I was gonna say that I use the hammer forged barrel for that small amount of extra damage range. I don't know if it's common knowledge, but for some reason the pellet count coincides with the mag size. Crazy. It's like the canted laser giving the other MW3 shotguns an absolute zero spread. Still, I think the after market sight with the laser gives a slightly higher reduction to tac stance spread. But then you have to deal with having a laser.
That's the only thing I don't like about shotguns in CoD; their inconsistency. Unless you specifically build a niche, maxed-out, narrow spread build, it feels like rolling a die every time you shoot something more than eight meters away. It feels like the logic in determining pellet spread is too punishing on velocity and oddly seems loaded with birdshot instead of buckshot.
I never use shotguns accept for some camo or event challenges but i will snipe because i think sniping takes more practice if you have a sniper that has good ads you will lose on aiming stability and flinch

Mw2 shottys feel so nerfed. I used to use the doom super shotgun for giggles but it now hitmarkers and takes to long to reload. 😢 I like the Riverter shotty with solid shot and spam hipfire for laughs 😊

Sidewinder in semi auto is not to bad but it's horrible compared to MTZ battle rifle. I got 78 kills on shipment with the Sidewinder TDM which is amazing considering i have 60 ping out in the Bush Australia and i still use a PS4.

Are shotguns op? Compared to the nerf guns in this game yes but is it accurate? If get shot in the chest from 2 feet away with double-aught buck you are expected to die TBF 😅
I would say the shotguns are more shotgunny than they were in MW2 lol. Not as op and they don't seem to one shot from miles away, at least not for me. Some of them take as many shots to kill as a smg or ar so I can't complain. The snipers in this game are op though, way worse.

There is a reason the Germans tried to outlaw shotguns after World War 1, but they are just like any gun in this game and have a huge disadvantage at medium to long range. Though the haymaker and the .410 have a build where you can turn it into medium range assault/battle rifle. Nothing greater than killing someone with a 50m long shot from a shotty.
I think the shotguns are weak is this game. Historically shotguns have always been horrible, like COD4 and WaW. Probably only good in MW2 OG, MW2019 and MWII. If people complain about shotguns in MWIII, I won’t hear it lol
