These poor people are amazed by the fact that other countries respect their citizens basic human rights?
Global safety and security are guaranteed by the US, you don't know a world without it. Go outside the US-protected sphere, see how long you last. These people are all in NATO-protected countries that rely on US protection.
@Anna's Mind 444 There are laws against shooting your neighbours, no matter what they look like. Also if your neighbour comes on your property to shoot you, you can shoot him in self-defence. In other countries, even if it was self-defence, you could still go to jail.

American people that never have been abroad should see this
Americans that just don't see the big picture. Not all of us haven't seen all of this and these issues and others for a long time. Good adults sharing the information makes the difference. ❤
I know Americans that have been abroad in EU countries. They still ignorantly think it is the greatest place on Earth, while proudly boasting how they haven't visited doctors in years.
I am thinking of going abroad for collage and university and I felt I needed to look into what kind of changes or culture shocks I would go through
@@Eh__ or you could just dive in with no research and let your parents pay to get you out of trouble.
It’s what everyone really does.
Now...I'm sad 😔
I'm sorry what??? They don't let the grocery cashiers sit down in the us?
Why... would they have to stand? Literally their job is stationary!
Even in Canada, you have to stand at the till. When I was a cashier, and I wasn't busy, I was to stand in front of the entrance to my till to "welcome" the customer before returning to the cash register. That always seemed a little silly to me - but I guess the point was to communicate an outgoing, active attitude rather than a passive, reserved attitude.
You do get a gel pad to stand on at the till, but still, NO gel pad or comfy shoes or insoles are a match for 8 hours of standing in place.
As a teenager in Iceland I used to work in a grocery store which was famous for always switching staff and using young workers. There during the busiest time of the day we weren't allowed to sit because according to my boss we worked faster standing up... Now as an adult I'm pretty sure this is not really legal and there's a lot of things I should have been smarter about during my time there but in other stores there's a chair by every register. I was just working for one of the worst large businesses here 🤷
In the US the job of cashier is not a stationary job. We're actually told that "we're not being paid to stand around, there is always something to do." Most US cashiers (I say most cuz non-US stores like Aldis; they sit) you also stock, clean, and whatever else they decide tack on to the job title of cashier. All for the low price of $7.25/hr
@@NopeUghUghAbsolutelyNot At least when I worked that job in Canada, it was unionized and we got regular (if minuscule) pay raises. And I didn't have to do someone else's job, for the most part.
It's heinous that the U.S. has a federal minimum wage, but it's still stuck at the joke level it is. 😟
@@DataLal Oh Corps in the US are great with anti union propoganda. They even include videos about why unions are bad when they train you lol. The US is a trip. I'm glad to see Americans abroad and just visitors calling us out on the bs
Cashiers don't sit in the US?????? You pay for insulin??? People work 80hr weeks??? We work 42 average and it already seems high! Mind blown 😱😱
Yes, Cashiers stand up. They don't even have chairs at their stations. Insulin is about 80 USD. Work week can get up to 82 hours. Mine ranges from around 50-70 as a computer programmer.
42 hrs?!! 37,5 that's all.
@@yvindrstepedersen2494 I work from 9 AM to 18:00 PM, 2 smoke breaks from 11-11:10 and 16:00-16:10 and lunch break from from 13:00-14:00. Overall if I exclude my breaks it is exactly 37 working hours a week. Just thinking of 80 feels absolutely criminal.
They don't know that the American dream is actually a nightmare😂😂
George Carlin said some nice things about the american dream
One black American friend once asked me "how is it like to live Africa?". I told him that "you will forget that you are black. You are just a person. "
Exactly no free housing, unlimited welfare and victim points on test scores, you will have to put up or get the fuck out, hence most of them will never come to africa
that must feel so freeing.

