Got my Mag 1000 today. I have 3 sets of blades, they were sharpened and balanced with the cone table top type balancer. Although it gets them close and after all it's all I've ever used I think in the long wrong it has helped my mower deck spindles (along with greasing them) I have never replaced a mower deck spindle. I'm very happy with my purchase. So I've re balanced all 9 blades plus 3 old junk blades, Anyway the Mag 1000 works and works Great! I would recommend it and I would recommend to stay away from the Chinese "knock offs" I've tried two of them and they were both junk. Even though the Mag 1000 is more expensive, You get what you pay for.

Hey Mitchell, I enjoyed your video. One thing I wanted to point out is you mentioned to always wear PPE at 6:41. Thats Awesome! You were great on the first grinding operation, but then failed to wear eye protection for the rest of the grinding after that starting at 8:19. By the way, I will probably be purchasing that balancer. Thanks for your video!

Your outer edge is the most important because that is the edges that intersect with the other blade. I sharpen multiple blades, wide and narrow. I have the balancer that has the six mags on it. Took 4 off and it works like a charm. The mag on that sharpener is to wide for the smaller blades.

I tried the nail trick and realized quickly that it doesn't work! I upgraded to the cone style on the base and that didn't work real great either. I now have an oregon balancer like yours and it works great!

Amazon wants $220 plus tax for a Mag1000. The cost of my blade brand new is $12, so I can just replace my blade with a brand new one 18 times and have some pocket change left over for the price of a little blade balancer.

I guess it's a matter of perspective, I'm just a home owner, not a pro, my mower uses 3 blades at $22 each. I find they need to be sharpened or replaced 1-2 times a season at least. It does add up pretty quickly to just replace and discard....for me anyhow.

    • @mithgo_outdoor

@@johndeaux9987 homeowners that have started using my service have found they aren’t buying new blades anymore. Under normal operating conditions and proper maintenance my service extends the life of the blade. There’s a lot of life in mower blades if properly maintained. I start out with a balance then i count passes, after the passes i balance again as i go along.
