Great work Lee! I have to say, if Fuji find it in themselves to make an X-Pro4 with that autotracking, improved ISO and Nostalgic Negative it'll be a solid buy for me. I love the 'Stephen Shore' look of Nostalgic Negative. The X-H2s looks a bit of a beast but good lord, forty-frames a second? I can barely handle the editing workload of shooting bursts of 3fps.
At 40fps you can hold the trigger down for like 10-15sec before it slows to 10-8fps. At 30-20fps you pretty much have an endless buffer. Especially 20fps. I held it down for over 1min and it never outran the buffer. It’s crazy. Need the cf express card for that though
I'd love to get my hands on one of these for a couple of days. Currently rocking the X-S10 and I'm very pleased with it. If the X-H2S is as good as everyone says, then I can wait to be blown away
There's nothing like FUJI colour profiles! Nice work. Great model and poses! There's a huge difference between the colours of the main camera on the right and the FUJI on the left.
I really dig how you actually use the cameras in real life situations instead of reading spec sheets. Don’t they know we’ve already read the spec sheets that’s why we’re here… lmao
I am interested to hear your opinion on the autofocus when it is finally completed. It’s important to note that the video and stills use different software. Maybe the latter is closer to completion. I am looking forward to the tech slowly trickling down Fuji hierarchy. I expected that the T5 and xPro4 will be launched before next spring.
“So nice… camera” 🤣 Lovely photoshoot man! You must be like the most pleasant photographer to work with as a model. Always a keen eye for compositions, and good vibes.
It's hard to tell on youtube, but the 18-120mm lens looks way sharper than most fuji zoom lenses (e.g. 18-55 or 10-24mm). It looks almost as sharp as the new 18/23/33mm f1.4 lenses. Can you confirm?
Lee, one of the best, most-informative videos on the new camera and lens I have seen yet. Might I ask which CF Express Type-B card you finally received and what you thought of it?
I think just like when X-T4 first came out, Fujifilm made so much big deal on its video capabilities, but AF for video turned out hit or miss. But at the same time, on photography side, it did so much better than its predecessor.
please clarify. Fuji x-t3 itself has an exposure bar on the left on the screen. usually there are 3 stops. from minus 3 to plus 3. but sometimes I see some up to minus 5 and plus 5. what does it depend on? And tell me pls. Why do you need to use both a mechanical and an electronic shutter in a camera? why not just electronic? tell pliz
Noticed even when down low, you didn't take the time to flip the screen out which maybe confirms for me why I hate fully articulating screen when using for photos especially during photo shoot where I am constantly changing it up but can deploy and put back rather fast with X-T3 screen. Glad to see the AF is that much improved though. Will be curious to see how other Fujifilm lenses work on it. 18-120 lens seems like the ultimate for flexible shooting too.
I did a shoot today with the same camera and lens combo (well I had a few lenses but the 18-55 was one of them) and agree with pretty much all you said here. I am finding the AF on video slightly less reliable but I am NOT a videographer so that could be my skill level as much as the camera. But the camera is a street ahead of my Xt3 which I also used today. Nice video
Hi lee great video. May I ask you a question? How does the raven lee from Dji works for recording the camera screen ? I’m looking for a way how to record my Fuji screen. Does it record internally automatically or do I need any other accessories for it ? Your help would be much appreciated

I don't use the a6400 anymore other than for a b-roll type thing). I'm seriously considering the XH2s for action, portrait, bird, and the like. I've shot bird with my XT4 on burst mode with 50-140mm and 1.4x TC and definitely have gotten some great pics on burst on XT4 but as we know there is blackout, and the burst is limited. if you use ES burst on XT4 on action might get banding or warping. How close is the XH2s w/ the Nikon Z9 ES ??

Thanks for the great video! I'm debating the X-H2 or X-H2s, strictly for photography. Do you feel the AF and low-light performance is noticeably better than the X-H2 (40MP)?

The lack of a shutter speed dial puts a hard stop on me getting this camera. I don’t necessarily need ISO on the top, but I do need that shutter dial rather than hoping I have it dialed in on a preset. Wait is there a front assignable dial on it?
Yeah you use the front or rear dials which ever you want for shutter speed. It’s pretty common on every camera. It’s just that Fuji has always done the vintage film camera dial for shutter ontop until the xs10 where it’s more like this
Fuji has a weird thing where they lag out the screen to save battery if it’s been sitting for a few mins. Could just be a normal thing you didn’t know about Fuji. It’s weird the first time you see it but it happens on all Fuji cameras when you aren’t recording or taking photos
Very cool video and I love how the photos turned out. Is this done using Classic Negative? It looks like it with the NC symbol but you said it was Nostalgic Negative
Great job as alway!! During your initial review, you mentioned and showed that AF missed time to time but this photography review shows that it actually has a pretty good AF. So... would you say its AF for photography has improved but not much for video?