I had some African American guests over on business and we thought we'd take them on a bush game safari....bad idea...apparently bugs, snakes and stuff that can and actually do want eat you can cause a major freak out.
My husband had a heart attack and the ambulance ride from our house to the hospital 8 miles away was $3000. He later had to be transfered to another hospital 15 miles away and that cost $11,000. I think America has alot to learn from other countries health systems.
He is ok??
Whaaat!
@@ChoCoMoCo69 no. He had been without oxygen to long. They said if he survived he would be a vegetable. It makes me want to move to Europe so badly, even more than before now. I always say I wish I were British. People here get so defensive about the U.S. and they say I'm not grateful.
They’re just a mini USA- save for their healthcare and no gun law.

@@andreavoros-marky4203 Exactly!
Don't think you want to be British this day and age. They have been mad struggling with the pandemic and the brexit.

@@Beusheu that’s not true. There are food shortages and it’s bad, but it’s not so bad we’re hang up pictures of food ffs
I would say you don’t want to move to Britain though. Go somewhere warm and less racist with a better work-life balance and less political instability.
Things I realized living abroad: the US' "live to work" mentality rather than "work to live", how we get maybe 20-30 minutes for lunch, food is basically fuel not to be enjoyed just keep us going, we treat workers as robots to service the Customers' needs, that we're rather distant and fornal, and *deep breath* AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE
Yeah which is why we give our guys one hour lunches but 30 minutes of that is on paid time. We try to give them livable wages and put our faith in God that He will provide. There are companies that won’t pay what our work is worth but we do take some of the jobs because we have our crews that have families depending on them and some are sole providers for their homes. We must help each other even if in just small ways. It isn’t much but we try. No one in our crew earns less than $22/hr and that’s a trainees starting wage.
I not only am afraid of being shot out on the streets here in the US, I'm also afraid that the cops will "mistakenly" kick in the door of my apartment and hold me and my family at gunpoint. Happens "mistakenly" all the time.
crazy stuff
As an American we are so stressed out and miserable we just want to go home! I felt that one
Why are you stressed out? I’m sure it’s based off of your choices and your thought process. Europeans don’t have this idea of making it. Many are okay with living in a 600 sq foot apartment and not owning a car. Many Europeans don’t live in big cities rather smaller town and cities. If you changed these aspects you may find more happiness and contentment.
Living in Europe I'm mad that American culture taught me to feel guilty to take vacation and call in sick to work! Europeans work but they also know that it's OK to take vacation and call in sick.
@@fobbitguy true they have a better balance. US companies have been seeing how far they can push the American worker and it seems like we’re hitting a breaking point. Demand more from you employers. Unionize if needed. Workers have all the power. Without the worker companies cannot exist demand more from your politician and even run for office yourself if you really think something needs to change.

