I'm hoping this film is good enough to erase "Oz the Great and Powerful" from canon... assuming anyone remembers "Oz the Great And Powerful" to begin with.
I'm honestly loving the visual direction of the film! The setting is spectacularly over-the-top, and I love that Glinda's and Elpheba's outfits execute "preppiness" in ways distinct to their characters!
i'm still weirded out at seeing Christi, after so many years of Diva and Musical Hell. but I'm also loving it but about the trailer...they should have hung back with "defying gravity" and any shots of the Emerald City...they should have held these back. so many know the story, but at least save some things
That is the problem with a lot of trailers I can think of (especially horror films) they show too much of what is in this film in the previews. I know they're trying to whet people's appetite for what's in the film. But if movie goers can see the whole premise of the film, it kind of defeats the purpose. I would like to see a "less is more" policy in coming attractions myself. I am definitely looking forward to this movie (having never seen Wicked on stage myself), I would like to see how a straight up musical like Wicked would do at the box office, after "stealth musicals" like Mean Girls and The Color Purple had outperformed expectations at the multiplex. We seriously need another movie musical phenomenon like Chicago!
I hate to tell you this but the color purple was not a hit. In fact it was a box office bomb. Mean girls did better but it's not going to be one of the highest grossing films this year.
I’m just happy that they are actually advertising it as a musical. Because lately a lot of advertisements for Movie musicals have not been advertised as such. The Mean Girls movie musical was not even called Mean Girls The Musical it just had a little note in the font which I doubt many people noticed. I only knew it was a musical because i’ve seen the stage production. Same for Color Purple. But as for Wonka, I had no idea that would be a musical until I read some UA-cam comment saying that it was it just goes to show how little confidence Hollywood has in musicals.
I found out Wonka was a musical when I watched it lol. They need to return to advertising musicals as musicals because I hate sitting down to watch a film thinking it's going to be one thing and discovering it's not. I love musicals, but it feels like they're trying to trick you and I don't appreciate being duped. Honestly, I would have been more interested to see Mean Girls and The Color Purple if, when the trailers came out, I knew they were based on the musicals and not just remakes of their respective iconic films.
Based on the reactions from CinemaCon and the 4K screencap threads on Twitter/X, the film looks more brighter than UA-cam made it out to look. Wicked is easily my most anticipated film for the rest of the year. Can’t wait for November!

I think Glinda s costumes are so muted is because I think they're trying to tell a story through costumes of how Elphaba influenced Glinda s world to become more colourful and vibrant But it's also just a hypothesis
I'm really looking forward to this movie. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how it compares to the musical (which I was lucky enough to see two years ago).
As someone who doesn't particularly love this musical, the movie looks intriguing. I'm mostly excited about the cast, I feel that they have the potential to make something special. Not crazy about the whole splitting the story into 2 movies for cash bit, but Hollywood is gonna Hollywood I guess.
I feel cautiously curious about this. I love the stage show music (although, honestly, having never seen the show, I think I like my brain's version of the story better than what I've heard the show's story is...) so if they do the music justice, there's a chance it could be ok. Not sure about that 2 movie thing, though...
I think this movie looks good. I like the design and the cast looks very good. I'm a fan of Ariana Grande as Galinda. I think that's solid casting and she seems to be super committed to the role. It looks so much fun, but it also looks large in scale and powerful. I like what I'm seeing.
A lot of people are annoyed that its going to be 2 parts. Its 2 parts because they are including details from the book. They wanted to make sure to keep all the songs and include all the material that is about wicked. ALSO, the trailer music is just TRAILER MUSIC, we will not be getting a "poppy" version of popular... even though popular is a pop song.......
It’s still a smidge odd to see videos on this channel not headlined by a JPEG, but that’s the nature of familiarity, No? In any case, I’m here for the long haul. As for Wicked? Well, I’m very much a novice in that I only kinda know the big 3 songs from the show through cultural osmosis. But the concept intrigues me enough for me to see this film version when it hits theaters, so….yeah.
My mom and I triggered simultaneous brainrot when this trailer came out; we like to watch every special feature and we hunted them all down 😂 Also I’m listening to this whole album on repeat when it comes out ❤❤❤❤
It's awesome to see you. Your content is amazing. I'm pretty cautious about the movie, but I hope it wouldn't disappoint. Movie musicals should redeem themselves (again).
Hi Diva, I'd like to let you know that the Musical Hell episode on The Lorax movie has been taken down by Universal Studios, could you be to fix this problem and Reupload it?
Cautiously optimistic. I don't want to get excited for it. The last time I was super stoked and excited for a stage to film musical I saw Les Miserables. I do not want to allow myself that level of disappointment again, fool me once, etc. I know this one doesn't have Tom Hooper's hands on it, 🎶Thank Goodness🎶 but John M. Chu did give us Jem and the Holograms... still, like I said, cautiously optimistic.
my main reason why i won't watch this will be taht they cast a nearly 40 year old as Elphaba. It's a university setting coming of age story. on stage you can get away with a lot, but her age clearly shows in this trailer.. aldo the ridiculousness' of splitting it into 2 movies.
I love this new segment, Christi. I'll miss Diva and Musical Hell, but I'm greatly anticipating these trailer reactions.
I might’ve missed something, is she no longer doing Musical Hell?
@@Avileable2 No, she wrapped it up last month with a review of "The Devil's Carnival."
@@trinaqbummer! I loved that series.
@@trinaq nooooo 😭😭😭😭
I'm cautiously optimistic...
(Crosses fingers)
_Please be good. Please be good._

