I didn’t have the correct Allen wrench so I removed the center brush and was able to break mine loose with the male plastic piece that goes into the vac with a 8mm socket. It’s working now for me after breaking free. Thank you!
Didnt work easily at all at first and i had to put some force behind it but kept just clicking through the gears i imagine, felt pretty hopeless and thought a new one was in the immediate future, BUT then i just kinda went to town turning the allen wrench back and fourth then BOOM clicked in and we are in business. THANK YOU!
Yo people like you who posts such helpful and money saving tips like this should put a way for people like me to tip you. Cuz I was gonna buy and new Hoover and you sir kept me from wasting money and indirectly helping the planet by keeping this plastic vacuum out of the dumps for hopefully a couple more years.
after I freed that rotating part, the brush didn’t spin. Turned out there was just enough dirt on the bottom drain tank seals to affect the vacuum power that drives the brush; cleaned that up and back in business!
That's a good quick fix! I believe the bearings, as there's two of them, will eventually just seize up on ya. Looking for how to clean out build up from the soap in the hoses on mine and came across "Handcrafted Overlanding" UA-cam channel where he took his apart to grease. I've saved that one for later as I'm sure that will be my next need to fix on my machine. My machines handle broke after 2 uses. Fixed it with duct tape. :)
This worked like a charm. However, some feedback - it was very difficult to find an allen wrench that fit in the hole. I bought a slightly too small allen wrench (metric) and used a flathead screw driver to wedge it in. Also, it was not easy at all to turn the allen wrench, it took considerable force.
MINE JUST makes grinding noises as I move it back and forth with the Allen wrench , is it supposed to make that sound? And I can’t tell that they are moving yet, anyway I check it?
@50LOVESIT yes, the grinding noise is normal. It shouldn't be excessive, but it is gear driven. The brushes work from vacuum, so the carpet must be wet for the vacuum to pull enough power to engage the brushes properly.
Not a quick fix for me when I tried turning the Allen wrench it made a clicking sound as it turned not fat though then it stopped & locked in place. Not moving at all now. What's the next step in trying to fix the problem?!? Can you help me? 😟 cleaning the filter didn't help either.
Mine did that at first, sounded like a gear slipped or something. But eventually began to move again. If yours is locked in place, it may be beyond this repair, I'm sorry to say.
These units need wet carpet to work properly. If carpet is not saturated enough, they won't pull the water back out again. Maybe go back/forth a little slower, concentrate on spot cleaning vs trying to do too much area at one time and squeeze the water trigger using the rinse cycle. Hopefully that helps.
I think the belt needs replacing cuz of a burning smell and lots of noise. Can't figure out how to access it and can't find replacement belts online. Any help would be appreciated.
As far as I know, this is a turbine driven system. Like a turbo on a diesel engine. It does not have a belt, but rather a fan blade that provides the power to drive the gears for your brushes to spin. Your model may be different than mine? My best advice is to seek professional assistance or maybe time to upgrade your machine. Unfortunately, they just don't make em like they used to!
Mine stopped spray the detergent. Ever come across that issue? it sprays water fine. I'm hoping just an air bubble in the line. Read to prime the pump, but no where does it say do this with liquid in the unit or not lol
I did find a couple of vids about holding the trigger for up to a minute with the handle down with solution in the unit, so we'll see! thx for the reply back. @@RussW.
@gigi5gls This may sound a little weird, but here goes. Make sure your water tank is completely cleaned of any soaps, rinse very thoroughly. Fill tank with some clean water, like half full and place back on your machine. Here comes the weird part, please forgive me for how this sounds, remove a cap and blow into tank while depressing the trigger. This should add some pressure to the water lines and help clear them out. You can do this for the water side and the soap side. Again, please make sure the tank is completely clean before attempting so you do not get chemical in your mouth. I hope this helps.
@USMCdad470 do the brushes spin freely? This unit works off a vacuum, so it does need water on the carpet to create a good suction and get things moving. I have found more water, the better.
@DoofSan Well, they need to spin, and like I tell my kids, you can't break what's broke. So my best advice is to put the screws to those brushes and really torque on them to break them free. Worst case, it stays seized. In the best case, it breaks free and your back in business. Maybe an alternative is to soak the brushes in a CLR or similar? It may help to break them free? Just a guess though.
@DoofSan the brushes work from suction power from the vacuum. So if the carpet is dry, they will not spin. Be sure to have plenty of water/cleaner on the carpet to create that suction power to get those brushes spinning
It’s people like you who make the world a better place…a million thanks!!!!
Happy to help, thank you for the kind words.
OMG... Thank you .. I've been using the small brush to clean my carpet because the large brush stopped turning... Now fixed thanks to your video !

@@GregoryBusby-v1o Yay!! I am very glad to hear that it worked out for you!
God bless you sir. Bought an older model new in 2021 and spin scrub brush quit working today. Saved me money on a new motor or machine.
Really happy this fix worked for you! Thx for the feedback, cheers 🍻
Thank you for the simplicity. 😁

If I remember correctly, it was an 8mm.

Maybe run a little warm water through it? That's what I do so the soap doesn't solidify in the lines.