Lived in Japan for 2 years. Best abroad experience. No violence. No school shootings, No bombings. Running stop signs was about the most crime that occurred. You can buy alcohol at 7-11 and drink at 7am and no one bats an eye. My apartment was blocks a from a casino-style gambling house run by the Japanese Mafia, who were there daily, I had absolutely no clue until 6 months before I left. The tattoo’d men in all black that stood outside were sooo nice when I would walk to work. The police don’t carry weapons, because they don’t need to! My friend left his iPad on a train in Yokohama, 2 weeks later it was returned to him, fully charged!!! Let that have been America, it would have been on Facebook marketplace the same day. But go off about how Amurica is the Greatest.
Japan is a whole other planet.
Japan has a mad suicide problem though. Apparently that lifestyle is not too conducive to happiness.
Japan where ven the mafia is nice
Yeah, it's nice there. But you're holding the US to a much high standard across the board.
@@Nitro-SmK forgot if it was this video or pt1 of this video. But when the person said “Americans just work work work” I thought of Japan’s workaholic problem where they literally are worked to death or suicide
I don’t think USians are taught that other countries aren’t “free” but rather we really just don’t learn about other countries at all, which I think is even worse than being taught that other countries aren’t free. It breeds a different level of Eurocentrism when our education system does this.
I aaaaaabsolutely agree! I just wanted to say I’ve never heard anyone say USians, I love it it’s so funny
Exactly, and its ALL by DESIGN! Every single part of the us system is to put our minds in a box and it shows. The false sense of patriotism indoctrination is crazy. Ive come to realize that living in the US is equivalent to living in a giant sweatshop that has amusement parks
I always use US-Americans to differentiate from just Americans (continent), but i never heard USians haha, it doesn't sound bad either.
Heard once USA-ers. As if " new york-ers" I don't know if it is correct though.
I am very passionate about history, and here in NZ, I think they (the education system) do a good job of making sure most important aspects of history are taught. Sure, we teach way more Western history than for example, Russian history, but that is the same for basically all Western countries. I have never actually been to the U.S, but from what I’ve heard, their history teaching is really messed up. They focus way too much on like the War of Independence and the U.S civil war, which are still important historical events, but come on, at least teach some Napoleonic History, or the Hundred Years War or something. I believe that they also focus way too much on the U.S during WWI and WWII, and neglect the contributions of many other countries, like that of Poland during WWII. What this comment is essentially saying is that the U.S is just biased in general in education, and they get taught that “The U.S was great and won WWI and WWII all by itself” and all that, instead of looking at every country and seeing what they did.
P.S They also leave out all the coups they conducted to overthrow a democracy in favor of a dictatorial regime that supports the U.S. And they also happen to leave out the ‘imprisoning’ of Japanese-Americans in Internment Camps in WWII. So the U.S is trying to portray itself as the savior of democracy and the preserver of freedom when it’s image has been tarnished over the years but they just leave that out in favor of a perfect but horribly inaccurate U.S.
"I can't afford to be sick" is something I've used so many time as a college student in the United State. Watching this made me realize, it's not like I made myself sick, people get sick but I've been program to stress out over not being sick because I worry about work and school over my health.
Which ironically probably makes you sicker from stress

