  • So far this has been the biggest musical project I have ever done. It took me many days of work, organization, promoting the proposal, talking to people, etc. I started planning it around late September of 2023 and now I'm giving the results in July of 2024. It has been a headache, but totally worth it, because I will always remember it.
    This is only the beginning, as I will organize bigger projects in the upcoming years. Stay tunned!
    I'm proud to present you a sample of the finalists that made it into the official collaborative set of compositions. Congratulations to Nikita Shestakov and Theodore Serving for winning the first and second prizes respectively, both of your compositions are extraordinary. Shestakov's piece offers a really complex and compelling musical language that expresses strong emotions through some of the most impressive Rachmaninoff-like piano writing you will ever see. Servin's composition takes us on a journey of the soul, with a special kind of sensibility distilled into beautiful melodies with Spanish hues on top of breathtaking and idiomatic romantic piano writing.
    The honorable mentions are amazing compositions as well. Annyuk's piece is the most Spanish piece of the collab and serves as a perfect homenage to the Spanish masters, full of musicality and beautiful moments. Batista's composition shines for his highly original harmonic and textural material, organized into a compelling structure that symbolizes a methamorphosis perfectly. Rodríguez's piece was a surprise to us, the writing is perfectly compatible with the Spanish masters of Renaissance and Early Baroque and showsimpeccable technique coupled with a really well developed musicality (specialized in that style).
    (I will start paying everyone their prizes this week. For the big prizes I might take until August, but it will for sure happen before 31/08/2024)

    I am very honored to be in this list next to all these talented people. I can't be more thankful for getting the the first prize. It means a lot to me, that my music speaks to someone.
    Huge shout out to Ivan&co for organizing this contest. You did great!
    It truly warms my heart, that in this world there are still people who write beautiful music.❤

      We are the ones honored to have your composition in this project! Thank you very much for participating and thank you for the kind words. Congratulations for composing such an impressive piano composition.
      Let's hope this cultural project will spark an interest in other young composers so they try learning more about Spanish culture and hopefully try adding it to their own music.

    Congratulations to all the composers and their respective performances! Was very pleasantly surprised by each one. First one reminded me a bit of Leo Ornstein's music.

      Yes, some of the compositons we received were a true surprise! I'm glad of the variety of styles and musical personalities we gathered.
      Indeed, the first one has a very Russian style from the early 20th century. It reminds me of a Rachmaninoff with textures and harmonic shifts more common in Ornstein and other postromantics.

    Thank you for this event! I'm very happy to hear my entry made so great an impression to deserve the 2nd place 😄
    I must say, these entries are very special and creative works, from late Renaissance to Impressionism. I'm looking forward to hearing the complete recordings of these piece 👍

      Congrats for your beautiful composition! Very few people compose like that nowadays. Indeed, we managed to have a bit of everything, from Renaissance to Romanticism to a more modern style. I edited the description and you should be able to check some of the pieces in their totality.

    So the first piece stole many phrases from the Rach 3 cadenza as well as an etude tableaux. How was this not noticed?

    • @VepiumOfficial
      @VepiumOfficial Місяць тому

      It's not stealing, it's a quote.

    • @Ivan_1791
      @Ivan_1791  Місяць тому

      We didn't consider it was similar enough to be considered stealing. He probably took inspiration from the Rach 3 cadenza and then developed in a whole different way, the style is very Rachmaninoff after all.
      Not giving this piece the 1st prize would have been a crime, because even after giving it a penalty because of his excessive difficulty it still stayed on top.