Same!!! I am so worried this will be like Cats

I don't know about the rest of the marketing, but from this trailer one could very easily assume it's NOT a musical, though.
Songs that I need to hear Loathing, Dancing through life, Thank goodness, and Not good deed❤

I could totally see that!
Looks great! This is definately a must see. I read the book and saw the Wicked stage show in London about 8 years ago...
I wish we could keep seeing your reviews on musicals
I am going to be so normal about this film. Well, about as normal watching this trailer over 200 times anyway.
I'm really looking forward to this movie. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how it compares to the musical (which I was lucky enough to see two years ago).
Wow it’s amazing to see you again ! This trailer has a massive Oz nerd yet someone who’s lukewarm to Wicked, excited !
My only concern is if they're still doing two films, then they clearly gave away almost the entire first movie in this trailer.
At least Wednesday got half the dorm room.
I wonder if Kristen Chenoweth or Idena Menzel will make cameos.
As someone who doesn't particularly love this musical, the movie looks intriguing. I'm mostly excited about the cast, I feel that they have the potential to make something special.
Not crazy about the whole splitting the story into 2 movies for cash bit, but Hollywood is gonna Hollywood I guess.
Oh wait. TWO films? *sighs sadly*
A Wicker Man? I believe you mean a Wickered Witch!
I have never seen the stage version and struggled to read the book. So glad they are making a movie

My friend from the university wants to do Wicked, with her as Elphaba and me as Galinda 😅💖💚
I had hoped they put more of the novels in this
I'm excited for this movie.

i think they always do that in trailers just to fit the vibe of the trailer

who's going to lead us through the ZOMBIES reanimated series?
It's awesome to see you. Your content is amazing.

4:02 I guess really wanted their own Harry Potter since they have him in Universal Studios park
Do a reaction to Joker: Folie a Deux!
I love the land of oz so much 🌈🧙🏻♀️🦁🌪️👠
With as far into the plot that the trailer shows, what on Oz are they going to fill the second film with?
probably act 2 I assume. act 1 ends with defying gravity in the musical. then you go to intermission.
Cautiously optimistic. I don't want to get excited for it. The last time I was super stoked and excited for a stage to film musical I saw Les Miserables. He also gave us In the Heights, which among other things has some damn awesome choreography scenes.
Very true!
Harry Potter was my thought seeing this, too.
Great reaction.
I thought Elphaba majored in chemistry or something? It's been a long time since I read the book.
the book and the musical are VERY different.
Oh God, I forgot they're stretching this out to two movies...which just cut my interest in seeing either by half.
Is Wicked stage musical long enough to be adapted into 2 movies?
Ok so how would you adapt the 2 hour and 40 minute musical into a film and explain everything the musical skips
she tries to act more like Kristen Chenoweth and she isn't. I wish she understood the character versus just copying Glinda.
Kristen Chenoweth is a high bar to clear, for sure.
Yeah... I'm really hoping Grande will prove me wrong because I'm to sold on her performance in these trailers/teasers.
This is my first tiem seeing what you look like in real life
This is irrelevant, but I had no idea what you look like but wow, you’re gorgeous
There's a lot of Not Quite Rightness about this...
Can you cover Thelma the Unicorn, Kinky Boots, Hair, and/or Hairspray for either At the Source and/or Know the Score

I have to disagree with you. She does not look anywhere near 40. I don’t find it distracting but you’re entitled to feel that way.
Hi a