As an American type 1 diabetic, the panic of keeping an insulin supply is too real...even better when you live several hrs from the nearest endocrinologist. Haven't seen an endo in 3 yrs now. I have to get my refills from my old endo office in another state.
Do they cost something? I have type 1 diabetes in Finland and every supply and appointment ia free because i have cronic illness 🤷♀️
@@lottaee The endo appts don't typically cost money if you have insurance. The problem is living in a rural area with no immediate access to an endo (an ongoing issue in the diabetes community in the USA). My state capital is a 6 hr drive, and I can't just go to another state for appts unfortunately (I live near a state border). The issue is I need to find a new endo to refill my insulin prescriptions to get access. I would have to pay full price ($300 usd) if I don't have a prescription.
That is sad. In germany any doctor you can find can give a prescription for insolin. A dermatologist might send you away but if you say its urgent they would and could do it. With maybe some extra paperwork. I mean what can you do with insolin? Its not a good drug to get high on. Why regulate it like that?
And good luck finding one that takes your insurance.
Dude, that must suck!! How are you even alive? I couldn't imagine having to do that! :O
I get my insulin from any pharmacy and as a Swedish type 1 diabetic, my insulin (and all pumps and all diabetes stuff) is free until I die... And I must see a doctor or something at least once every 3 months to make sure everything is fine. I've choosen to go to the endo office closest to me (obviously lol) and it's a 10 min walk.. Even those offices futher away are not more than an hour drive..
1:16 In US you're free to do what they tell you!
3:16 They HAD TO DO THIS by law. Like literally companies have a deadline in new year for every employee to use their vacation time. And it was 100% paid vacation.
Forced to take a vacation? How awful!
@@monica_zielinski Exactly. You people (yes, I know the connotation of this expression...) have so much freedom you have to be forced to take care of yourself! I live in the UK and when I worked part-time in public libraries (two days a week while studying) I didn't feel the necessity to take annual leave. But my supervisor told me that he HAD to book me leave otherwise it looked like he was trying to work me to death (he was a very chill boss anyway). This helped me realize that no, it is not normal to mistake a trash can lid slamming at school for a gun shot and immediately think “this is what they trained me for, it’s time to run.”
Update: I have experienced a real lockdown since posting this. Legit thought I was going to die.
Trash can lids sound nothing like gunshots. 20yr veteran us army.
Alot of that "training" is our media network.
Though we do have an issue with mass shootings and school shootings it's not at that level my man.
2021 there have been 24 school shootings. This is a horrible amount and needs to be tackled.
However when we look at 137,432 that's a good bit different. That means that 0.0001746318% of schools have even experienced a school shooting.
Note this is just based on the number. For a better probability you would need to also look at the time you spend in school per year.
Ultimately we need to fix the school shooting amd mass shooting issue. But hyperbolic statements such as you posted is indicative to over reaction and little experience.
🏃
@@chiefgully9353 But you miss the constant drilling of the training and fear that anyone at your school, or even some random person, might decide to come in and end your life or the life of your friends just because they decided “he why not”. It’s not something us kids signed up for and we can’t leave because that against the law. Yeah in comparison to all of the schools not a lot of them experience in school shooting every year. But also the threats, the training, the rumors, the fear, Hell me and my brother’s school both had a threat of school shooting in the first two months back at school.
@@jello8178 not gonna say how it is to feel that way as a kid. I grew up in shiy neighborhoods. Drive bys where a constant. So I already know I'm biased by that.
However. I have kids, the school shooter drills are not constant. Like tornado drills they hold em ounce a quarter. As far as fear and rumors, sounds like you went to school with a bunch of people with nothing better to do.
As far as it's illegal to leave. In the U.S. a patent can signe there kid out of school and provide home school in the form of tutoring parent teaching and a bunch of other resources, requirements depend on state, however it is completely legal.
So if fear was such a big thing, alot of people failed.
While I was in school;
I have seen people get jumped
I saw 3 people get shanked
I have had guns pointed at me.
Yet I never feared continuosly. I played attention, I learned to be smart. Get out of an area get to a safe spot know the exits know the cover points.
The issue isn't (we're kids we didn't sign up for this) the issue is the media and the administration seeing that fear hyping it up. While I dont think it's for some dark control thing, I do believe that the schools who drill the shit till it causes fear and panic are doing more harm than good.
The issue remains there is no reason for a kid to be put in a place to fear that way.
Its unneccessary and dumb. How are you suppose to learn properly if the admin of the school is making you think your in a third world.
Honestly I dont think many schools are doing that, nore do I believe the "constant fear" thing is being done by any one.
Like I said I grew up in neighborhoods that where that violent. You typically dont live in constant fear, you get use to it and become more observant.
As far as constant drilling and training. Dude GTFO with that. Try training as infantry then you will know constant training. Spend a year in a country where every one is trying to kill you then you will know fear.
You probably did like 2-4 drills a year. Which consisted of ket under cover stay there for the 15-30 mins then get a head count. Since that's all your expected to do as a kid.
As of October 2021, 470 (of which 240 resulted in zero deaths) fit the Mass Shooting Tracker project criterion, leaving 482 people dead and 1,927 injured, for a total of 2,409 total victims, some including the shooter(s). Alittle Google research ,doesn't hurt anybody, and is more likely to help. Cheers

The fact that America needs to reassure everyone, everyday oh we are free is astonishing.
Also to me somethings are like basic human rights and ethics, seeing Americans surprised at that is actually very sad.

I'm from an African country that is considered a joke but you can go to a hospital and get health care for free. My sister was pregnant last year and needed an emergency C-section and it was free and she didn't even end up dead. You choose whether you want a private hospital or a public hospital. You go private if you can afford it and it's not as expensive as what I've gathered from these videos.

