I'm about to purchase this product, but I want to ensure its able to work outdoors in my patio for my cold plunge. It appears to only have a 6 ft power cord that may not be ready for outdoors. So I would additionally need an outdoor extension cord to reach my outlet plus probably a Extension Cord Cover to make sure its fine. Can you recommend a setup for this? Most manufacturers recommend that chest freezers not be plugged into an extension cord. While some people do use shorter extension cords, 40' is aignificant. There are many variables affecting this. Key is which sanitizer you are using. With ozone, we have people keeping their water clean for 6 to 18 months.
Hi John! I have the exact same setup as you but after six weeks the water is cloudy and the filter was brown. Any idea what is wrong? I have the same ozone as you as well. Also, I rinsed the filter but is it still ok to use again? Thank you so much!!
Hi, I bought the pump off Amazon, but the power supply is 120V 60 Hz and 0.38 amp. The power supply in UAE is 220V 50 Hz. I bought a voltage converter (200 Watt) so I can step down the voltage to 110/120. However, the frequency is now 50 Hz instead of 60 Hz so I presume the pump will operate 20% lower. Will this work OK or will the pump get damaged?
There are a number of questions that would need to be answered in order to figure out what is going on. It is very unlikely that using a filter by itself would cause dry skin. What are you using for sanitation? Did you start with fresh water? How Long if you been using the filter? How long is it been since you change the filter?
Great video. Just purchased your book (excellent). Im slightly confused. Do you use this pump/filter to move the water around or do you need an ozone thing as well for that?
Thanks! Pumps circulate /move the water. Ozone sanitizes/kills microbes. Look for the other three videos that give additional info about how to keep your water clean.
The blue sleeves are not polishing filters. Along with the charcoal, they are made for aquariums with living animals. When the correct sanitation method is used (see my other videos on this channel), a polishing filter is needed. And that is the white pleated filter. However, they are becoming harder to find and going out of stock frequently. See this article for more info: ChestFreezerColdPlunge.com/MarineLand
Hey John, is the filter meant to be going non stop? As mine comes on for about 30 seconds and then goes off for 30 seconds.. curious as to if this isn’t working properly, or if that’s normal?
The pump is meant to run nonstop. If it is coming off and on something is wrong. What pump are you using and what part of the world do you live in? If you have a 120v pump and used an adapter to fit it into a 240v outlet, that will kill the pump. If it is a 120v pump on a 120v outlet or a 240v pump on a 240v outlet, then it is likely defective - send it back for an exchange.
Preciate the video John. My MarineLand stopped pumping water so I went through your cleaning steps - there was indeed a ton of hair wrapped around the impeller. After cleaning everything unfortunately the motor still isn't running at all. Are there pump alternatives you recommend?
Hi Matthew, Sorry about the delay in getting back with you I'm just now getting this notification from UA-cam. Here is what I recommend as much more robust alternative to the Marine land pump and filter: chestfreezercoldplunge.com/product/diy-pump-and-filter/
That pump is not strong enough to work with an ozone generator that needs a venturi injector. You can use a JED 303 ozone generator, which has a built-in air pump, which means it is self-contained and does not need to be plumbed in. You still need a pump and filter to circulate your water and remove sediment. I'm a reseller for the JED 303 ozone generators. Here is a link: chestfreezercoldplunge.com/product/jed303/ For more info on the MarineLand (and an alternative), see this link: ChestFreezerColdPlunge.com/MarineLand
Some run the pump 24/7 (except when they are in the water, in which case it is unplugged. Others run their pump on a timer for 6 - 8 hours a day. Play around with it and find what works best for you.
I purchased a MarineLand Pump & Filter and it didnt work as the plug was made for the US. I got an adapter and that didnt work. It went on and off. Then I got a 100-watt step down transformer and it started smoking and my MarineLand Pump & Filter has totally broken :-(
Sorry to hear that happened. Yes, plugging a 120v device into a 240v outlet will fry it. Better to build a DIY version with a local pump. chestfreezercoldplunge.com/product/diy-pump-and-filter/

John…is there a downside to using the blue polishing sleeves and/or the charcoal ? Seems like they’d prolong the life of the almost extinct filter…
See this article for more info:

Thanks!
@@thanks4that261 you're welcome!

Hey I am having the same issue here in Australia. The pump does not run 24/7 and my water is not looking clean at all 😢
@@Dirtyfiat Are you using a pump that is designed for 240 V outlets?
@terrysilver-th4nd an adapter will not work. You need a 100-watt step down transformer
Is anyone else having a hard time getting the suction cups to stay? Any solutions?
Yes, that is common problem. See my post here for solutions:

Does it matter if the pump isn’t mounted vertically?
I use two side Velcro
Preciate the video John. My MarineLand stopped pumping water so I went through your cleaning steps - there was indeed a ton of hair wrapped around the impeller. After cleaning everything unfortunately the motor still isn't running at all. Are there pump alternatives you recommend?
Hi Matthew,
Sorry about the delay in getting back with you I'm just now getting this notification from UA-cam.
Here is what I recommend as much more robust alternative to the Marine land pump and filter:

Can you add ozone to this pump?
That pump is not strong enough to work with an ozone generator that needs a venturi injector.
You can use a JED 303 ozone generator, which has a built-in air pump, which means it is self-contained and does not need to be plumbed in.
You still need a pump and filter to circulate your water and remove sediment.
I'm a reseller for the JED 303 ozone generators. Here is a link:

how long has the pump to be running daily?

Why would t you want charcoal to clean odor and water impurities?
The charcoal is meant for aquariums with animals living in them. I don't recommend adding animals to your cold plunge. ;)
See my other videos for recommended sanitation options.
I had the same question : is there a downside to using the blue polishing sleeves and/or the charcoal ? Seems like they’d prolong the life of the almost extinct filter…
Great video. Difficult to listen to due to poor audio quality.
Thanks for your feedback. The low quality audio is on the beginning and end where I'm in my garage standing in front of the chest freezer. The rest of the audio - actually explaining details was shot in a quiet environment. One day I'll invest in higher quality equipment or software to remove noise. It's not in the budget right now.
