Well To like this you have to be a trombonist second you must like the arts and have a sense of the many hours of practice it takes to get to this point, bravo great articulation great sound and on the bass trombone Bravo.
Eddie Maldonado very true but it takes a greater meaning if you play the bass trombone. Because he plays very high for a bass. And then he plays fast and jumps octaves fast and clean. Which is easier to do on a tenor.
@@AWesome9749 I've been learning this on bass trombone for several months now I think the range is the easiest part, playing up to the double high Eb isn't as hard as it sounds with range practice, but it still does take a lot of dedication to develop this kind of range
I suppose it could be someone who dislikes the arbitrary and unnecessary difficulty of some passages. There's zero musical value in some of the more difficult parts. I still gave it a like for the sheer awesome skill involved in playing that, so just guessing based on what mildly annoyed me.
je suis entièrement de votre avis ! sur le CD Kaleidoscopie il y a la version complète de la pièce , bientôt en vente sur le Net , pour les erreurs moi je ne remarque rien de grave Gilles ( le papa du soliste ) bonne journée.
Awesome technique/range and sound! It looks like Bach bell with double Hageman valves. Mouthpiece???? "Fly or Die" de Gilles Rocha Great solo! GREAT playing! WOW! Would like to hear more from Lionel. Ludovic Coudert - do you know Lionel?
If I remember well it's mainly a Courtois he customized with different pieces at Hagmann Shop, Geneva. You may just contact him on facebook and ask. He play a Rath Mouthpiece, don't which but most probably the biggest one (B1).
aye man these comments just be confident! that's how I learned this ,if there's a will there's a way that's another thing because I do drum corps international so anything is possible
Itzmasa Hey that's awesome dude! What corp do you march or did you march with? If you're on tour right now, good luck this season and I will hopefully see you in Lucas Oil!
To the people who see this, if you search up "Fly or Die Orchestra" you can find a band playing it and it's really good and only had like 15 views right now somehow
This is an incredible performance. It may be this video of "canal9valais" has been sound edited by a professional for an even more superhuman appearance. Great nonetheless. I did not press dislike :)
+Bonowombo I agree sound was edited in order to make it more like a live performance, but I don't believe any of that editing included intonation. Generally sound editing only improves actual quality of recording.
+Bonowombo Paraphrasing, you said, "I didn't actually hear bad sounds, so I'll try and flavor the performance by commenting that they were there but got edited out." Bonowombo, you're an amazing player, let this guy have some glory without trying to breed doubt. It's like admitting, "Wow, that guy is so good I can't believe I could ever play that well, so I'm jealous and think I'll try and add some poop on the parade.... " All trombonist are lifted by this performance, like an incoming tide lifts all boats. You're version of "All of Me" is one of my all time trombone performances... I make people listen to it on my phone because it's "that" good, people respond even with tiny little phone speakers...... :-)

I'm trying to arrange this (I want a challenge and free music), can someone pls tell me what key (i got A flat but I have only listened deeply to like 15 seconds, pls correct me if i'm wrong) and time signature this is in?
i love how he fucks up 4 bars before section D. And he skips from G to H cos he can't play a pedal D. Well who can play a pedal D tho...xD. Also slight inconsistency in the rhythms but other than that, this is amazing. Such fat pedals and clean articulation. Also your phrasing was really nice. I can't believe you actually incorporated the accents with demi-semi triplet quavers.
so many mistakes its insane...but it still looks impressive af despite the amount of mistakes. The music just arrived today...its ridiculously difficult.
At first I was like "Hey maybe I should play this for this year's solo contest" *30 seconds later* "Nevermind..."
Same 😂😂😂

Fantastic!! Also big ups for Amy Farrah Fowler on keys :)
thomasswatland bruu thats exactly what i was thinking
thomasswatland comedy
this dude got more range than a piano
In reality he does almost play the bottom note on a piano lol
His sheet music probably looks like someone just splashed black ink all over it.
+Spruce Bruce You can get the sheet music online. It doesn't look as bad as you would think!
+Eric Lozaga Do you happen to have a link to this music? I found a link but it isn't the same as what he plays.

pour le concours de solistes la durée de la pièce est limitée à 6 minutes, cela demande de couper certains passages, pour éviter les pénalités.
He skips G to H because he can't play a pedal D. I haven't heard anyone ever play that low...so idk what Gilles Rocha was thinking when he wrote it.
best pedal D I've ever heard
The run at 5:00 got me so whet

All I can do is laugh in utter amazement. What a fantastic and inspiring talent!
That's amazingly awesome...... I think 5 people mis-clicked.
I just love how he had to play in a four octave range on a bass trombone. Imagine that on a contrabass.
Its not 4 octave range...its 4 and a half, low C1 to F5
@@concealedinshrub8357 um, pedal D to to a double high Eb, that's 5 octaves plus a half step..
What? Trolling on trombone without trigger, crazy 4:35. Gotta give this guy some credit never heard such a nice trill on trombone if ever.
I can say as i play trombone and know the hours of daily practice this man will be a virtuoso.
Honestly when I see this it makes me want to cry in his beautiful this is and how I wish I could do that... I'll hopefully get there one day
I also wish I could download it

Ashlack See on his bell.
Well, may be a Bach bell but it's still a highly customized instrument, with pieces from diverse origins. Definitely not a standard Bach or whatever.

+Bonowombo Also its easier to hide intonation problems when you're playing super fast. Listening to this still blew my mind though.
+Bonowombo : having listened to this live, I would strongly dispute that there was any particular Sound editing... it sounded THAT good...
+Threepi80 Well, "live" always sounds more impressive than a recording. That´s why sound editing was invented.
+Bonowombo I agree sound was edited in order to make it more like a live performance, but I don't believe any of that editing included intonation. Generally sound editing only improves actual quality of recording.