Education is majorly paid for by the government. Our cashiers sit the whole day and don't work all day, they switch. We don't rely on tips, servers are paid salaries. Growing up is realizing how horrible America actually is.
It's difficult to put into words, but the entire time I lived in Germany I felt more comfortable than I ever did here. Not because they have better laws or a constitution, etc, but just the general atmosphere and culture. Little things like you never saw a cop taking radar on the side of the road. People could roam the pedestrian zones in cities at all hours of the night without looking over their shoulder. Things like that. I was travelling earlier in the year and I wound up having a conversation with this middle aged man from the UK. We talked about life, his job, my schooling, family, all sorts of things. At one point we were talking about healthcare systems and food laws. He said that in the UK, because the healthcare is free, the government cares more about the health and food safety laws of packaged foods, fast food restaurants, and overall quality of food because if the citizens are healthy, they won't have to worry as much about people being admitted to the hospital. I don't know if I worded it correctly or not, but I was amazed because it made so much sense to me!

I came from a 3rd world country, one thing American taught me was that the longer you live here, the longer you become depressed, addicted and always untrusting of everyone. Not because of drugs or a one off incident that happened to me, but because of the culture. It’s so materialistic and self centered of a society that sometimes I cry thinking of just going back home where I did not have a lot of money but way always happy surrounded by lots of friends and family I trust. However, I am addicted to the lifestyle now. It’s so hard to let go even when I always feel depressed when I get home and alone at night.
I guess you have to figure out if being depressed, overworked and lonely is a tradeoff you're willing to tolerate.

Just to answer your questions (I'm that kind of person) unless you have a medical reason, you HAVE to stay standing or you will appear "lazy" "in case Boss comes". That's what I was told anyway 🤷♀️ And in the US, they may tell you that a job is "family first" but what they REALLY want is for the workers to be available when THEY want, and it's more important to have the money from extra hours or overtime so you can buy your kid a new outfit or new thing (ANYTHING) without having to worry about not having enough for Bill's 🤦♀️
I did an student exchange with a guy from Dallas. When he was here (Spain), we went to Barcelona using a sort of “long distance” subway, and while we were travelling he was really tense. Was looking around, holding his backpack against his chest. I asked him why he was so nervous and why he was holding his belongings like that. I mean, there are pickpockets everywhere, but it was basically the two of us and 5 other people in the train car. He replied that it was safer to carry the bag like that in case of being shot.
That’s when I realised he was messed up..
17:08 this story reminds me so much of something that happened to me back in college.
I'm Brazilian, but since I speak English, I was scheduled as a translator for a few Americans who were going to lecture at my campus. This one lady was prepping a course, but she had to reschedule it for noon, I said "I'm sorry but you really can't do that, everyone will be having lunch at home", and she said "oh that's okay it's not lab work I don't mind them eating in class", I tried explaining that doesn't work because everything closes down and everyone goes home, buses take a bit longer and Uber is expensive so people wouldn't be there, but she wouldn't budge. She then proceeded to be angry people weren't at the course because "how can they throw away this career opportunity like this?".
I can't say for other parts of the globe but Latin America specifically values family and at home time A LOT, we spend Sundays with family, lunch time is sacred to the point we can skip meals, but skipping lunch is almost a sin. Please respect people's cultures when going to a different country, even if you're in a position of authority.
The woman who said that the biggest lie we're told in America is that we're free hit the nail on the head for me
Sometimes I think I have severe anxiety and then I remember I’m a college student in the us
If you can, do the student exchange programme and go live abroad for up to a year. You usually get a monthly stipend to help with costs, and it's a great experience.
Oh stop the press. You chose to go to college but crying bc of the stress. Brat

Im in California. For 3 years (62-64 years old) I paid $800 a month for crappy healthcare insurance. I still paid $75-100 for doctor visits and $25-40 for medications. I had a urinary tract infection. After 3-4 visits and no solution I had a more invasive test. The test took 1.5 minutes to do. It cost me $1000. All said I ended up paying about $1500 and they never found the problem. I had to keep contacting them as after each visit they never once followed up. They simply did not care. Thank goodness it went away on its own eventually.
Oh don't I know. I got sent to 3 different doctors for the same thing. It's all about making money. I had a test done and the doctor said come back next month and we'll do it again. After my test said everything was ok. I didn't go back. I was in really bad pain and was in the hospital for 3 days. The doctors did nothing for me and one doctor said You think if you ate better you would feel good. WHAT? And don't get me started on the rip-off health insurance.
What?? $800 a MONTH?? Holy💩

Good idea but go to a place outside the protection of the US, that's where you will have the best life, which does not include all the places these people live in.

