I've spent so much time on this song. I am new at piano at age 56. I decided to learn on my own when pandemic started last year. I hope to one day to be able to play somewhat good. I have a long way to go. I have lots to learn. Thank you for the videos. They help so much.
Thanks so much for your videos and wisdom, I also decided to take on piano at the age of 66, self teaching is really hard, but you make it a lot easier for me. Still struggling but , I won't quit! Now age 68 😊
Man, I spent a week on the piece before this one (Little Brown Jug) to get my hands to finally do different patterns of movement (like that descending bass line.) I finally got it. But then...THIS piece!!! My darn hands want to mirror the movements (especially the right hand.) I'll be on this one for a week, at least. (I should clarify; I tend to practice only about 15 min each time, but 3 or 4 times a day, sometimes. If I'm walking past the keyboard, I'll sit and tinker a bit throughout the day.) I've played fingerstyle guitar for almost 50 years, and the two hand motions are not similar, one plucks or strums, and the other presses down on strings. But the piano is all so new to me.
I think as you progress, you will find that you are spending more and more time learning each piece. A week is actually really fast to learn a new piece well. I also practice short periods of time several times a day. That works best for me.
My main issue with this piece is playing 2 notes simultaneously with the same hand, especially when there's a black+white key that need to be played. The problem is that one note always seems to lag slightly behind, i.e. it's hard to play these harmonics perfectly simultaneously. Any tips? Edit: I'll also add that when I record myself these "lags" aren't as noticeable when I listen to the recording. It may be due to poor recording quality but perhaps I'm just making it a bigger deal than it actually is.
It takes a lot of time to get multiple notes down at the same time. Even the pros don't do it all the time. I have always struggled with it. All I can suggest is to form your hand as it needs to be for the notes involved and lower the entire hand. If one note is always first, concentrate on the other notes and see if that helps.
I checked the video but I don't see where you are seeing me play a b natural. The video looks correct to me. I play b-flats everywhere except where there is a natural sign in front of the not.

@@LetsPlayPianoMethods I will try that, thank you.
Hi sir, for the second line first measure, why you play nature B but not B flat as there is F major?
I checked the video but I don't see where you are seeing me play a b natural. The video looks correct to me. I play b-flats everywhere except where there is a natural sign in front of the not.
