One of the best ways to accomplish this is with 'positional isometric training' - Position yourself in the basement of a squat with an immovable amount of load on the pins and practice contracting 'through' the proximal add magnus region

I haven't thought of it this way before. I have always thought from the opposite side. I see alot of pts. w/ valgus knee with squat and when I manual muscle test them, their post. glute med. is significantly weak. Now I will make sure to pay closer attention to the adductors to see if they are also playing a role. The majority of the pts. are female and they are quad dominant. Derrick Eddy, M.D.

Thanks Andreo! Out of interest why do you pay more attention to Magnus, as opposed to Brevis or Longus? Is it the main player in the squat?

Hi! What does it mean if my adductor magnus are sore after doing squats and sumo RDLS?

If the knee is pulling in, why wouldn't that be due to an inability of the Glute Med and Min to oppose the adducting force. I can't see how the adductors could adduct the femur if they're being equally opposed by the abductors. Could I get a clarification?

I have the opposite issue: weak quads and overuse of adductors, leading to knee cave.

I would make sure your glutes, especially the glute medius, are firing properly. I'd bet all my money that is your problem.

Lowbar squats, feet turned out about 30° (depending on your personal anthropometry) and, as always, knees track over the feet the whole time.