As a young American growing up in the USA rn I’m terrified. It’s scary and while my county in my state is very nice and people are sweet I still look around me to make sure nobody has a gun on them or I’m in no immediate danger. I also tend to steer clear of men when I’m in grocery stores or basically anywhere, I get bad vibes easily. When I went back to in person classes in late 2020 I didn’t say the pledge because I don’t believe in that anymore. Also my parents are heavy capitalist supporters. My dad has his own business they also both voted for trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Me and my sister couldn’t be any different than them. I love my parents I do but… I just don’t feel safe anymore… and I feel scared to even voice that bc they’ll be like, “But we love you and have never hurt you.” Yeah well that’s hard to acknowledge when you voted for a man who told his supporters back in 2016 to “Grab them by the p****”
It’s hard to believe that when I say I want to get the COVID vaccine and you tell me that people have lost their fertility Bc of it etc etc…
It’s hard to believe that you support the LGBTQ+ community and yet I still feel unsafe voicing my sexuality and gender expression…
It’s hard to believe when I say BLM and you tell me they’re rioters… it’s so exhausting… I’m sorry this was very long and all over the place…
Much love, Kiara/Kieran
Hey, K,
I'm sorry you're dealing with so much right now. It sounds like quite the burden.
I do hope you and your sister can find your way somewhere that will embrace you both and accept the real you soon, but in the meantime - if you can - keep talking to each other and supporting each other.
You got this.
You might not believe me but parents change overtime.
My parents went from the typical Asian parenting style. I got the belt, slippers, hot miso soup thrown at my face, flying chopsticks to my face, you name it. I would even get locked out of my own house for a night just because I didn’t do something or got a “bad grade”... At one point I recall my father seeing two gays, who where probably couples, and he said “I just don’t understand, pu*** is great” at the time I was questioning. So I remember feeling scared to tell my father for the longest time I was gay.
I had came out to him last year, I was terrified of what his reaction would be.
He said “okay... doesn’t change the fact that you’re my son.... and the fact that I love you”
I was shocked at his reaction.
Keep in mind that I had condensed my parental history. This took a span of 10-13 yrs.
Trump didn't say that in 2016. He said it in 2005 bragging to an entertainment reporter and the microphone were still recording. Not saying what he said was right, only that it didn't happen in 2016. That is when the video was leaked.
I understand you don't feel safe, sometimes the world isn't safe. If you feel you have anxiety, you should speak to your doctor.
Hi, if you are able to go to college (or if you're already there) do think about doing a student exchange programme in another country for at least a year. I'd recommend the UK, France or Germany, or Scandinavia, or literally any country that has a good social welfare system (especially healthcare) and no gun culture, because it sounds like you need a break. I'm from the North of England, and when I tell you that you can basically strike up a conversation with almost anyone anywhere-- we really are that friendly!
Yeah, I haven't had the pleasure of living abroad yet, but I did almost hit the floor when some kid's balloon popped in the store I worked in. This was probably two years after a man snuck onto my parents property with the intention of killing my mother and kidnapping his ex-wife who was staying with us at least, and his manifesto basically said that he expected there to be additional casualties. I can hardly wait to move abroad, it's only been my dream since I was 12.
I’m so sorry. I hope it happens for you soon ❤️
Don't worry, soon it wont longer be a dream. Have you decided on where you would like to live?
For now, my best friend moved to South America, so that's what I plan to do.

