    My father had the pleasure of seeing Little Richard, Johnny Cash, & Jerry Lee Lewis in the early 70's. He said it was an absolute blast. Side note: He also did security for Liberace once who kissed him on the cheek and winked at him. 😅 To this day, he still says, "He was the cutest man." My father was a roadie for a lot of incredible acts back in the day so I get my love of music from him. Can't wait to see this doc. TY.

      @Zee Pickens if you dig The New York Dolls and that whole Chelsea/warhol/punk/nyc scene check out lead singer David Johansen's Personality Crisis: One Night Only on showtime. It was a fun doc about him crooning some old Dolls songs along with some flashbacks and interviews of all his adventures during that time period. Also I believe there's a Sly & The Family Stone doc in the works as well who I absolutely loved. I was born 2 decades too late to enjoy all this first hand.

    You guys have to watch the old Little Richard TV movie with the actor Leon , he plays Little Richard. I read his book years ago and it gave a lot of information on his life.

      I couldn't even get through that movie. Leon was not a good Little Richard. He was NOT flamboyant enough. That movie was TOO censored for me!!

      @tamikawoods2236 Рік тому +1

      @GoreJust Goth I mean it was a ABC network miniseries in the 90s things were much more censored then.

    I am with you guys. I would have liked TO SEE HIS GAY LOVERS AND HEAR ABOUT HIS REAL LIFE! I wanted that and didn't get that from this film at all. I feel like another documentary and film showing this beautiful man in all his queerdom.

    I wonder if Nick's memory is as good in all areas of his life as it is with films. It's crazy to me he can name the last year he and Joseph saw a movie, as well as at what theater. 📽🍿🍫🥤🎫

    This was a very good review. My mom grew up in little Richards time, and as a child of the 80s, I remember him always talking about how under appreciated he was. Back then he was annoying, but listening to your review, I now get it. I will definitely have to check this out.

    Yes! Sir Lady Java was/is a legendary performer "formerly referred to as a female impersonator" with a spicy history of her own with celebrities in the night club scene back in the day. I think she always identified as a trans woman or GNC. Halie Sahar (who played the character Lulu in Pose) is slated to play Sir Lady Java in an upcoming biopic. Would love for you guys to review it once it's released. Keep up the GREAT work! Your passion, knowledge and respect for cinema ALWAYS shines through in every video.

    I haven't seen the movie yet, but you guys confirmed what I suspected. I would like a film that would break down how he created his music, his influences, how he put those elements together. I saw him on tv quite a lot in the 90's and 00's and I loved when it was just him at the piano, playing his songs. People may have thought because of his tv persona that he wasn't a real musician, but that man could play! At the end of his life, he gave it up, IMO, because he couldn't do it no more. His last live performance is on You Tube, and he really can't sing like he had when he was younger. He was in a wheelchair, and he just didn't have the strength to sing those songs the way they needed to be sung. He may have felt conflicted about singing that music, but several times later in life he said "rock and roll is my living, but God is my life style".

    *Thanks so much for a great review, I LOVE💕LITTLE RICHARD on so many levels!!!!! I interviewed an old R&B artist who had a career and bio similar to Little Richard's. Some of the stories that the artist would tell me would completely break the musician down. The music 🎶 business is a **#BEAST**👹!!!!! Likewise, I agree with the two of you, I would have loved for the director to have gone deeper and wider about Little Richard.* 🎬

    Shame there wasn't any audio of little richard speaking in the 1950s, would be interesting to see his take on things during the height of things and not just the retrospective approach we get in the doc

    This is like a "believe or not" episode, but Little Richard will never cross my mind, if not for your review! Yet his rendition of Lucille is an oldie tune I do like! It has this 'cheeky fun' pleading love thing to a catchy hook! One of those one of a kind individuals that's hard to figure out but fascinating nevertheless😊

    I never realised that Little Richard was gay and performed in drag, nor did I know that the music industry screwed him out of money. I did know about his father being shot. Although this documentary may not be as in-depth or profound as I would like, I'll still watch it. Thank you for another excellent review.

    Little Richard, I knew very well… He was very very gay acting, and although he did play with that side a lot as he got much much older in his ears, he went to the Lord and denied the behavior he had in the beginnings in showing openly gay behavior. There was nothing wrong with it. It’s just he came back and became a religious man and there’s nothing wrong with that on either side of the gay world or the straight world. The thing that mattered was what made him happy.

    I think the documentary skits from 1955 from 1965 so that’s why it’s confusing you and the reason why he was going to England back in the 70s old fit because it was hot England for like years I like your shell Dave I’m