Seems that way. The other thing that is kind of annoying is that Fuji sends these cameras out to us as beta firmware and it’s tough to make definitive statements on things since they could change in the final release. But from what I’m seeing the subject tracking and eye af is very much improved
The subject to camera distance does not even change and there is only a single aubject. Good auto focus means tracking something moving towards or away from the camera in a more complex situation. As an example, an xt4 can easily do this type of shot, but if you try to shoot a model walking fast on a runway with other models on the back, or a dog running towards you, it will be 50% or even 80% misses. An a7iv is 0% misses in the same tests. This is what good autofocus is. I use xt4 bodies because I do not do this sort of thing, and I plan my focus even in sports, in stills and video, but some people need good autofocus performance. I would say 98% of professional photography does not even require tracking and about 80% does not even require single actuation autofocus as an starting point. Any slow medium format body will do professional photography just fine. The autofocus issue is mostly an issue for amateur wedding photographers, vloggers, tourists, youtubers who present products and work with single camera setups and alone, soccer moms, etc.
I love to take pictures of my Akita Inu. My Fujifilm XT-4 takes wonderful pictures when my dog sits still . But as soon i try to take pictures of him running towards me, the mediocre autofocus system gives me 30% usable pictures and the rest is garbage. I love the camera, i love the control’s and feel but think i could use the subject tracking of Sony.
Thanks for doing this, looks promising. But seriously for $2500!? People buying it are probably already be in the Fuji eco system or prefer ApSc size lenses, otherwise you can get a Canon R6 or a Sony FF.
For the camera alone you're right. But RF lenses are WAY more expensive than Fuji lenses. And because of the stacked sensor and the speed you have to compare it to a higher end Canon or Sony full frame camera.
Yeah the ninjaV quality is way better also annoying to have on top of a camera when taking photos. Raven eye is sending wifi signal back to my phone and I record it on there
I prefer Sony for video. But they are very different in price . A7siii is way more $ and you will have to buy new lenses for it. If you have the money go for it other wise stick with your Fuji glass and get an xh2s
No I don’t. I was using the default custom settings. It’s like a multi purpose setting. Most of the custom settings are the same. Some are just slightly better at faster moving subjects
Maybe supply chain. They can space it out easier. If the xh2 is anything like the xh2s for speed but with double the resolution it’s gonna be a monster
@@LeeZavitz that's fair. Hope we don't have to wait 6 months for an announcement. Since I am pretty sure it will share the same body and most of the specs aside from sensor resolving 40 mp, not having a stacked sensor, and probably speed. I want to upgrade my XT3 to the XH2. Unless the XT5 is also announced at the same time as the XH2...
It’s not all haters. I’m in the market for a high-end APS-C camera as my A6600 is just too old. On paper the XH2s looks awesome. However, the reviews are pretty mixed on stabilization and AF. Some reviews say it’s the greatest camera ever, others say that the AF and stabilization are not up to scratch. This has given me some pause. I hope that with a few firmware releases things get better so I can dive in to that Fuji color rendition and amazing DR.
I played around with the X-H2s in my local camera store (Fuji brought it in for a demo the day after the X-Summit). I agree with Lee that the photo AF is crazy good. However, I put my 56 f1.2 on as well because the AF on that lens is really bad (though it's a killer lens!). It doesn't perform nearly as well as the new linear motor lenses, but that's to be expected. That being said, it was a bit better than when I have it on the XT-4. However, Fuji is releasing an updated MKII version of the 56 f1.2 later this year which I assume will have linear motor and all the latest and greatest tech - that's a must-buy for me as AF is the only downside to 56.
I had to send the camera back last week. When I get a final version of the camera in a couple months I will revisit lowlight and studio stuff. I can’t edit any raw photos so it’s all jpg right now
The video shows you shooting in Classic Negative (NC), but then you labeled the pics “Nostalgic Negative”. Not sure they even offer Nostalgic Negative on XH2S.
Bro, good informative content as always 🙏. But one honest thing thought to say - This video looks very gloomy inspite of day light, i dont know why. Day time is looking like late evening time and looks dark. Faced difficulty in viewing this video , eyes felt blury.