Being able to live travel across the world "for cheap" instead of staying at home is, to an extent, an American privilege.
People these days are so aware about USA and its people and customs that they have a general idea about even the subtler details about how people behave. This makes it easier for Americans to get along with foreigners and get understood better.
Not an advantage people from other countries. You cannot just behave like yourself and be understood, you need to blend into the foreign culture a lot more.
I'm so happy they are all doing well in other countries 💕

I have one!
I'm not from the US, but my little cousin is, he's been coming over to visit since he was two, so he's used to it. His girlfriend, however, was not. Here in Brasil we have free health care for everyone, even foreigners, yes. So, girlie broke her little toe and couldn't even touch the ground with her foot, as I was the only one that hadn't had alcohol (we also have a dry law for driving), I told them to get into my car that I would put on some sneakers and take them to the hospital (we also can't drive with open shoes, like flipflops).
Girlie tried to protest, but not being able to walk, nobody bat an eye. We get there, she gets admitted, and the medical team does their thing. My aunt, who was the one responsible for them, signed her off, and she was panicking, saying she would call her mom and have the money transferred asap, that she was so sorry we had to spend so much and whatnot. I just said something on the lines of "I must have spent like twenty bucks for the gas, what are you talking about? Just get me some ice cream and we're cool".
Took us all a while to understand she was referring to hospital fees, as they did blood tests, x-rays, she got seen by two different doctors and was given the medication she would need as well.....
There are places in the US where if you share you water with your neighbor who had theirs shut off because they couldn’t pay their bill; they will shut of that person’s water too and fine them as well.
Yeah ... "American legend" is overrated - no questions about that !

21:17. I applied a little arithmetic. she's working 100 hours a week. there's 168 hours a week. that means she only has about nine or ten hours a day for family, relaxation, errands, sleep, self care, etc.
Good glory 😶
The one about Etiopia broke me ahahahahahah
I live and gave birth in italy as well and I can tell you that I didn't even pay the 40 euros to meet with the anesthesiologist like 8:44 did.
My mom flew in from NY for the birth of my first son. I ended up losing a lot of blood and had to stay in the hospital 2 extra days as they gave me iron through an IV to keep my energy up while my body naturally replaced my blood. My mom was freaking out wondering how much everything would cost because giving birth in expensive enough in America, let alone having to stay 2 extra days, be administered iron through an IV and have your blood drawn twice a day (to monitor how quickly your body is replenishing your blood because you might need a transfusion if it's going to slowly). Anyway, when we were finally discharged we just walked out of the hospital. My mom was dumbfounded, she was like "but where do you pay"? I had to remind my mother that it was all covered under the universal healthcare system.
Another time, my family went on a trip to Barcelona for Easter vacation. We took a ferry there and back. The day after my daughter started violently vomiting. We tried to give her the regular medication to stop her vomiting and to replace her electrolytes but she couldn't keep it down. After 12 hours we finally took her to the hospital. We decided to go to the local children's hospital, which happened to be one of the best children's hospitals in Europe.
We took her to the emergency room since the day hospital was closed by that time. They examined her and immediately decided to keep her overnight in the ER. She ended up staying there two days but was still vomiting so they transferred her to the department of infectious diseases on the second day. She had her own room complete with private bathroom, hospital crib, and this kind of double entrance where the doctors can disinfect themselves before entering. She stayed there for 5 more days. She had an IV for almost the entire time to keep her from vomiting.
Even with all of that, the only thing I paid for was MY HOSPITAL MEALS because I couldn't leave my daughter in the room by herself for me to go out and get my own meals. It cost me 6 euros and 50 cents a day FOR THREE FULL MEALS INCLUDING DRINKS. That is unheard of in the US.
Watching these has made me further appreciate the very luxurious life I have in Trinidad and Tobago. I mean a huge bit of our uproar is cuz ppl have no appreciation and cuz is a whole lot of mouth action and bad mind.

