antithesis of each other. One has a sense of responsibility and duty when it came to people killed and one could not care less but both came from the same system.
Boarding create a lot of turmoil
And a lot of delusional, self aggrandizing, entitled men convinced they are born to lead without actual merit or competence. James described it positively but that's how you get mediocre people in charge to do a lot of damage.
Seems to be the case
Nice conversation 👌 ♥️.
Hope you enjoyed the episode! we're dropping new episodes every Monday!
💌
Thank you!!
🎙🤜🤛🎙👏👏💙💙🎼🎧🎵
Did he say suppositories..? 😄
I think boarding schools are brutally taking away your family's nest and love from the parents that can't be replaced by anyone. Of course you survive it and somehow adapt, but I find it extremely unnecessary cause that is a parents job to teach you independence and self reliance
Would agree that boarding schools are generally an unfriendly environment for many children
Every family’s personal situation is different. Sending your child to boarding school is still a very traditional thing to do in England. Especially for families with a military background like James’ where they end up having to travel everywhere. It’s character building from a young age but also borne out of necessity.
James makes my heart smile and I love having music to cry to. I know that you are doing art and I realize that your music isn’t you, maybe some songs. You have a beautiful soulful voice and I love it and if you stopped writing and singing my world would never be the same. I have sung on Smule with you and it made my heart sing, keep doing more. You’re a great person and I love your lyrical voice even when you talk. 8:52
...no, you're beautiful. 😍
OMG just realised they don’t get his sense of humour 😂😂
haha there was a moment where our hosts missed the joke haha
Sorry, Mr. Blunt, it's not true that one needs nativity to become successful in the music business 🎶🎵 - "imagination is more powerful than logic" (Marisa Peer).
As 95% of what we think, do and say is programmed by the subconscious mind, which is dominated by imagination why rely on the 5% of motivation from the conscious mind ... ?!
He is so far ahead of his interviewers. They are so boring.
They are very serious and I feel that they didn’t get his sense of humour which is very British military, still.
