    Your teaching skills are AMAZING. My mom was a semi professional violinist/pianist and my dad a professional teacher (clarinet, and once world champion harmonica) - and hubby played solo bagpipes for the queen of England. But of course it took me 50+ years to actually start taking the piano seriously myself.
    I wasn't entirely new to the piano (and definitely grew up in a house filled with non stop live music) so I lived and breathed your explanations for the past week and flew through the lessons until I reached this part of the book where I am having to REALLY pay attention (and practise, yikes, haha).
    Unfortunately I don't have any opportunity to get a real live tutor where we live (Canadian boonies), but you are definitely 99% the teacher I never had ^_^
    I absolutely LOVE how you place emphasis on being precise with the music, and show exactly when to use/lift the pedal, handle wrist, hands and fingers, keeping the chords softer than the melody (that's HARD!) etc etc etc.
    Honestly for people who self study, I couldn't recommend your videos more. THANK YOU for having taken the effort to talk us through the entire book!

    I'm taking lessions now, and you are great in showing and explaining how to play each piece in a way we can understand. I frequently come here when I can't resolve a passage. I am working on this one and the Blues for WWhynton Marsalis at the same time.

    Can we play some notes legato and some notes at the end more staccato? Is it still correct? Thank you for this lesson, Teacher

      Once you have learned it the way it is written, you can adjust things if you like.

    You said in an earlier comment that "if nothing is shown, legato is used". If so, how do you know when *not* to play legato? How is that marked?
    Thanks for your work. I follow each and every lesson you've uploaded on this book.

      You're welcome! When no staccato is shown, you can use legato as the default, but you can actually play it as you seem correct. It is up to you. Experiment to see what you like and play as you see fit. If they really wanted something, they would show it.

    How did you know to play the right hand legato when the book doesn’t show it?

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  3 роки тому +1

      For today's style, if nothing is shown, legato is used. Actually, if nothing is shown, you can do what you want, but start with legato first and try other things later to see what you like best.
