I purchased this exact watch today. The case for the 42mm just fits on my wrist. I think they could improve it by having the lugs curve down. I would not go with the 42mm if your wrist is less than 7".
Because of the protruding case back and the flatness of the case, even the 39mm case will have a gap toward each end on my 7" wrist even though my wrist is quite a bit wider than the case of the 39mm.
The black version, in my non-humble opinion, is easily the best. In person, the blue is too flashy for my liking (though in a jewelry store they've lights everywhere to make everything look more blingy, ymmv). I do wish the bezel on the black version was darker. It does not come across in video and photos, but the bezel on the black is like a charcoal. The dial is darker. But ultimately, the black version is the best look. It looks like a proper watch with a bit of polish.
I do not like the green bezel version. That one jumped out at me initially, but I do not like combining green and gold. It always looks like a watch is trying to look more expensive than it is.
The blue GMT hand didn't do it for me in pictures/video, but it's really nice in person. Just a subtle color difference.
I have found that some numbers on the date wheel are aligned left, though none so egregious as the 15 in your example. Most of them are perfectly centered. It's also difficult to tell without shining a light on the watch because the date dial and watch dial completely blend in, especially indoors.
I don't mind the stars like many people do. I actually hate the name of the watch way more. I understand their explanation of "Zulu Time" instead of GMT. But it is plainly marketing. That's fine. Marketing is done for every consumer good. They went and printed it on the dial though... lol. Maybe they'll fix the name and call it the "Spirit GMT" as it should, and us early adopters will have collectors pieces.
Some people don't like the case back is not a typical screw down. I have seen this watch with the case back removed. There is no room for threading. That is how they've gotten the watch relatively thin. If you want a screw down case back, the watch will have to be thicker.
Great watch. Very happy with my purchase as it stands. Spending $3k would normally make me a bit anxious after getting home, but I keep smiling at the watch. Total winner.
Congratulations!!
I just purchased the black/black in 42! They had the 39 as well but to my eyes the 42 was perfect and my wrist is 6.75”. The 42 dial for me was easier on the eyes while the 39 felt too closed up for my liking. However your assessment of the sizing I can agree with. I supposed I sacrificed the “perfect fit” for having an “easier on the eyes” feel. We picked a nice watch and I’m 1000% with you that black/black is the best 😊
Brought the Green One, 42 mm three months ago, just look better at the real thing. Go for one of this, no regret.
I just bought the green one in 42 mm and TRUST ME you won’t stop looking at it. Stunning
I love this watch. It's pricey though for an average Joe. My go-to until I can buy one is my Glycine GMT. At $550 it's quite good.
Just one of the most beautiful watches made in the last 5 years. There is no Tudor that looks half as good as this.

@@rjsmedo bingo
this watch is photogenic, but it was an instant pass when I saw it in person. specifically the matte black dials. they just don’t look great, and the stars look weird
The dept who does Tudor product naming are the same guys who work for Samsung. Everything's a Blackbay or a Galaxy.
@@rjsmedoTudor is a cheap copy of a Rolex…
I have the green bezel version of this watch and absolutely love it. The only thing that’s not great is the clasp, and it’s not that bad really. If I was being super picky, I’d say it would be nice if the lugs had a bit more downturn to them. But it’s a great watch and is quite accurate.
Very nice watch and you’re not paying over marketed prices that’s the key. Longines just do their thing year after year. It’s the kind of brand I always appreciate.
You have the right wrist size to pull off this 42mm Zulu. The huge protruding male endlinks is a deal breaker for me, due to my small wrist size. Glad that they released a 39mm version recently and it might just work for me 😊 Great review as always 👍
Too large for my taste. Needs female end links.
Go for the 39 mm, at least have a look, you will love it.
Bought Spirit Zulu time 42mm S&G 2 weeks ago. I love it.
Indicies and numerals together and a clean symmetrical dial with a chronometer movement. Longines understands their audience and gets it right every-time.
Out of my price range when converted to Canadian, but I do really like this watch. Definitely would take it over a similarly priced Tudor like someone else said below.
Gorgeous. The black dial really, really pops. And it definitely competes against more expensive watches.
NIce looking watch and I love that it has the Traveler function.
Amazing watch and brand, I love them and want one so dang bad!
I'm really blown away by the recent Longines. The Heritage Tuxedo you reviewed. The homage to the 1942 13ZN Chronograph which is a near 1 to 1 of the one John Goldberger called the perfect chronograph when he did the famous Hokdinkee. High praise for Longines coming from a guy with the white gold Daytona and who knows how many Paul Newmans and Patek chronos. The new Conquest which is very Vacheron Overseas reminiscent with similar minute track, long hour markers and slim hour and minute hands on a sunray dial. And contrary to the influencer criticisms I think the Spirit Flyback Chronograph automatic is a great nod to the Longines heritage of being one of the rare few brands who could make their own chronograph and didn't just outsource it like Rolex, Tudor and even Patek.
