Well I’ve had the 4.7M for 2 weeks now and here are my 2cents. Pros: Once on foil is the most stable and efficient ride you can get, insane angle going upwind and definitely more speed.clear canopy really helps for incoming traffic. Cons: Really weak low end power, not the heaviest but it’s heavy and you feel it in light wind, jives and tacks are kind of a work out if it’s not windy, not for surfing, when drafting it twists and you’re fighting for the tips not to touch the water , deflation is not the slowest but slow, you have to fold the wing in a specific way for it not to damage the new material wish after the 4th session is kind of stressful if you just want to deflate and go. Really tight between the strut and the handles, your knuckles will feel it after a long session.
What were you flying before the SuperWing X? I am trying to decide between the WASP which I have ridden and like and the SuperWing X which I have not demoed.
@@mikecapuano8010 you should stay with the wasp, right now im riding the slingshot slingwing V3 and so far is the best I’ve had, solid construction, light ,good low end power flags good and really stable, and good price compared to other wings coming out .
Matt - the other issue is cost. I originally bought a Naish S25 when I started learning which I quickly realized was a mistake - too baggy. Now I've flown the Wasp which I like a lot better, much easier to pump up onto foil. So it's time for a new wing set up. On the cost, I could buy 3 WASPs 4/5/6 vs 2 X Wings 4.78/6.0. I have not demoed the X wing but hope to soon. What would you recommend? Also, do you have a comment on Miguels Martinez's pros/cons? Those seem pretty significant especially because I go out on my wing often when it is light.
Yes they are very different wings. The Aluula Ocean Rodeo Glide is crazy light. 4.2 lbs. While you are riding that wing feels pretty light but it is really underpowered. It hard to get started on the Glide as it has limited forward drive. Also the Aluula is so rigid that you feel every gust to make it a pretty unforgiving ride. The Hybrid Glide was a little more forgiving and 4.4 lbs. The X wing 4.7m rides a little bigger than the 5m Glide and the 4.2m rides a little smaller. Both are heavier on the scale 6.4 lbs and 6.0 lbs respectively but the design and materials fly better than the Glide so the X Wing in turn feels lighter. Also the X wing has great forward drive to get you on foil, is really balanced and just feels a lot better to ride than the Glide. Everyone is obsessing about getting the lightest wing and they are not taking into account the feel, ride and design of the wing that makes much more of a difference to how a wing rides. There is weight on a scale and weight while riding which are often times very different based on how well a wing was designed. In this example the Aluula wing is at least 1.5 lbs less than the X Wing but the X Wing feels lighter while you are riding.
We wanted to wait for the production wings to weigh them so we will have the weights up next week on our site. The X feels lighter in the air than the stock rip stop Super Wing.
Yeah the A Wings are awesome and still a bench mark we used for comparison. I also expressed my dislike for the one pump system to Damien. This has two of the thick one pump hoses for deflate. One on either side of the strut. Damien said he uses this system because it keeps the strut bladder locked in and it won’t ever come unseated and pop. In reality it deflates fine. Not as well as a dump valve on the strut but well enough and his logic makes sense.
People are tripping out about weights of wings which is relevant but not what it seems. We had a question about how the Reedin SuperWingX compares to the Ocean Rodeo Aluula Glide. Pretty interesting! Thanks for the first look Matt 👊🏻
I think this will change the game in terms of wing materials. This material together with the fold strip is insane in terms of rigidity!
Most Mylar Windsurfing sails hold up well for Snowfering (Windsurfer on ice). How well will this material hold up in sub 32 F (0 C) Snowwinging?
RRD did the fold strip 4 years ago with their compact windsurfing range.

Given you carry both this and the Glide (Aluula), how do they compare and who would you recommend each of these wings to?

@@REALmattnuzzo Whoa, shouldn't have buried that knowledge in a drop down box in the comments section! Golden knowledge in those words I'm thinking...
Nice, how'd you like the weight and actual performance?
Performance is insane. Better upwind angles and speed over the water. Weight felt normal. Will get the production set tomorrow and weigh them out.
@@REALmattnuzzo cool man. Hope we see some production versions compared to ZEN and other top performers 🤙 lots going on which is great 👍
Hate windows because most are useless, this looks like it might change the game. Now I just need rear-view mirrors.

Looks great cutting edge for sure. Sure it’s an expensive one.
Durable? Sun destroys windsurfing sails with ultraviolect radiation quite quickly

You have a V1 or V2 A-Wing? I sitting here debating between the two. Get the latest and greatest or save $350?