@@aestheticsabotage5098 Thats not completely unreasonable - i got the Fuji xt-3 , after shooting Nikon for years - and i simply LUW Fuji - the glass , the updates - the "feeling" and the film sims ! Fuji ! : -)
@@MikkelGrumBovin haha, I switched from Nikon after 4 years with Nikon to Fuji x-h1, then x-pro2, and finally consolidated my setup to two x-t4s. Unfortunately, x-h2s doesn’t bring enough innovation for me to make me even think about it. The jelly effect in its video stabilization seems to be an inherited issue from the x-t4. Other than that, I like what Fuji is doing. They just need to step up their autofocus and IBIS game.

I had to send the camera back last week. When I get a final version of the camera in a couple months I will revisit lowlight and studio stuff. I can’t edit any raw photos so it’s all jpg right now
Сool shots bro
Hey, buddy, I'm following you from Iraq. I hope you can recommend me on a price-appropriate camera.
The video shows you shooting in Classic Negative (NC), but then you labeled the pics “Nostalgic Negative”. Not sure they even offer Nostalgic Negative on XH2S.
Nostalgic Negative is definitely in the XH2S. Seen it in the film sim menu.
Dang I did write nostalgic negative. I wish I caught that before uploading. The camera has it but you are right I was in classic negative
@@LeeZavitz the only way to make it right is to give us another video where you use Nostalgic Negative sim for some portraits. 😁
Sometimes I wonder how many of these models are just being nice when the photographers geek out over a spec lol
She’s into photography. But sometimes I also wonder too haha. Maybe they just feeding off my excitement on a new camera
Bro, good informative content as always 🙏. But one honest thing thought to say - This video looks very gloomy inspite of day light, i dont know why. Day time is looking like late evening time and looks dark. Faced difficulty in viewing this video , eyes felt blury.
It’s a vibe. We shot around 5-6pm
@@LeeZavitz Oh Okay. Thanks for sharing and Sorry bro , i am poor in understanding photography 🙏🙏
@@LeeZavitz what vibe? You mean your own custom settings or edit?
Great video. I wish you would have used a different lens, though!
Its a brand new lens. I wanted to try it out
@@LeeZavitz I get it. I appreciate the review. Please review the 40mp version of the camera when it is released in September if you have time!
Excellent work , as usual Lee,- Price - price - price !? ;-)
2500 for the body
@@aestheticsabotage5098 i 100 % agree - for one - im perfectly happy with my xt3 , flying an old H1 gimbal - , no jello wobble - and im a musician , photography is just a hobby , (besides a couple of cheesecake musicvideos - , and i use my old OG BMPCC for video anyway)
is there a Mac studio in the back ;)?
Yeah I’ve had it for a month. It rips. M1 ultra
@@LeeZavitz I can imagine. I am waiting to m2 to have pro version ( Mac mini pro m2 perhaps) to replace Mac mini m1 :)
Better than iphone 13 pro ?
I can’t browse tiktok or order pizza from the xh2s so the iPhone is better
Eye autofocus on par with competetiors. I hope it is true, but I doubt it
Have you held one?
If it is not on par, buy FF and leave us alone.
It’s pretty solid. At least I was able to trust it on this shoot. Normally I cant with Fuji cameras
@@LeeZavitz Sorry, my bad. I heard it is solid on photography, but video is where it lags behind the competitors.
@@de-graftasafo-adjei4646 Who is us?
If it can't focus at f4 in bright sun then nothing can. Fujirumors will love this.
You’re not wrong. But. I always had issues with eye af even in the same scenarios to where I didn’t even want to use eye af because it’s not that reliable on xt3/4 cams
I am a wedding photographer, i have an xt3, i am consider buying this one or gfx50s ii. can you please help me to decide
You will have a more enjoyable time shooting with xh2s over the gfx50sii. Plus you have to buy all new lenses for the gfx
Oh no, large early 80’s glasses are back. Not for me!
I styled this 70s look
All of your reviews seem to be the same. Get product, take some shots, and final thought: “it’s all amazing”. No critical thought, just hype.
There’s not much to dislike. If I find it I talk about it. Everything coming out since 2018 has been so good it’s hard to really complain
My apologies for sounding critical earlier. Thank you for your response.
Dude is so bland
Thanks man
Largely disappointed by images
What were you expecting?
@@LeeZavitz not directed toward you! Love your channel. Every video I’ve seen the images look clinical, digitally sharp, not great rolloff, and a green or yellow tint like older Sonys. I guess I expected an image like the a7s3 or r5c with maybe better highlight rolloff.
Nice Video, great work 😊 can you tell me which recorder you used to record it?