Great review of this gmt. I am considering buying this watch but also looking at the 39mm Hydroconquest. I couldn't find a review of yours on that watch.
I opted for the 39mm Hodinkee collab with rotating steel bezel in Grade 5 titanium. Amazing.
Really interested in this watch for the omega esque brushing
Ho Yeap, Longines know what there doing, that Spirit series is fabulous and what can we say about there Ultracon just a great watch. Best big brand money can buy.
The watch is awesome but that clasp doesn’t fit well. It would look better with just the logo at the end and would definitely be awesome to have otf adjustments
👍👍👍 Nice Watch 👍👍👍
I wondering this watch or Oris Whale Shark Aquis GMT ? One Is limited edition, the other is chronometer certified! Both are great watches, I can only pick one . Your thought’s.?
Awesome watch! I prefer a bidirectional bezel on a GMT which is why I bought the Seiko 5 GMT vs the other microbrand watches with the NH34. This watch with the Travelers GMT movement is a great value at 3K.
I have both, just brought the Seiko 5 GMT (office GMT) one month. I love both of them.
It's a stellar value for a COSC true GMT with push button interchangeable bracelet and a longer inhouse heritage than Rolex and Tudor. You can't even get a Black Bay 3 hander for $3k and it's not even a true in house movement.
I love this watch it's a strong contender for my next watch it's between this & BB58 👍 hopefully you'll do a review of the 39mm soon .
Is a bidirectional bezel for people who swing both ways 😳
Everyone’s opinion is equally valid I guess- but it does blow my mind how someone can hold this in person next to a 58 or any other BB and not think the Zulu is by FAR the more beautiful watch. Why would anyone pay more for a Tudor
@@italianstallion3130 I haven't seen either one in person but from the reviews & pictures I've seen i agree .
Acquistato ieri versione da 39m black “polso da 16”
Bellissimo e curato nei minimi dettagli
Thanks for the comment
At 4:03 the date "15" seems a bit misaligned. I have seen another channel complaining about date misalignment as well.
Creo que el bisel es de 24 clicks y no de 60 por eso se siente muy diferente al de buceo. Me qudo con el de 38 mm. Va a pasar desapercibido.
Salú2 desde Puebla México.
Does this have a quick set date? Probably not. I own a few traveller GMTs and a few callers. If it does not have a quickset and you use the watch as a daily your ok. But if you have a watch rotation, be prepared to use the hour hand to run through 24 hour cycles to progress the date. Or use a watch winder. For this reason I prefer my caller GMTs, first position up clockwise rotation changes the date, down changes the GMT hand, its very quick and makes sense. (I may have that reversed but you know what I mean) Its a beautiful watch and will probably get one in the secondary market once the date window is fixed. If its that type of "True"
Is not “long jeans”... is more like lonzeen (the final s is silent)
Sorry but the correct pronunciation is long-jean-silver. Many leave the silver off. The name is derived from folk hero, Long John Silver.
If this is the same as the spirit, the strap has micro adjustment and the bracelet doesn't. Not sure what longines was thinking.
I agree. They have a better clasp than omega for their straps
I love when the reviewer has a 7.5” wrist exactly the same as me. I think the 42 will be the better size.
I'd like to try on both i have 6.75 in. Wrist .
I have the 42 mm and a wrist of 7.5 it works wonders. Not to big.
Sold!
Ultra chron
3:12 it’s just me or the date is totally misaligned ?
Yes it is a reported issue, but this example is pretty bad.
Yes it’s the worst from 10-19
Are all of them misaligned?? Not good enough for a luxury watch
It's not misaligned, its how it's printed but I agree it should be better.
You dont pronounce the "s" in Longines.
no, in french s are mute
the green one , I have it,
IS crazy to watch sorry
They great! Love that its chronometer cert. One of my grails, on the side with the new pelagos in tits.
FYI, the "s" in Longines should not be pronounced...
A friendly correction… It is pronounced Longine. The “s” is silent. ua-cam.com/video/DprLGZGkYuQ/v-deo.html
Too big and thick I'm afraid.
Seems over priced to me.
Hold it next to a Seiko or Tissot in person and you will change that opinion. The quality and finishing is on par or better with competitors that cost thousands more.
What other true GMT with a COSC certified movement would you suggest instead ?
it s not , cosc, true gmt, superb on all level, oldest brand ever and comes from their history, the BB pro is actually overrated
Ah yes, the everything is overpriced stage of the addiction. You’ll soon see the light…or fall deeper into the pit 🤣
Hunting for this Longines I came to Steinhard OceanOne Titanium 500m Ceramic Diver with same movement , open caseback beauty but price less for around $700 only(!) Now this is my favoured everyday watch .
Hey, the steinhard has a different movement FYI
It’s not the same movement. Longines doesn’t share movements with other swatch group brands.
How not the same…if both based on ETA2892? A difference is GMT module and decoration only…or not? @@mariog7213
