I am completely miserable at this game. I want to enjoy it, but man, it is just not coming to me at all. I watch you break out a half dozen tricks in a single jump and I'm turning every shade in the visible color spectrum in envy.
Yeah it takes a fair bit of practice for sure. Fact that you enjoy the game in the first place is an important first step, when talking about doing tricks though, it's kinda like... your left hand should constantly be tapping the dpad (4-6 times a second), and your right hand should be doing any combination of a trick that leads to an uber trick or a grab trick... check out a superpipe and try to practice just doing tricks, that might help! :)
This and Skate 3 are very fun and I am proud they are backwards compatible. I used to play Skate 3 on PS3 and now I got the Xbox 360 version for play on the One. SSX 3, Skate 3, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Destroy All Humans, Tekken Tag 2, Tekken 6, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Injustice 1, Burnout Revenge and Pac-Man Museum are the best for the One. I am excited for the THPS 1 + 2 Remake because you get the best arcade skateboarding game and the best arcade snowboarding game on the same system. Despite me pre-ordering the PS4 version of THPS 1 + 2. Backwards compatibility also helps with genres that doesn't get represented that much on the One like Japanese games. I hope the Series X will make even more backwards compatible games happen and I hope that they will appear on the One as well.
Not quite sure, I'm planning to do certain other guides but I'm not sure if kind of an "advanced basics" guide is in my immediate plans... that would be useful to have around though. I'll think about it. :)
Yeah unfortunately there's no online, the only multiplayer you can play is local multiplayer. Xbox never had online in the first place, so the likelihood that this version would have it was super low, but I had a hope. :P
@@joaomontesinos While there was Xbox Live on the original Xbox, there wasn't any sort of online multiplayer for this game sadly. This game probably came out too soon after Xbox Live became a thing to make use of it.
What does the automated female voice announce? I like the announcement's echo effect , but it's "tricky" to decipher. It sounds like she's saying "Number" or "Uber" to me. That's followed by her saying "One", "Two", or "Three". Is she announcing what Uber level tricks are now eligible to use? When a Super Uber is achieved, she seems to mention both Two and Three. (For example, at 3:02 of the video)
Yeah, you're pretty much right. She says "uber zone" followed by the level/tier of uber you're at. So super uber is "uber zone three-three-three-three". The pronunciation is a little weird so it might sound a little different but that's basically what she's saying. You've also got the same voice whenever you pick up a trick boost or a speed boost, with the same effect on that too.
Okay, do you need three hands to play this game? Left stick to control the board and then d-pad to turn the board in mid-air while the right stick sits there doing nothing is so weird. I feel like Trunks from DBZ pulling a Burning Attack just to turn on my board. No ingame trick list is a bold choice too. (at least in the mountain mode) Session was a breeze to understand compared to this. I'll try harder but I'm a dad now, I don't have hours just to learn what's instant in other games.
Not gonna lie, the Xbox One might be my most favourite console I've ever played. Sure, it's exclusive games couldn't compete with the ps4 and switch and the always online bs the console had at launch ruined its early sales. But it's backwards compatibility list, gamepass and the fact they are still gonna release Halo Infinite on it makes it a worthwhile purchase in my eyes And thanks to that list, i was able to experience this absolute beauty of a game, also this tutorial is very good! Wished i watched it earlier tho... P.S Is it a good idea to play on pro control settings? I've gotten used to it so i might not switch back.
I just played ssx 3 on xbone for the first time and the controls are just atrocious. I wish there was a way to manually change each button but im getting used to it! I have only been playing it on Gamecube all these years.

Hey, Not sure if you’re asking how to play split screen on Xbox or Xbox one but, if you’re referring to Xbox one all you need to do is turn on player 1 & player 2 controller and select multiplayer and select characters for each and map selection. Cheers
Is there anyway to mimic the PS2 controls? Grabbing with the shoulder buttons is about 12 years deep in my muscle memory and I still have trouble with face button grabbing. Also it's super annoying pre-boosting with x before I hit the ground only to remember that it's a grab, and then watch Zoe face plant into the snow at terminal velocities
Sadly, I don't think there is. But, for the face button grabs, you might be able to remap the buttons. I think Xbox released something that lets you remap the buttons to your preference, so that might be something to look into. (support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/customize-standard-controller-with-accessories-app) This still won't fix the pre-boosting issue though, which is one of the most annoying things with the Xbox control scheme.

I mean, I am able to press X and Y for example, or Y and B, but X and B are far from each other, how does this work? Also another question, I remember on PS2 you could have a lot of different Uber Tricks, but in your video I only saw “press L and B” or “press L and Y”, are there only 2 uber tricks or can you do all of them? Thanks!
Thank you, great to hear it helped! Doing the X + B grab can be really difficult depending on how you hold the controller. What I do is I take my right thumb and press X, and then my right index finger kind of loops back around to press B. It's wonky, but it works. And nah, you can do all of them! It's just that the game only wants to encourage a couple different buttons with that tooltip. Not sure why that is, honestly. :P
I loooooved this game when I was younger. I just recently bought it on xbox one s. I keep raging at this game cos I cant do tricks and I know for a fact the 7 year old version of me would bop me. (And I only just realised you can do flips with d-pad 🤦♂️).

Crash in what way? If they wipe out when you jump, that makes me think they're doing a grab. When you take off, do they still crash if you let go of all the buttons on the controller? Try just jumping off a ramp and putting the controller down, do they still crash? If not, when you normally jump, are you holding down the X button or one of the bumpers/triggers?
It runs well! Aside from a few small spots where the framerate suffers for a few seconds, it stays running well. Check out DigitalFoundry's video about it (just searching "digitalfoundry ssx 3" should return it) if you want to see more specifics about framerate and res. If you don't already have a disc, you can buy it on the Xbox store, just go in and search for it and it should be right there :)
Yeah, you unlock boards from getting gold medals in Conquer the Mountain, specifically you get new boards from the rival challenges (the backcountry races, backcountry jams, peak races and peak jams)... the ones that you don't get from beating events, you can buy in the lodges on each peak. :)

I believe it either looks a lot more blue than it actually is in the intro, or it was recolored between the time they made the intro and the game coming out. It looks white-grayish in the actual menu. :)

Not 100% confident in pro mode, but I believe it should be the same as in the default controls! Press and hold both triggers at the same time. You'll be able to protect yourself against one punch, though keep in mind there's a bit of a cooldown afterwards where the AI can hit you and you have no way to defend yourself. Hope that helps!

So, to me it sounds like your character is locking in the air because they're doing the grabs first, if you do the grabs first they'll lock and not wanna do any other tricks. See if it fixes it if you either hold off on your grabs and make sure you use the dpad first. You can also hold jump before a ramp, then press and hold the dpad, and they will prewind a flip in expectation of the jump. This should also work. Give that a go, hopefully that works! :)
Daggy ohh so you gotta tap the dpad in order to make spins to fill more your tricky meter? And what is a head plant and how you do it? Srsly the game sucks at explaining even the basic things
Captain Baddboy Yeah, that's it. The important part is to start doing the spins first, and adding grabs or ubers later on. A handplant is when the rider grabs onto a rail with their hand, letting you either get onto the rail or getting across the rail to the other side. Assuming you're playing on an X1, ride up to a suitable rail and hold one of the bumpers.
Are you asking because the option is grayed out in the main menu? Try to connect another controller and then it should open up to you. There is no need to unlock it. Hope that helps!

Boost and grab in same button (X) is a huge mistake from the developers, any way to get around this?
Sadly not :/ it's just a side effect of the original Xbox controller being very hard to work with for this particular control scheme.