School shooting, my school this year alone we had 4 kids bring actual guns to school, and they all got different types of felonys. But I just realized how much I'm desensitized from the situation of school shooting because we've been dealing with this since I was in elementary.
First gun I saw was in 6th, math class
@@Boogerdick69 same my friend had a gun in his backpack that he was showing us. But we kept it a secret because we didn't want to get him in trouble. I think that was like 5th or 6th grade. We were still in elementary.
I was a bit dumbstruck with the one about the drinking limit when driving in Ireland. And yes, apparantly they do have a drinking limit.. Like the rest of europe does.
Yes, we definitely take drink driving seriously over here in Ireland.
We've worked hard over the years to encourage people travelling to pubs to pick a "designated driver", who then stays sober. Regular groups will take turns.
Pubs often give free soft drinks to the "Dessie", too.
I was at a friend’s house who was having a small family gathering. It was during an election and the topic moved to the different candidates. My friend stated that he was going to vote for Bernie Sanders. The entire room of people gasped and made statements like “Don’t you know that he’s a radical and a communist?!” “He’s crazy, he’s going to destroy the country!”. We calmly tried to explain that we supported important topics on his platform like making it illegal for private companies to fund campaigns or “donate” to politicians, raising the minimum wage to a living wage, universal healthcare, sensible gun control, more work and life balance, reforming core practices in police forces towards racial justice and deescalation, etc. They scoffed and said that our ideas were frivolous and dangerous because we would end up a “third world” country.
And the biggest irony was that all these people that were questioning us were all die hard Trump supporters who ended up helping to vote him into the presidency. As a Latin American woman who grew up without wealth and lives with a mental and physical disability, this country is a nightmare I’ve been trying to escape for years. So I moved to the US as a kid. I remember at school abroad we had snack time AND recess at the same time. So, now I am 30 something and after being in the US for 20+ years I asked my mom, “how come I don’t remember the school cafeteria, but everything else?” And she laughed and said, “don’t you remember? School was over at 1. You guys would go home to eat your lunch. All the stores shut down too, so you ate lunch with your dad and I every single day of the week.” And it hit me. At my age, I am still super attached to my parents and my siblings. We go to each other’s sporting events, yes even the married ones, we text daily, and family is our number one priority. I can almost pin it on the fact that we ate together three times DAILY all our childhood with our parents and each other!

It's sad to be honest, I saw that lady talk about Grenada and watching this just shows me how Americanised my country Trinidad is getting or even is because of the lie some of the Caribbean believe that America is the best country, so maternity leave is 6 weeks before and 6 weeks after I think you get like an extra month or so for breastfeeding, lunch 30 minutes or 1 hrs some work places don't give lunch and if can you stuff down a sandwich within 5 minutes then you're lucky, everything is getting more and more serious and gun violence is getting out of control. So did you get away from AMERICA??
About the first response.
One thing that always perplexed me is how people from US talks about how their people fought for their freedom, patriotism etc. with so much passion, like other countries’ people haven’t done the same.
Guys, America was colonized in 1492, other countries have gone through literally thousands of years of wars, revolutions, inquisition, plagues, etc. more than americans.
These countries’ people have fought proudly for their rights and their freedom too, yet there’s this, curious to say the least, exaggerated proudness in the US.
It’s good to be proud of one’s history, but it’s good to have a broader perspective.
I need to move to Portugal
75% of US does not have a passport.
This is a real eye opener, I can’t believe Americans have these attitudes! The woman at 3:06 saying “this one time they tricked me into not using the N-word in public” 😂
A bit of the opposite here, I had to explain to my aunt and cousin who both just immigrated from the Philippines that there is a "workaholic" culture in the USA.
Sure enough a month later, my cousin told me how weird it was that most of the conversations at school was about having X amount of jobs and no free time but in a casual, "oh thats great" kind of tone, and my aunt was mortified that her job wanted her to work through Christmas. Her boss even rude about it by calling her "selfish" when she simply asked about having the holidays off.
They also experienced first hand how cold and paranoid people are over here. Though where we live, it is unfortunately not entirely without reason, but it was still a complete opposite of what it was like for them back in the PI and around our family here.
I may have been born and raised in the USA but even I can see there is a lot that could and can be improved upon. But honestly, it so politically and socially entrenched over here that I highly doubt any meaningful change like we have seen in the previous decades is possible. Only more shouting matches and violence.
In a third world country, I don't have to lose my house if I lose my job.
