I agree with your point of hearing a new side of CL. Her low tone in the song pairs well with Christian, especially in the call and response chorus. Dang the comparison to Gorillaz makes sense. The strings and trumpet used in so beautiful really lulls me in whereas No blueberries puts me on edge because of the synth.
Both videos gave me real 80s vibes. So Beautiful kind of like Stranger Things, No Blueberries more Pulp Fiction. The polaroid effects, the muted colors, the leather jackets, the possible supernatural elements in So Beautiful. Gritty and dark, but still idealized in a way. Also, DPR IAN in So Beautiful reminded me so much of Lee Pace, haha. The short documentary on Live's latest album talked about the DPR cinematic universe that's developing, so I'm excited. The stop watch that was in Legacy, Live as the astronaut...I imagine it'll all come together.
I remember when C-Clown disbanded and my heart was broken because I didn’t know what would happen to the members or what they’d go on to do. Well 6+ years of waiting was totally worth it with Christian because he has grown SO MUCH as an artist, as a visionary, as a human being and this is so so different from the mainstream corporate sound of C-Clown. It’s so authentic to himself. I love it.
The fact that Christian writes the treatment, directs music videos and even edits them makes him top tier, in a whole ass other caliber- A DAMN ARTIST, YEA THATS MY MAN 😭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I have to agree. This year it’s my fave collab from CL. The DPR guys are AMAZINGGGG. And PD, there’s more to CL than her mainstream tracks. I suggest you check out her In The Name of Love EP her first self-produced album or her recent collab with underground rapper Kim Ximya Looooose Controlla.

I feel like the vibe of So Beautiful is film noir mixed with Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock stories. And as the mv for No Blueberries began I was thinking of Pulp Fiction but it got so strange in the coolest way. I love how you discussed the styles of these two mvs and songs and their auditory and visual effects and the sort of hallucinatory journey that they are. (I find No Blueberries catchier only bc I get it stuck in my head all the time lol)
There’s so many connecting clues between the videos. The songs are amazing! You need to check our CL-5 Star! Not only is it amazing, it’s a different side of Cl vocally and it has clues to add to Christians storyline!
